HAPPY MONDAY EARLY BIRDS DAY!!! 😀 I’m slow today. 😉 I slept in, I drank two cups of coffee (one pumpkin spice and one vanilla) and I’m finally sitting down to play “build our books lists”. This is the first one but I’m not done yet, (still adding on) so let me know if I missed one.
Three things:
1.) Maryse’s Top Fifteen Favorite Books in 2019 <— I worked all day yesterday on it, and it’s finally done!!! *phew* 😀
2.) I bought a new cage for Birdy last week and I got it on Friday (it’s three times the size of what it was). I was so excited for him to try it. He hates it. *sigh* He’s insecure in it and afraid to move about and try all his branches, and all his various food bowls. I’ve got food and water and food clips hung all over his cage, and he’s got one favorite spot and that’s that! *fingers crossed* he starts exploring (and enjoying all of his space and toys) soon. Update: Now I just added a bird rope that I twisted into a spiral ladder that goes down a level of his condo. Hopefully he uses it…
3.) I’m spending my Monday blogging and cooking today. I saw one of those older Goodful videos where they did the recipes in fast-forward video mode and it’s always so easy and I’m going to do a marathon cooking using their videos. Lots of roasted veggies on my horizon! 😀
4.) Just added a 4th thing thanks to Tasha J reminding me… yesterday I bought a HUGE (like at least 3 feet tall and very full) Gold Capella’ Dwarf Umbrella Tree Schefflera plant. I used to have one back in college and it was SO easy to keep, and had been in my then-boyfriend’s family for years already, so I figured it was time for my own, now. I got it for $10 at Walmart.
I mean.. this thing is HUGE for having only paid $10 and so healthy and solid.
*thud* BEST PLANT DEAL EVER!!!
<— P.S. That’s mine right there. The HUGE deal I got, and I’m still clapping with glee. It brings so much life to my already pretty “sunflower” dining room, but it needed a huge plant. 😀

I hope Birdy adjusts well and learns to love his new space!
Food prep would make my days so much easier, but I haven’t the patience for it. I love seeing photos and videos of everything people post when they’re done with food prep. I’m always amazed at the time they must have spent and how yummy it all looks.
1. I never did make any of the recipes last week as we were hit with a couple cases of the stomach bug. 🙁 I do have some leftovers for tonight and then I can get back on track with meals I had previously planned.
2. I did finally find some hanging planters I loved and will be transitioning 1 of my plants tomorrow. Aren’t they beautiful? https://www.wayfair.com/outdoor/pdp/orren-ellis-engelman-2-piece-iron-hanging-planter-set-orls3342.html?refid=TEM_WF363127&mmid=3492012109&csnid=6B764039-D31E-4507-B7F6-97AC37C96D2C&libra_c=&libra_d=&libra_g=&cltr= They really fit in with my eclectic? theme and pair well with the new white/grey shelf and gold brackets I installed.
3. I’m ready to read something new. Either Never Have I Ever or Good Girls Lie. And then I may want to stray *gasp* to romance. The Bromance Book club has me intrigued today.
I’m starting “Fashion Jungle” tonight and finishing “Daisy Jones” via audiobook every time I have house stuff to do or driving. 🙂 So two books at once, and neither of ’em are thrillers.
But both right up my alley!! 😀
I still want to read Daisy Jones. I have 2 audiobooks that I still haven’t taken the time to try to get into, maybe I should try again. Lol, it’s probably one of my lost cause projects that I just won’t give up. Like cactuses and succulents.
I LOVE those planters. Totally my thing. I have no hanging plants yet (everything on a corner table) and yesterday I bought a HUGE (like at least 3 feet tall and very full) Gold Capella’ Dwarf Umbrella Tree Schefflera plant.
Oooh, *runs to google to search this tree* I live for easy plants. Which is why I love my Pothos so much and I can’t wait to make room for more by hanging them….and also protecting the cat. I’m propagating the one (my 1st time) and it’s taking a lot longer than the lady said it would. The roots have shown themselves though so it must be working.
That tree is beautiful. It looks like I could kill it. 😬
Nope! Bet you can’t. It’s one of the most common indoor house plants and office plants as it needs medium light so indoors in well lit rooms is perfect. 🙂 Regular normal watering like a pothos!
I’m dying for a big fluffy fern but THAT… I would kill. Not enough humidity…
Ok, I’m getting one. 😜
*claps with glee*
YAY!!! Book twins AND plant twins. So this weekend, I’m going to get a pothos!!! I’d love a nice hanging plant all wild and bushy!
Yay!! Mine did not start out bushy. My Mom actually brought me a single clipping and I didn’t even know what it was. It just grew as 1 long vine for 4 years. I saw them in a store and I said, what is this called how do I get mine to look like that? Now that I know, I’d like to do clippings for family members for Xmas or something. A craft for the kids to help with.
My mom had the most amazing Pothos as I was growing up. She’s a total green thumb. She’d grow those, African violets and Spiderworts and propagate them for friends regularly.
Those are really pretty. I’d never heard of a spiderwort. My Gramdma was the only green thumb I knew, and I was too young to care when we helped with her gardening. Now, it’s through the internet and trial and error here. At least once a year I say I’m done, I give up and then spring rolls around and I grab a few. There have been a couple survivors. I swear, I do most things right. 🤷🏼♀️ I even googled which direction my house is facing (to know my window light). It says the ones that should thrive are the ones I’ve tried, and failed. 🤣🤣
I just posted a picture of mine up there!! 😀 Figured I’d turn it into a “four things” 😛
Ooh!!! Shiny & pretty!!! Love them!
**** Running to Wal Mart to buy a mini umbrella tree ****
RIGHT??? There were at least 5 of ’em there (in the garden section). I just grabbed one, checked the price on the tag, and skipped to the register. I could not believe my luck!
I’m starting Headliners today 😀 😀
I think of you and Bev when I see Lucy Parker!!! 😀
I went to my Mom’s for dinner tonight and was browsing the bookcase, came across one of my old books: Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon. I remember how excited I was about that book, that was my souvenir when I was 11 or 12 and we vacationed in Phoenix. I just thought, seeing it again, that I guess I’ve always been morbid. Lol!
I feel the same way when I think of how excited I was over horror or crazy-creepy true crime stories. Like how much I was shocked but riveted to “Jim Jones – People’s Temple, People’s Tomb”.
