1. I cut about 7” off of my hair this weekend. 3 years of growth! I think it’s the longest it had ever been and I love doing drastic things w/it, but just growing it that long was drastic for me and then the chop-felt so good. I don’t even regret it and I usually have some sadness after a big change. It now hits shoulder length, I guess a lob w/some light layers and a curtain bang. I’m also parting it different after virtually having the same part all my life. And made my base color a richer brown w/some blonde and red highlight/lowlight in a baylage.
2. My girl and I made our first book sleeves over the weekend and they turned out really nice! Just want to play with sizing a little more today as I want one to fit my new SJM book coming in the mail (SO excited!!) https://pin.it/3eXcoA0
3. We’re supposed to be getting like 7-11 inches of snow between today and tomorrow. Maybe another day off school? I’m kind of looking forward to it!
What was your part? I’m thinking of changing mine up…
I’d always parted to the right. Not super far over, but enough. She said the middle would work best with a curtain bang so I’m keeping it for a while at least. It feels odd. Like when my hair comes out from behind my ears, I instinctively want to swipe it the wrong way. It’s kind of a messy middle part too, how she styled it anyway, I haven’t messed with it since.
Good morning!
1. We came very close to losing our little poodle princess last week, but thanks to some pretty awesome people, she pulled through. She spent 2 nights in the hospital before they could take her off the IV and get her to eat. We hand fed her chicken baby food for the first 2 days, which was pretty adorable.
2. It snowed here, a lot. And since you don’t typically winterize Texas pools, we’re in a drink and pray situation with ours. The hot tub looks like a mini ice skating rink and the waterfall is an ice sculpture. But I refer to #1 and everything else will just have to work out.
3. Lol and I just discovered our water pipes froze so we have no water until probably Wednesday. 🤣🤣🤣😑 But we have bottled water and deodorant. *refers to #1*
Oh my goodness R, sounds like a really rough weekend! So sorry about your dog, that’s heartbreaking. And no water as well. ☹️ I have to say though, what you described with your hot tub and waterfall sounds beautiful. Hopefully not damaging.
She’s alive, so no matter what else happens, I’m good. But the pool situation may not be. The pump is running, barely, but the electricity is expected to go out again.
Even I turn on my pool pump when we have freezes… just in case. Some people tell me it’s not needed since it doesn’t freeze long enough in a row to cause damage, but earlier this year it froze for at least 6 hours… way more than usual.
We had our pump on, but the electricity went out several times overnight and it struggled to start up again. If the hubs can get the water back on maybe filling it more would help.
I’m so glad your sweet puppy made it through. Every day I say thanks for my happy girls. I love them so much.
We went up there last Tuesday under the guise of “maybe she’ll eat if you feed her” but I knew her doc just wanted to give us a chance to see her one last time. She admitted as much later. We were very, very lucky. Not only did she have a determined doc, we have a close friend who was a vet tech and worked with her on our behalf because we were hysterical. I think that sense of calm decision making did a lot. And we’re so grateful. I wake up several times a night just to watch her sleep. 😂
We are in DFW and had to winterize our pool for the first time ever. We basically opened all the valves on the pool equipment and that’s all we can do. I’ve wrapped my palm trees and put Christmas lights on them to try to keep the heart from completely freezing. It’s getting down to 4 degrees tonight. We have 6 inches of snow and ice plus more coming tomorrow night. We have frozen pipes in our kitchen. We live in Texas y’all!!!!! Our pools, pipes, landscaping and roads can’t handle it!! My family is safe so that’s all that really matters. Praying for those without power.
I know! This isn’t supposed to happen to us. I don’t even know how to winterize a pool!
Our neighbor is over here now trying to help my hubs thaw our pipes but considering it’s dark, I think they may be too late. There’s a chance it will get above freezing tomorrow so fingers crossed!

Ok that didn’t work. You can google how to winterize your Texas pool. Basically, you open every valve on the equipment and depressurize the filter. So on the pump you open the part where there’s a basket and leave that lid off. Open the little valves at the bottom. Cover all with a blanket. I’ve seen several people posting on Facebook how to do it with YouTube videos. We’ve had our pool 9 years and this is the first time. My psi was showing 60 so something was frozen somewhere. I have a space heater under my kitchen counter trying to thaw out the pipes. Ugh. At least we have electricity. Sooooo many in dfw do not.
Wow. I didn’t realise it snows in Texas.
Glad to hear your dog made it through. It’s heart-breaking when they’re sick like that.
Thank you!
It doesn’t usually snow, at least not this far south, and if it does, it’s only for a few hours and rarely sticks. The last time it snowed anything like this, I was 9.

A very quick Monday 3-things list
1. I’m busy these days caring for my 10 month old grandson. I laugh, “feed” him – it’s mostly on the floor, read, crawl, & make faces no one would ever see.
2. Yesterday, I plopped him on his back in the snow, he gave me a little look – like, what is this? – and then started doing snow angels like it was the natural thing to do… ☃️
3. Have to go do it all over again. Bye.
OH MY GOODNESS!!!! SNOW ANGELS!! ❤️ What a delight to see him do that.
So sweet!
How lovely. Enjoy!
Three things:
1. There has been a fresh outbreak in Melbourne recently so the whole state is in the middle of a short snap lockdown. So now I’m back to teaching online, but hopefully only for a few days then back to work onsite. We’ll find out tomorrow whether we stay home for longer.
2. Unusually mild and cool summer here this summer. Hardly any of those super hot days we usually get. (So far LOL).
3. Our library has had to temporarily close again but at least they have been having this click and collect thing. You order your book online and just have to pop down to pick it up. Lately I’ve noticed their catalogue has a bigger range of romances and historical romances. Yay.
