HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!!! New week, new month and it’s almost spring!! π Today’s list isn’t huge (tomorrow’s is going to be, though!!), but if I find more, I’ll add them in. Also!! I posted my latest review so in case you missed it yesterday, here it is again: Book Review β The Life That Mattered by Jewel E. Ann.
And now…
Three things:
I watched I See You on Saturday and let me tell you, if this had been a book, this would have been the EXACT psych-thriller read I’m always looking for. I LOVED IT!! So clever and so many twists, and I kept guessing stuff (or assuming stuff) but when the reviews say you won’t be able to guess the ending, they were right!!!! At least for me. π So much going on (despite being easy to follow) but it all made sense in the end. FANTASTIC!!!!
So my organic “Misfit Vegetables” box shipment last week had a HUGE Kohlrabi in it. I’ve never had one nor have I ever seen one before and so I tried to make it (chopped it into chunks and roasted it with cheese) and it’s… alright I guess. There was just so much of it (I mean this thing was the size of my head) so it was just a big job and a lot of vegetable. LOL!! I’d say it tastes pretty mild… like a cross from cabbage, cauliflower and maybe a bit of turnip? I dunno. Many say it’s a great potato substitute and I’d agree. Chops like a potato, and I bet it would mash nicely too.
My new favorite Keto snack (or meal replacement on occasion) are Quest bars.Β They’re pretty satisfying when my sweet tooth kicks in and a I want a cookie or something. In fact, many hint at heating them up in the microwave a bit or even cutting them into pieces and baking them in the oven like mini cookies. So I took a blueberry muffin one, and heated it up, and put just a touch of butter on it. YUMMY!! Just like putting a bit of butter on a real warm muffin, but… not. π

Good morning! I cant wait til spring. I’m already looking forward to planting my herb garden and hopefully some flowers too. I love trying new-to-me produce. I’ve never had kohlrabi but I think I remember reading it is good spiralized. I recently tried jicama (tastes like nothing) and fennel which is delicious. I only did fennel raw, haven’t tried roasting yet. I wicked want to try purple cauliflower (it’s so pretty) but hubs won’t eat it. Anyway…I just got Happiness for Beginners from library and not sure if I’m liking it or not. It *might* be a snoozer. But I have A Really Bad Idea by Jeannine Colette and Tragic by Deveny Perry coming up for my challenge reads for March. Fingers crossed I like them!
Purple cauliflower! I remember that. Iβve had it and the orange too, I believe. My fam was wary too, but it tastes exactly like regular cauliflower and I eventually won them over. I think I called it fairy cauliflower or something for 1 of them. π
I made a bag of frozen Italian cut green beans last night, they looked so fancy hubs asked if they were snap peas or something and he loved them. Were they fresh, he asked. π€£π€£ I spend the least amount of time prepping veggies.
I love all the veggies I get. I’m a HUGE veggie eater (though not a vegetarian) veggies are always a part of my meals. Green beans are one of my favorites ever.
Ohhhh! I’m getting Fennel on my next shipment (I was allowed to choose it!!). I’ve never made it before so THAT will be exciting.
Iβve made something with fennel once. It was the first time I actually chopped up a bunch of veggies and baked them, like 10 years ago. I thought it was such hard work then. Lol! And some of the things werenβt what I was used to buying, it was something like this https://pin.it/JN9mcCD. Turned out really good though.
I loved A Really Bad Idea by Jeannine Colette!! I hope you enjoy it! I haven’t read Happiness is for Beginners yet…bummer to hear it’s slow….
Leslie–I loved Happiness for Beginners. IMO it picks up. And once she (the h) gets going on her thing that she does, parts of it are hilarious. I loved the audio, but Robin didn’t care for it. Still, she loved the book too. I hope it gets better for you!
Tasha–the only green beans hubs will each are the Italian ones. I quit buying any other kind years ago.
1. I ordered 2 plant stands thatβll arrive tomorrow. 1 for my tree, so just a little one and 1 that has several ledges thatβs more narrow and tallish to save room. Thatβll go in my room that has North + West light for the plants that canβt take the harshness of my Southern window. It is the only other windows in the house that provide adequate lighting so I hope it revives some that werenβt doing so well. Especially when summer rolls around. I feel like Iβm constantly in a state of practice, but Iβm super determined to work it out this time, lol.
2. I only read 5% more last night before I crashed. π
3. Itβs 50 degrees outside and Iβm taking my car through the wash. Itβs a rainy, overcast day but it gives us something to do and I think itβs been a year. Iβve noticed my car is the dirtiest in the lot, lol.
YAY PLANT STANDS!! I ended up using the cute one-seater stools from my tiny wood table project to hold my plants.
And omg yes…. my car needs a wash too, and I forgot to tell this story in the three things, but I need a new windshield altogether.
BIG HUGE CRACK right down the middle and then it curves to the right. ROAR!!! Stupid mercury in retrograde and things breaking. Luckily they’re coming tomorrow to replace it.
Omg, how the heck did that happen?! I wish I had a stool to use, it was just easier to find something on Amazon rather than run all over antiquing or something. And I like the height and location on my end table, just doesnβt fair weβll for those trying to watch the tv from there. I measured up a storm for all this and Iβm so terrible at math, I hope I did right. Lol!!
I’m not sure… I do remember last week hearing a huge cracking noise (something obviously smacked into my windshield) and I looked at it quickly while driving, sure it was going to be cracked… but there was nothing and I never thought about it again. Until Friday when I noticed it growing. And I was all, What the…? We have a lot of huge rock trucks on my daily route so I have a feeling something like that.
That could make for a very creepy story! Glad it wasnβt more serious though.
Oooh, maybe I need to get a good stand for my spider plant?? I want it to be able to grow down and make babies. I was going to hang it, but there just isnt good spot to hang.
That would be pretty. Just to elevate it and you can move it around without putting holes in your wall.
Ooooh, I just caught up on the latest Good Girls episode, it had me holding my breath!!
Good afternoon! Happy Monday!
1) I still can’t read a book. I’m trying to listen to The Good Girl by Mary Kubica and I’m struggling. It’s not bad. I’m just not immersed. And then I see a bunch of my GR friends gave it either 3 or 4 stars–no 5 star ratings and that makes me want to move on to something else. Like maybe Hidden Bodies.
2) My granddaughter that’s coming on 4/10 has a name! Elizabeth Ann. (Ann is a family name that my stepdaughter, her mom, and her grandmother all share.)
3) I’m hooked on wasabi peas. I could eat them morning, noon, and night! Love the nose burn!
I have an Elizabeth Ann in my family. Sheβs always been called Lizann. Congrats on your new soon to be grand baby!! Girls are a treat, so easy to spoil. βΊοΈ
If youβre in the mood for a thriller, I might suggest FantasticLand just because it reads like a thriller/horror, but is fantasy at the same time. OR Emma in the Night. That was unputdownable for me. Ooooh or how about Sundown Motel? Oh shoot, you know what? The Other People is really intricate and keeps you on your toes. Way more than the synopsis leads on.
Otherwise, when Iβm in a rut, I go for funny, fantasy, or watch tv/movies. Good luck!
Thanks, Tasha! I’ll put all of these on my tbr.
I have three boys but if I had a daughter, her name would have been Elizabeth Ann!!!!! Lizzie Ann for short.
OMG I want to love wasabi peas but it hurts me too bad. I can barely stand any Wasabi anything (and I like spicy!!). Go figure! I even tried wasabi seaweed crisps and I suffered through the whole package. LOL!!! Yep… I ate ’em anyway. π
Happy Monday! I spent the weekend going down the Helena Newberry rabbit hole after those Alaska Wild recommendations on Friday (thank you to those who recommended it!). I finished Alaska Wild plus two more of her books and I loved them all. Her fast-pace suspense/romance combo is a welcome change from other stuff that I’ve been reading lately.
