Good morning and HAPPY MONDAY!! Twenty early bird book releases for us today, and I think I’m going to add some sales to today’s list, ’cause I just saw a few that many here loved that are super-bargains right now. Speaking of amazing sales…
P.S. ALSO STILL ON ➔➔➔ TWO FREE MONTHS KINDLE UNLIMITED DEAL!!! <— If you haven’t tried it yet, now’s your chance. 😲👏👏👏
Three things:
1.) I need to catch up on the last 2 Good Girls episodes. I LOVE that show, and I can’t believe I keep forgetting to watch. So that will be tonight, while I work on tomorrow’s list. 😀
2.) I gave up on Pretty Girls (Karin Slaughter) for now. It was so convoluted in the beginning, and for chapters and chapters worth, and now I’m bored – or my mind is just everywhere right now and can’t get into this like I had hoped. Just over 50% and I can’t right now. It’s okay… not awful but not keeping me excited. I’m definitely not devouring it. Then I read a few reviews about the pure horror-torture in the second half and I am not into torture-flicks, so I figured I’d let this one go and start anew somewhere else. And OMG!! I was wondering why it was taking me forever to read it and only at 50%. It’s almost 600 pages. Yeah… no. Especially knowing I’m heading into some very dark torture scenes.
3.) I watched two awesome (edge-of-your-seat) movies this weekend, and both had the same kind of sci-fi “super-soldier” theme. Bloodshot (with Vin Diesel and also *ahem* Sam Heughan is in it too. HOT!!!). It was intense and these guys were almost unbeatable when it came to killing and missions. Great premise on this one, in regards to how they programmed him over and over again.
and Gemini Man (with Will Smith) which actually surprised me. It was GREAT! When I saw the trailer in theaters I thought it would have a weird corny feel to it. But it had a ton of heart, and the characters were super likable (at least the good guys were) and there were plenty of chuckles because Will Smith – and his supporting crew – are great like that.. 😉 And it kept you guessing regarding who might show their bad side later. And what impressed me a ton is how they got the “young Will Smith” clone to look so real. THAT was what I was worried about, but it turned out believable and incredible. The stunts in this one were pretty hard-core too (over-the-top but fun to watch and eeeeeep over).

1. My concentration was scattered this weekend. The news is scary. Hopefully everyone is social distancing, if you dont live with them dont be around them. Unless at work. We all want to go back to normal.
2. Loved the Queen’d speech. I thought it was great. Interesting to see her refer back to her first speech from 80 years ago that was to reassure children having to be separated from their families during WWII.
3. Definitely want to try Schitt’s Creek, plus my usual kdramas lined up. Reading Only Mostly Devestated and then on to The Austen Playbook.
I’m loving this cover from The Rose right now, though not familiar with the original. I love Woosung’s voice it is so distinctive. Listening to this song just gives me a little jolt of happy.

Hi Bev, I also like the cover from The Rose by Reisz…it’s quite beautiful, art gallery worthy. I’m on a book run of “soft edgy” books (can I call them that?) and just finishing up. Take care.
The Rose are a korean rock band. This is them doing a cover of the song City Streets.
Sorry, I tend to talk about music and shows on here as much as books.
And The Rose looks really look – I’m going to lookout it. Thanks.
hahaha
My concentration was a mess this weekend too. So I just cooked like crazy… made me feel calmer (while watching the cooking channel).
And now I have yummy food to eat when I come home from work (and also in my lunches).
Anyone else reading Dear Enemy? I am 30% in and right now I’m so irritated by the characters I don’t know if I want to continue. 😕
I couldn’t finish it. No guilt. 🙂
I agree Mony. No guilt over did-not-finish is the way to go. Too many other good reads waiting out there to force ourselves to keep going on something just for the sake of finishing it.
It’s almost like you know me… it’s really hard for me to quit a book.. But the behavior so far… ugh. I should just move on to the 500 holds that just came through. Because no matter where you are on the list… they all arrive at the same time.
Ha ha ha. Yep, life happens that way sometimes.
LOL!!!! Well at least you have choices. 😉
I already DNF’d two books in 2 weeks so… No shame from me on it. Reading is my favorite, but it can only be my favorite if I’m enjoying and totally into what I’m reading.
1. I’ve restarted reading Penny Reid’s Neanderthal Seeks Human. I couldn’t get into it before – never got past Chapter 2 or 3 even though I’d paid for it LOL. But a GoodReads buddy who loves it encouraged me and I’m giving it another try. I think I’m getting it this time and quite enjoying it. Maybe I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind last time I tried it. Thanks GR buddy. (Ursula).
2. Hubs and I did our weekly shop today. We went early to avoid crowds, although they are now limiting the number of people they let into the store at one time. We got counted as we went in LOL. They had toilet paper and eggs today, but still no flour or hand sanitiser. *shrugs*
3. Having fresh corn on the cob (well, fresh from the supermarket LOL) for lunch today, with salt, pepper and butter. Yum. It’s cooking now. Gotta go……
I’ve actually just started that series. It’s not bad. I think I confused it with something else originally.
Ugh, can’t sleep. Also liked some of the books in Neanderthal series – Neanderthal Seeks Human, Beauty and the Mustache, Dating-ish.
I joined one Goodreads group too – works well with Maryse’s blog. Any suggestions on which are good? Time to close my eyes. P.S. Toilet paper!!
I finally slept last night and crashed HARD. Oh it felt so good. 7 hours deep sleep (one hour lost between 4 and 5am with some tossing and turning) but I feel so much more alert and better today.
