It’s Monday already? 😉 Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you all had a great weekend, and if you read (or are reading) something awesome, let me know. In the meantime, here are today’s early birds, and that one to the left is already at #1 on all of Amazon Kindle. Doesn’t surprise me though, considering the authors.
THREE THINGS:
1.) I learned to shoot a bow this weekend. I feel like Katniss. 😉 Though, obviously, not nearly as good. 😂
2.) I was warned that some of my back muscles would feel it the next day, and OMG YES. I thought it would be my right shoulder blade, considering the “pulling back” but it’s actually my LEFT shoulder blade muscle area that is screaming at me right now. It took awhile for my muscles to feel it, but here it is. Also my forearm (left).
3.) I discovered some new music to love over the weekend. My Alexa is probably annoyed with my demands of “play it again”.

- Not Pretending Anymore by Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland <— HE’S HER NEW ROOMMATE! Tee hee!!! 😉 “…I’d definitely requested the big guy find me a drop-dead gorgeous man on more than one occasion…just not as my roommate. Declan Tate talked me into interviewing him anyway. While he was amusing and charismatic, I wouldn’t have been comfortable living with a man, so I regretfully declined. Then cupcakes showed up at my door—freshly baked by Declan and just as sinfully delicious as he was. You could say he was persistent. I eventually folded. It wasn’t like I had another viable candidate anyway. Plus, I was interested in someone else. And Declan was into another woman. So it wasn’t like anything would happen romantically…”

I knew Patriot helped save me when I was just a teenager. The seed was planted then and it grew, against all odds, to flower into something beautiful. All it took was our faith in one another. But our lives were intertwined with the scars of our past. Now we have to chip away at our tragic history to find our forever…”

She was incredibly shy and avoided them all “…As video coach for the San Francisco Gold hockey franchise, Dani spent her days wrapped in a technological bubble. She studied tape, prepared clips for the players, and generally avoided other people. Until Ethan. She’d thought he was going to ask her to fix his computer. Instead, he’d asked her out...”

Good Morning! Maryse, what music did you discover?
1. I got my first vaccination last week and am taking the hubs to get his on Wednesday!
2. I started binging The Crown over the weekend and all reading came to an abrupt stop! I can’t believe I waited so long!
3. I booked a late summer Mexican vacay and decided to swap my morning French lessons for Spanish, and it’s soooo much easier for me. I still really want to learn French but I think I’m going to need something stronger than Babbel.
Well a few years back, I was totally into Dubstep, and kind of renewed by love for it with a DJ named Tiësto. HOLY MOLY he’s awesome.
And also, how are you feeling after the vaccine? Anything weird with it?
Also I need to learn Spanish again. I took a few years of it in college but I’d like to be fluent. It would be great for my job.
I don’t have a knack for learning languages but I really want to try. For now I’m just focusing on the basics for travel and then I’ll throw my focus back into French, but I’d like to be fluent in both. My dad was fluent (French Canadian) and I’m still bitter he didn’t teach me as a child! 😂
I didn’t feel the shot at all and only began to feel like my arm was bruised about 9 hrs later. It was fairly sore overnight and I couldn’t put weight on it, but it faded by morning and by noon the next day it was totally gone. No other side effects. I go back on the 28th so I’ll let you know if that changes.
Excellent regarding the vaccine!!!!
Also, I’m happy my parents only spoke to me in French when I was younger… so I’m fluent, but I should speak it more so I don’t lose it.
R.Renee wasn’t it you that I share a love of LP with? I was going to ask Maryse what new music as well! Always looking for something fresh!
Yes!! Love her!
Lately I’ve been on an 80s one-hit-wonder kick with bands like Martika and Breathe 😂 and I can’t believe I’m admitting this, but I’m a little obsessed with Harry Styles’ new album!
HAHA, me too. I bought it awhile ago though. His first one is good too. I have tickets (meet and greet with LP) and Harry a week apart in early Oct. I hope they both happen, they were both reschedules from 2020 of course.
They still haven’t rescheduled the concert I missed last October! I’d actually forgotten about it!
1. Warm, sunny, breezy here…reading on deck past few days…red robins and cardinals, yellow goldfinch…spring
2. Last of family visits for a while…my son was staying here for a bit to do studies & golf. I may have to make my own coffee…
3. Getting my first vaccine shot on Wednesday & husband on Thursday. Yaaaaaaaaay!
I LOVE cardinals!!!! I can’t wait to start seeing them again in my trees. 😀
I’ve come across some fantastic historical romance* in past few weeks…lots of binging going on. (Apologies for long list)
My favourite is Lord Ruin by Carolyn Jewel. A fabulous, very steamy read with a badly behaving (really), intense, handsome lord. (There is some some controversy with this book) 5★
I read The Viscount Who Loved Me by Quinn two years ago & rated it as “good”. Re-read it and…with Anthony’s character coming to life in the recent TV series (great acting), I rated it 5★. Loved it.
England’s Perfect Hero by Enoch- very good HR about one of the handsome Carroway brothers,
Robert, who has returned from the Napoleonic war & become a hermit. He meets Lucinda Barrett, a calm, smart young woman who gives him “love lessons” (Shades of Ian McKenzie in Jennifer Ashley’s book) 4★
More Than a Mistress* by Balogh…a fabulous HR about a grumpy, arrogant, handsome duke and a bold outspoken young woman. Great writing and characters. 5★.
Heartless by Balogh is a another 5★ read. Lucas Kendrick returns to England after 10 years in Paris as the new Duke of Harndon. Rejected by family, he is “heartless” but now reluctantly needs to start a family. Enter smart and capable Lady Anna. (cool stuff on men’s fashion)
* most titles from the HR guru Jan
YAY!!! Recommendations for Friday’s list. Thank you Mony!! 😀 Maybe this time I’ll actually post it on Friday (instead of Thursday). 😂😂😂
🙂
Glad you’ve enjoyed these great HRs. I agree, they’re all well worth a read! I liked Lord Ruin too, controversy and all.
🙂
My hubs got the Johnson and Johnson shot today. He had covid over summer so we shall see how his body reacts. I was supposed to get mine today too but I decided to wait because if we both feel badly, who will run this house? I think I chickened out too. I’ll get it. I will. Right? Yes. I will. Lol
LOL Lisa!!!! You are toooooo cute!! And yes I’m always a chicken for needles. 🐓
It’s a teeny tiny needle, you’ll be OK. I had my first Moderna at Publix, get the second the 29th!
1. Long weekend of running around for me. Getting kids some spring/summer clothes and of course returns bc you can’t try things on there. Had to get some things for my girl’s projects coming up too. Trying out some headbands tonight.
2. Took the kids fishing. I only stayed for a little while bc I have no patience. It wasn’t that warm which is apparently perfect for trout. And then we ate them. Even I, ever fearful of eating fish that we caught ourselves ate it. And it was good! I’ve been traumatized since I was little seeing my Dad clean them. This is a huge step. Lol!
3. Also have been spring organizing. Got 2 cabinets done and I am in love! I hope they stay nice and prove useful. I have super deep cabinets and not much shelving and super small kitchen. So, lots of containers for snacks, clear so they can be seen and no digging required. And tubs for mixing bowls, baking dishes, etc. So can just pull a tub out to get to a tub in the back. Not perfect, but 100x better than what I’ve been dealing with for too long. Now my ideas for the rest are flowing!
I love reading about your organizing. It’s so soothing to me. 😂
Why, thank you! 😂 It simultaneously soothes and frazzles me bc once I start, I want to do ALL the things!
Yea, cleaning fish…I hear you! Trout are so good!
Joe has to clean all the fish we catch & then he doesn’t always want to eat it afterwards.
My first date with him was catching fish. I cleaned them & then never did it again. I find that funny…hope he does too.
Aw, I love that story!
So glad I never grew up on a farm. 😂 I can’t see the process of these things and still have an appetite.
3 things:
1. I’m hooked into a Netflix series called Call My Agent, about a company in Paris that acts as agents to Hollywood stars. Very funny and clever, with very believable characters. Ooh they get up to some shenanigans in that office! Downside – it’s in French so if like me you don’t speak French, you have to read the subtitles to get it. But I still highly recommend.
2. Hubs and I haven’t had our covid vacs yet, but we’re on the list. The vax rollout is going slowly in Australia. Not sure when we’ll get ours. Soon, I hope. I want to get it over with.
3. I just downloaded my copy of the new Grace Burrowes, How To Catch A Duke, and realised I haven’t yet read the previous one in the series. Oopsie. I’ve got some catching up to do.
