<— HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!! Almost 20 new releases on today’s list and that one to the left gave me a big blurb jolt!! It has everything I’m in the mood for right now. π
P.S. ALSO STILL ONΒ βββ TWO FREE MONTHS KINDLE UNLIMITED DEAL!!! <β If you havenβt tried it yet, nowβs your chance. π²πππ
My latest “Three Things”:
1.) My friend bev (from our book crew here!!) once told me about salt and vinegar chicken wings & I freaked out with glee that this was even a thing! How had I never HEARD of that before, especially considering how much I love salt and vinegar flavor for anything and everything??! So I found this recipe last week, and I purchased the seasoning and I air-fried them and they were FANTASTIC!!!! My very favorite flavor of chicken wings ever. And now thanks to my ButcherBox was amazingβ¦ subscription, I get 3lbs of free chicken wings with every shipment so you can bet I’m all over this from now on.
2.) I watched The Invisible Man this weekend, and while yes, it was an expensive rental it was worth it (as if I went to the movies) but in the comfort of my own home with all my own Keto-safe snacks. LOL!! And I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t know much about this story in previous versions (always assumed he was a super-hero of sorts?) but holy moly this movie was right up my alley!
Psych-thriller, gaslighting extraordinaire that had me on the edge of my seat (abused woman trying to escape her seriously abusive and gaslighting husband) and trying to start over again… in hiding. AND oh boy it does not disappoint. A couple of crazy twists and unforgettable scenes, and the downward spiral is totally TOTALLY believable. She’s an incredible INCREDIBLE actress and I believed her!! The ending was not as great as the whole movie lead up to (a bit far-fetched and that’s Β a stretch considering how crazy this story is) but still worth the watch!! Unforgettable!!!
3.) I found my burst of energy and creativity this weekend and planted my container garden!!!Β Planted all sorts of stuff from seed (basil, dill, cilantro, bell peppers, butternut squash, spinach, arugula). Usually I’d buy baby starters at Home Depot, but this season is the perfect opportunity to start from scratch.Β *fingers crossed* it works out.Β Either way, it was fun, and therapeutic!!!

1. I looked back at Gooseyβs birthday and realized heβs only now 10 weeks and we got him at 9 rather than 13! This dog is the same size as my full grown puggle now π¬. Iβm truly shocked.
2. I skipped breakfast and now itβs lunch time and Iβm starving. No idea what Iβm doing for lunch yet.
3. Iβd like a day off from everyday life. Just put all the things on pause.
P.S.- Iβm sad for you that your book didnβt turn out the way youβd hoped, what next on your radar?
I’m not sure… I’m going to sort through my latest Kindle one-clicks and see what sparks my blurb-jolt memory from when I clicked it. LOL! Maybe the Crawdads one?
I havenβt even looked at my ebooks in a while, just peeped and currently, could start the Followers. But Iβm super into Beach Read right now. Just, time isnβt on my side. Of my own doing, lol. Maybe Trailer Park Heart too.
Crawdads is a huge one on peoples best of lists, I bet youβll have a for sure love of that one.
Yes, Maryse…Crawdads!!!!
Jack and Jill Series!!! Did you ever read it?
Nope not yet… I know. I’m so bad. *ducks massive peanut throw*
(I tried the Crawdads one…. and put it down). Don’t throw tomatoes at me. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood?!?!
I totally get that… I did it with the first couple of chapters from Jack and Jill, but I know if I allow myself to just sit for a bit and get into it properly, I’ll likely devour that trilogy and beat myself up over it.
Um, he is part Bernese Mountain dog. I know he is bred to be small, but you never know how genetics will go, lol.
I know, I know. I was expecting the size of Australian cattle dog, not a small person. Lol
We shall see how he grows. Heβs already quite wary of strangers. Thatβs one of my worries right now. Socialize, socialize. I read they can become βguardiansβ of their family, and I donβt want him too stuck in that role. Heβs already showing signs of viewing our home as a safe zone, I guess. And us. If I drive him to a trail, heβs not quite as spooked, but here at home? Quiet street, but he knows which house is home. We can venture half a block down, heβll freeze and think about whether he wants to tuck tail and run and he knows just where to go. Even on a trail, we turn the other way, he knows just the way to the car. So, kind of cool, but donβt want him too easily spooked and fearful of others. Iβve not met any puppies who take a while to warm up, strange to me. Lol. Saw my neighbor today and he froze and took a lot of coaxing to walk past. Heβll be that way for anyone he sees. Just freezes till their out of sight. When we greeted him to get him, he just kind of stood there and hung out. Most puppies Iβve met have been super friendly and all over us. He was the calmest of the litter, reserved for someone bc of that, who wanted him for their elderly dad (81) and the sister found out and had a cow. So, I love that heβs more mellow, but donβt wanna feed too much into his standoffishness.
Shyness is hard. I had a fog like that. I got him at 8 weeks and he was shy from the beginning. It made some things difficult for sure. But he wasnt afraid to leave the house he just didnt like people.
How did he show it? Like this or did it grow into anything more?
I dk that he doesnβt like people yet either, btw. Heβs just not one to walk right up to them. Heβs passed people in the store and on the trail and while he does freeze, sometimes he turns back like he waiting for a pet. Or if someone smells good I guess heβs curious? And when my babysitting kids came he was very excited. Itβs just hard to tell fully yet. Weβre working hard on being positive and coaxing him not to be a chicken.
Oh, yeah that’s different. He did not get excited to see new people, lol. He’d hide behind me.
I also had a dog who was very independent and slightly standoffish. She wasnt interested in people petting her but not scared or shy.
So cute!!! <3
So he was a quarter wolf and that may of came into play. But he also had pit and boxer which is usually very friendly.
I was 18/19 when I got him and lived with my mom. We went together to get him and he sat in my lap the ride home and then he’d only let me touch him for weeks. After that only my mom and I. We had neighbors that came over frequently and would give him treats that he’d eat but no petting.
I’m assuming yours is letting the other family members pet him, lol .
He never grew out of it.
Oh wow, yea he does. He does have boundary issues with the littles, but thatβs every puppy. I think so far heβs more standoffish and independent. Itβs kind of interesting to watch him sit and take it all in and decide if heβs good or not actually, lol. Strange.
There will be dogs yap yap yapping at him and he just sits or freezes till theyβre gone. On the trails, not here. Here, on our road, a dog yaps and he thinks about whether he can move forward or go back. Which is an improvement from just running back. He thinks for quite some time. Haha.
I hope he soon is more accepting of the people and stuff, cuz of the kids and how often Iβd like to take him with me places when they do get back into activities.
Tasha, did you get Beach Read from NetGalley? I can’t find it anywhere. I think the release date is May 19th. I tried NetGalley, but I wasn’t approved. I think I requested it too late. And I didn’t like crawdads very much either. It was super slow.
I wish I had another minpin puppy. I miss that puppy breath and the cute playfulness. Though not all the peeing and pooping everywhere. Right… I forgot about that.
1. I was up all night reading Final Serenade and I’m about to finish the last 10% because it’s taunting me! So glad you’re reading it Maryse!
2. I think I’m going to make the hubs pick up white alfredo and ricotta pizza for dinner because obviously Im never wearing jeans again.
3. We made burgers from the ground beef in our butcher box last week and they were sooooo good!! I can’t wait to do it again. I’m never using that meat for anything else!
Way to make me hungry R!! And yes, Final Serenade was so good! I hope you enjoy it Maryse!!
I just finished it! I had so many theories on how it was going to end and I was wrong on all counts. Totally loved it!
Gosh, Iβm craving Oreos so bad. I donβt even have any. WAIT! I have a whole bag of extra Easter candy…..
Well, governor just announced school is off for the rest of the year here. Already figured , but wondering what now. Iβm sure spring sports will be cancelled, but would like to know about summer. The thing is, is people are saying itβs up in the air about next year for school. Now how could he talk about opening up the state in May and still talk about how school could be remote learning in August? So frustrating. I believe itβd be better to leave the pondering for the future out of the speeches.
Big Ben by Nana Malone also comes out tomorrow!
https://www.amazon.com/Big-Ben-Evil-Trilogy-Book-ebook/dp/B07YS5MKST
Thank you Skye!!! I added it. HOLY MOLY THAT COVER!!!!!! π
1. Now I’m craving burgers and wings. Have ground beef, but no wings. Maybe I’ll order the seasoning and see about getting some wings…
2. UPS was supposed to deliver my wallpaper today and obviously I’m home. Just got the email notice that sorry tried to make the delivery, but missed me??!! It wasn’t even a required signature, like they’re wanting someone to come to the door and sign for a package??!! So frustrated.
3. Curious about Final Serenade, but is there a second book that is not out yet?
OMG our delivery people do that to us too! We both work from home. We’re always here!
Yes the second book is available for preorder and comes out 5/14.
Ridiculous. I’m still scratching my head on why they couldn’t just leave the package on my porch.
Think I’ll wait to read book 1 until closer to 5/14.
Ugh what a bummer about the shipment. I was freaking out a bit on Saturday because I had TWO things coming from two different places (Amazon and my veggie box subscription) and by 9pm, they still hadn’t shown up.
That is, until I opened my door and saw both my packages by Fedex shoved up in the corner… and they didn’t ring my doorbell, nor did my dogs bark at their arrival (which they ALWAYS do). So somehow, the driver snuck up out of view and ran off without any of us hearing it.
So I was happy, and the veggies were still in good condition despite spending probably half the day outside.
Checking in from Texas. Still sans Covid-19. I am getting cabin fever though. All the days are just running together. I feel like I am stuck in the movie Groundhog’s Day. 3 things:
1.) I am reading such a good book. It’s called The Witch Elm, by Tana French. Just amazing. Mystery, family, character building, and in Ireland!
2.) I have sunk low in my TV watching: Bachelor/Listen to Your Heart. OY!
3.) I have more food in my house that I ever have, and I stand there every night with NO IDEA what to make for dinner. I have too many “staples” and not enough “fun stuff”. And so much in the freezer. Then you have to plan and thaw it.
MichelleS that’s why I love my crockpot or making casseroles. That whole “one dump” and let it do it’s thing is my favorite. π
