HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!!! I’m excited because there are a few early bird releases today by much-loved authors from my early indie days and here they are again today!! π YAY US!
βThree Thingsβ:
1.) I went strolling through a seriously gorgeous wild life refuge forest (with mosses and vines everywhere – tons of HUGE trees) and it was like being in another world. Even the air was fresh and almost… cooler. A perfect Saturday outdoors (no sunburn because I was under a thick canopy). The only downside were the ticks (all the different sizes!!) I was covered in, coming out. GAHHHHHHH!!!
2.) I planted Sage seeds outside in the ground near where I have my 3 year old oregano plant that just keeps getting bigger, and I also planted on the same day, the same seeds in a pot. The seeds in the ground are growing so much faster. Incredible really!! They already have the mini versions of those tell-tale sage leaves on the newest growth that that just came through (that cool sage texture).
3.) I learned a new gardening lesson!! If you water sprouted seeds/tiny baby plants too much (for me it was every day) they can’t get enough oxygen from the soil through their tiny roots, and so… while they might not die, they will just stop growing. I’m at that stage right now with a bunch of them. Grrrr. I wonder if they’ll start growing again now that I’ve “fixed” the overwatering. Who knew? They were so tiny I didn’t want them to dry out in the Florida sun. Usually I started my garden with big baby starters and never had an issue (but by then they were strong enough). I’m always learning…

Hey Maryse! You should add βWhen Art Risesβ by Lorrain Allen. Itβs a very dark high school romance that deals with an exquisite love triangle. Yes, thereβs cheating but it is way more complex than that: troubled H and kind h… you get the vibe. The way the story unfolds is amazing and… well… I wonβt spoil you any more details.
Book #2 is coming July 15th. Funny thing is I thought it was a standalone going in and only figured out it had a cliffhanger the moment when I had 20 pages left and saw that the story was just then reaching its climax! Canβt wait to read book #2.
Hi Maria!
I will add it to tomorrow’s new release list in the reader recommendations section. π Thank you so much for this!!!
Yay!! I had to tell you about it. Honestly Iβm feeling a little hungover from it lol. Now you will find me looking for other dark high school romances to read. I think Iβve read them all honestly
1. Yup, I found another tick yesterday. On my dresser drawer. Grrr. They must be pretty bad this year.
2. Goose gained 2lb since last week. Now heβs 28lb, 14 weeks old. Lort have mercy! He got his last vaccinations today and heβll have his 1st groom since we got him (Easter) this afternoon! β€οΈ I hope heβs cool w/it.
3. Mondayβs stink and Iβm already ready for nap.
Ticks!! Cringe!! I hate those things…ugh!
Ugh I know… I kept wondering which ones I was missing… in my hair??
*thud*
Every ache, bump, itch I feel, I have to check or have my daughter check me. Especially the head. It creeps me out so bad.
I would do your walk though, even knowing there are ticks bc it sounds so magical! I love walking in new places with different agriculture than what we see here and it sounds so swampy and jungly. We loved our hikes when we vacationed in FL last year.
Yes I will do it again too, but I will spray myself down, and tuck myself in everywhere – maybe some rain boots. LOL!!!
Love hearing about Goose! – he sounds like a real character.
His weight gain made me wonder about my grandson.
Birthweight 10 lbs. Then, at 5 weeks old, almost 14 lbs.
Daughter still glaring at 6″5″ husband. We’ll see where he’s at 14 weeks. lol
Aww, I love the newborn stage! Itβs my favorite. They sleep all the time and canβt get into anything or talk back. And their rolls and smells and little faces! π₯° That is a big baby though! I have a cousin whoβs baby is a year younger than my J and heβs always been a big boy too, tall and stockier. Heβs a couple inches shorter than J and same weight (26lb). Goose was the same as them a week ago. ππ
Goosey got his first haircut today!! He looks so different. I can see his body shape and everything. Itβs hard to tell in these pics, but heβs just so stinkin cute. https://www.instagram.com/goose.the.bernedoodle/
Goose is the CUTEST!!
We have a golden doodle here at the office (he’s my boss’s) and he comes to work every single day. His name is Buddy. Go figure. π And he totally IS our buddy,.
π
1. We got so much rain this weekend that we had a “mini flood” in our basement… with new flooring :-0 Yeah, that wasn’t fun…and mini flood is a slight exaggeration but still…we had water…ugh!
2. I’ve been busy converting what used to be a craft room into a reading room. It can also double as an office…but that’s so boring…so reading room it is π It’s coming together nicely and I love it!!
3. I read two great books recently…very different genres…Katy Paige’s Choose Me (which releases today) is one where you can’t help but cheer for the “underdog” in the story (Jane)…and her love interest, Lars…phew I have to fan myself. I just loved them as a couple. Then, over the weekend, I listened to (and read) The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix…OH MY! Such a unique vampire book! First off, you know I loved the southern setting…and I also liked the different take on vampire imagery. I highly recommend it…but be warned it is a bit gruesome.
YAY I LOVE recommendations!!! π And when some of us are on a reading role, even more!!
Also… ugh for the mini flood. I had one of those once with my washing machine and it was so stressful (until I figured out how to turn the water off completely).
Though for you, you couldn’t even do that, since it was torrential rain. I hope all is okay now. π
Michele,
Love your recommendation for Katy Paigeβs Choose Me. Looking forward to reading that one!
I just looked up The Southern Book Clubβs Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix…it sounds weirdly wonderful. Just my cup of tea. π Hope I can get to that one too!
My three things:
1. Jean
2. Amy
3. Fabi
They popped into my head today. I hope they are doing well in all this crazy.
Have had lots of rain here which I love, but after a week I’m ready for the more temperate spring weather coming.
I feel like I’m settling again. When this first started I was reading then watching dramas and then I lost both, but I think it is coming back. Luckily I always have music.
I’ve been going between sad songs by female artists and happy songs by male artists, lol. Been a little moody.
My current sad is this little gem by Lucinda Williams. It is so tender it hurts. I love her voice, and how it so.etimes cracks. It’s a voice for stories.

My current happy is this cover of Marry You. It’s just a a pure smile. I want to see them in concert, it needs to go on the concert bucket list. I’ve already seen Lucinda live. The main singers voice is like a cozy sweater, so textured but soft.

Hi Bev,
Thanks a lot for these songs. I love receiving gifts of music.
Hope you’ll be feeling better soon.
I miss them too!!
Melancholy is bittersweet. We feel sad or lonely, but we find wonderful connections in our search for relief or focus… with art and other people that help.
I know when I’m sad though, I can’t listen to music, or it’s a day-long sob fest. Though at times I suppose that is therapeutic in itself.
Almost forgot to tell you about a book mentioned here a week ago. Beautifully Cruel by J.T. Geissinger.
Just finished it as part of a group read…couldn’t stop…read it all at once.
A delicious scrumptious read…
5 stars for me…grumpy hot mysterious alpha, sassy chick, hot chemistry, slow burn, some steamy scenes, …sadly I also like that he’s wealthy – lol
Just my kind of book!
YAY MONY!
I’ve only read one by this author and LOVED it, so I’m excited to know the awesome-streak continues. π
yea, I’ve read 3-4 others that are really good…
