Good morning and happy Monday!! π 25 new releases on today’s list including a hole bunch of new books written by different authors, in Kristen Proby’s “With Me in Seattle” series.
βThree Thingsβ:
1.) I am absolutely LOVING K.A. Tuckers latest – The Player Next Door. I pretty much just highlighted one whole chapter (at least that’s how it seems), ’cause it was just so intense, and jealousy inducing. The tension between these two is off the charts (she’s resists BIG time but internally, her reactions to him and her feelings are so real) and OMG I LOVED it because it was so realistic. I am hooked!
2.) I tried three different methods I learned online for rooting Fig cuttings (wrap them in a moist paper towel put them in a bag or container for a few weeks, put them in a glass of water to root and the third was just to bury them in the soil directly), and I’m pretty much seeing the “bury them directly in soil” method is the most efficient and the fastest. I have pretty fig leaves coming up on those that are already under the soil, so I’m just going to bury them all. π
3.) I didn’t get to watch any movies this weekend (though I had all intentions in devouring a horror movie or two). I just got so busy with stuff I wanted to do around the house (and gardening stuff) but I feel like I had a fulfilling weekend.

Yay, I get the prize for first today, I also loved The Player too Maryse. Except the end!
See what you think?
GASP!!! Okay…
*bites nails with worry*
Eeeeeeep!!!!
1. I’m reading The Player Next Door too! And listening to Priest on audio. π³π³π³
2. I can’t wait for you to get House of Leaves! I’m also going to BR White Fragility with some friends this week too.
3. I spent all weekend in the pool and feel a bit waterlogged today!
Oh we’ll be buddy reading twice!!! π
I should have spent the weekend in the pool too. I think I need a good float day.
I keep thinking I want to hop in on this House of Leaves BR …but I’m not sure…*nibbles nails*
Yes!! Do it! But you need to order the hardcopy because you can’t read it in ebook.
You know me…it’s already in my cart. Impulsivity is my middle name…lol.
It’s a really cool book to own, even if you don’t end up reading it.
It’s ordered…should be here Wednesday π
YESSSSSSSSS!!!! MEGA-SCARY BUDDY READ!!!!!! Mine will be here this week.
1. I feel like I didnβt really get anything off my list accomplished this weekend except laundry.
2. Iβm reading again, maybe thatβs why.
3. I canβt believe weβre into July next week already! That means August is coming and that means school. At least I hope that means school. The attitudes here- we need space.
“Iβm reading again, maybe thatβs why.”
LOLπ
The Player Next Door sounds so good! I also have to say I’m intrigued by Tessa Bailey’s new paranormal series! I HAVE to read those! I’ve been trying to post randomly here and there but my work computer hasn’t let me…maybe I’m being blocked lol. Anyway, that’s why I’ve been so absent. I’m trying a different browser today…fingers crossed.
I forgot I’m supposed to do this in threes…see…I’m out of practice.
1. I didn’t get to float at ALL this weekend. I’m grumpy because of it.
2. I did get various chores done around the house…mostly because that makes my hubs happy…and it was Father’s Day….lol
3. I started watching The Stranger on Netflix…love it. Also Virgin River which feels a bit Hallmark-y too me sometimes…but I still like it.
I liked that one even though I also got the Hallmarky vibes. Have you tried Sweet Magnolias yet? Iβve heard itβs really good. I started it but havenβt picked it back up cuz I want to finish what I started w/GG 1st.
And! I started watching Bird Box last night, bc I still havenβt watched it. I had to turn it off when the littles were done bathing and was going to pick it back up in bed, but I fell asleep. βΉοΈ
Tasha, I just saw the ad for Sweet Magnolias and it does look good! Enjoy Bird Box…it was fun…creepy fun that is π
I crashed hard last night and slept well for the first time in a week!! I can’t even believe it!
Here you are Michele!! So it’s working. π
Now to figure out what is being blocked on your other browser?
1. It is starting to get hot. Going into the mid to high 90s. I dont handle high heat well. Hopefully no fires anywhere this summer.
2. The fact that kpop fans and tik tok kids bought all those Trump rally tickets just makes me laugh.
3. I’ve seen talk about the long term effects of Covid and it is scary. If numbers are starting to spike again in summer it makes me worry for winter. Occasionally in comments I’ll see frontline workers pop up to remind people that this is very real and very scary, that this is not the time to be lax.
Two of my sons have covid and my husband too. This got very real, very fast. We are in Texas though. Our numbers are ridiculous.
I am sorry to hear that.
That is a lot to bear. For whatever it is worth sending thoughts and prayers your way.
Thank you! We have been so careful. Son wears mask and gloves at work. Itβs just so contagious.
OMG Lisa!!!!!
This is such a crazy virus. How are they feeling so far? How are you handling it?
My oldest (17) got it I think from work but who knows. He had low grade fever, a tiny bit of congestion and achy. Felt better in 48 hours. Seven days later 15 year old had same symptoms. Felt bad for 5 days. Two days later my husband. Although his fever got to 102. My youngest and I are hoping for the best that we donβt get it. Itβs weird because not a single cough or breathing issue. We are quarantined until 14 days after my husbandβs first symptom. All three of them said their legs were either feeling jello like or achy. My husbandβs lower back is still achy despite him feeling better. Also, he hasnβt stopped working (from home) and he said he feels like he has trouble concentrating. I think itβs the fatigue and he needs to rest but heβs a grown ass man. π
Oh thank goodness so far it’s sounding okay for you all. Did you and your youngest get tested at all?
Our dr said to get tested if we develop symptoms. If I donβt get it during this round, I might get the antibody test. Maybe Iβve had it but didnβt have symptoms. Thatβs what Iβm really hoping for!
Yes, we are so blessed that the symptoms have been mild. So many others have not been so lucky.
Iβm so ready for all this to be over. We have been so careful but still got it in our family. My husband NEVER gets sick.
The Kiss Quotient is on sale. Highly rec.
Also, TJ Klunes The House House in the Cerulean Sea, Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir and Intercepted by Alexa Martin are all on sale and were all pretty buzzy books.
The Bromance Book Club sounds cute too.
I loved the Bromance book
Club series!!
Excellent finds, and I’ll add them to tomorrow’s list. π
1. Got to see my son this weekend. He had been social distancing in his apartment. Was great to spend time with him.
2. I’m reading Winning hollywood’s goodest girl. Slow start, not sure I like the MC’s so far. We’ll see. Hoping at least for some laughs.
3. It’s hot and humid here. Spray painted some patio furniture and was definitely feeling the heat.
What color?
I love taking on refurbishing projects!
The bistro set and small patio table I painted boring, gloss white. I just did two bamboo/rattan chairs a leafy green for my dining room. Loving them, especially with the seats I recovered in a Schumacher chiang mai dragon fabric. π
I wish I could see!!!! I do love a lot of white, actually, so I bet they look great. I’m always fascinated with all white, shiny kitchens.
K.A. Tucker also writes other books under the name Nina West. I’m pretty sure it is classified as erotica, but it is smoking hot. I’ve read both series and am anxiously awaiting the 3rd book in the Mercy Fallen Series. Just finished The Wolf Hotel and it’s complete. I’m telling you these are the hottest books I’ve read in a while with a great story.
OMG how did I not know this??????
YAY SUSAN!!!! I’m off to research. π
I just saw that series at the end of The Player. I had never heard of Nina West but they are on KU so I got book one. Happy little surprise there. I just thought it was me who was missing out.
Ok, on to ep two of my new show.
Maryse, you’ve got to check it out. Even if it’s just around the first 10 min which is pretty cool.
Also, just saw that Katie Fforde has some KU books. I havent read her in years, my library had a small collection. British and walk the line between romance and women’s fiction I’d say, but dont get as dramatic as women’s fiction. Usually an older heroine starting something new, but if I remember correctly they were fun and charming and felt very British, lol.
Okay bev! I got a late start last night but tonight’s the night, since I don’t have a big list to prepare, I can use my eyes to read the subtitles.
Also thank you for the recommendation! I’m adding to the Tuesday list in the recommendations section. π
Just got House of Leaves. Looks so interesting. I canβt remember the last time I held a real book in my hands. Itβs big! And heavy! I have to finish The Player before jumping in with HOL. I always one click KA Tucker but unlike you Maryse I am not feeling it. I am only 30% in, time for The plot To change.
I am a big hiker and Sunday was naked hiker day. No I didnβt hike naked but many did.
