HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!! π I hope everyone had a fun and fulfilling weekend and/or a calm and peaceful one. 15 new books on today’s early bird list and I’ll be adding more as I find them. π
βThree Thingsβ:
1.) I’ve been scolded… because I don’t listen. π
2.) And because I don’t listen, I’m sunburnt. Plus I have ONE handprint on my upper chest where I put a bit of sunscreen (I hate the feel of sunscreen). The rest is sunburnt. π Why? ‘Cause I don’t listen. It rubs the sunscreen on its skin or else it gets the sunburn again! <— That’s me right now.
3.) Luckily… for some strange reason, I’m not crazy-sunburned and I’m not suffering. Just… sufficiently “new-summer pink”. Aloe gel actually works really well! Thank goodness for aloe.

This weekend I read Torn and Tied by Carian Cole. Both very good books (except for the rushed ending). I
m trying to read the bonus scene, but the link is supposed to send it automatically by email and it
s not. Does anyone have the bonus scene to share? Is it ending up in your spam box, Harper? Or in your “social” or “Promotions” tab if you’re on gmail?
Hi Harper,
I also read a Carian Cole book this weekend. Talon (Ashes & Embers, #4). GR rating was 4.47 so I thought why not. It’s one in a series about a rock band. (great book cover)
This one is about Talon and Asia. They agree to be in a social experiment to get married and live together for 6 months. Weird sounding, I know but it works. The relationship building and chemistry between these two is well done, and Talon as a husband-in-training is wonderful to watch. Secondary band characters (his brothers) supportive.
Loved it. Rated this one 4.5 βββββ
It’s not there, Maryse. The link didn’t work at all =( Thanks, though.
I read Talon a few weeks ago, Mony. It was very similar to Married at First Sight, right?! I liked it, but miscommunication always gets to me, something that doesn’t happen in this spin-off series and made me love it a lot more just for that haha.
Hi Harper,
Haven’t read Married at First Sight…so can’t say. π
Yes, it did have that miscommunication stuff at the end…ugh, why can’t writers be creative? Frankly, it was Talon that made the story so cool. Great book boyfriend over time. π
I was talking about the show Married at First Sight (reality tv). Couples that are selected by a group of professionals and see each other for the first time at the altar. They have to touch base with the professionals during the marriage and then, after a while, they decide if they want to stay married or get a divorce, just like the book.
Yes, I love Carian Cole heros. They make the best book boyfriends.
I think it was you who recommended The Fallen Men series. Just finished Welcome to the Dark Side and Zeus is absolutely the best book boyfriend and the age gap is written so perfectly.
Good morning! I miss you guys and hope everyone is staying safe. Esp Maryse & Robin…what the heck are you guys doing down in florida and texas?!?! I haven’t been reading at all so not much to say on that front. Tasha, your daughter’s products are awesome! I’d totally buy them if I had pets. Maryse, how in the world do you survive in florida without sunscreen?? Bev, I want to see Hamilton!! I need to get one of those chromecast things so I can get Disney on my tv. Can you imagine what it would have been like seeing the original production in New York??
1, I bought an instant pot (for the 2nd time as I returned first one) and am DETERMINED to learn to like it. With all these months of no more eating out, I needed a new method of cooking. Any tips or recipes, please send them my way.
2, My herb garden is growing nicely but something is nibbling on my basil!! Grrrrr. My pilea babies are getting huge and so are my bromeliads. Fingers crossed that they actually bloom.
3, I started up bike riding every day that the weather permits with my son for us to get out of house. It has felt great to get some exercise. I may not have a handprint tanline, but I do look ridiculous…my arms are wicked tan in spots plus small section of my chest. I look like a self tanner application gone wrong. π€£
Thanks Leslie. βΊοΈ I missed seeing you around here, glad to hear updates on what youβve been up to.
It’s been bad here, especially in my county because we’re in a tourist area and people are flocking here in droves. Our positivity rating is almost as high as the state’s. I’m staying in and we’re locking the gates! Thanks for checking on everyone!
I’m so glad you’re here Leslie!!!
Florida is pretty scary right now, but I just do my best to stay away at a distance from people, rely on my deliveries for my food (with rare occasions to stock up on cheese the grocery store π )
And I’m RARELY EVER in the sun here in Florida, so it’s easy. I’m a shade girl, but this time I didn’t listen. Felt like I needed the sun for my own mood and health, and it was slightly overcast at times so not excruciatingly hot.
But then… sunburnt!
Overcast or hazy days are sometimes the worst sunburns.
So true! Except for my virgin skin areas, I have enough of a base where I won’t burn, but I notice I get darker on overcast days. And I stay under the umbrella as much as possible!
Maryse, we went to USA in summer. But in Australia the sun is so very strong. Within 15 minutes you can get burnt. I have olive skin. But my girls are fair. We went away one summer if was so hot 46 degrees about 120 Celsius. I think we started to cook. Sooo hot. You canβt even walk outside unless you have a hat, zinc on your nose and cheeks shoulders. We even have special tshirts for the sun.
Glad you are all staying safe.
I am reading such a great book Scarlet Stone by Jewel E Ann. Really great read.
Love this line β when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at changeβ
HOLY MOLY hotness, Melinda!!!!!
When it gets that hot (actually I don’t think it ever gets that hot here, in Florida) I don’t even bother going out. Anything above 95 is a no. LOL!!!!
Also, I LOVE that line too. WOW!!!!
Seeing Hamilton with that cast on stage would of been amazing.
It’s nice to see you again.
3 things extended –
4, My local farm stand had 10 zucchini for $1!!! Anyone have a zucchini bread recipe?? I see lots of zoodles in my future.
I LOVE zucchini bread, zucchini lasagna and of course, zoodles!
I used to despise sunscreen. I rarely burned and I tanned super dark. Then I had kids and I think I was the palest Iβd ever been so when we went out and I was diligent in lathering them up, I just threw it on myself too. My Grandma got skin cancer, my Mom too. I donβt want it so I wear the sunscreen.
1. Cutting more fabric today and sorting tubs for getting rid of kids clothes.
2. Finishing Home Before Dark.
3. What to make for dinner?
So lucky about your tanning ability. I don’t tan at all, and because of that, I don’t ever go in the sun. I have no idea what got over me this weekend, but I just felt like I NEEDED the sun, you know?
It was nice… and my burn isn’t that bad (won’t peel or anything and didn’t keep me up at night) so I obviously shaded myself a bunch even with my sun basking. LOL! Just my upper thighs and chest. Not even my face – just a nice coloring on my face, which makes me think my moisturizer has SPF in it. I’ll need to check.
Sometimes I need the sun too. Although now itβs sweltering every day and I donβt want to go out. I crave grey skies and rain.
So, I finished Home Before Dark. Highly recommend this one also! Itβs one you donβt wanna put down. Jaw dropping moments. Really, really hit the spot! I finished a booooook. *happy dance*
OMG I LOVE HEARING THAT!!!!!!!!! I loved Amityville so I’m excited to try this one. Thank you book-twin!
By the way, I didn’t even care about the cost, after reading your reaction-comments over the last few days, I HAD to one-click it.
Though I love my rainy days, we so need that sunshine sometimes, lol. I love the feel of the warm sun on my back. And of course vitamin d.
Me too. I was in such a great mood all weekend because of that sunny day. I needed it.
1. I got a new swimsuit so I have 2 nice red stripes on my chest where I wasn’t tanned before. I’ll be digging up some aloe soon.
2. We had a long weekend so no reading happened. I’m 30 pages into House of Leaves and I’m really interested in where it’s going but it’s a slow read for me. I can only manage about a chapter per night.
3. My husband’s making breakfast outside on the flat grill and I’m starving!!! Bacon, eggs, and homemade grilled sourdough. Yumm!
I’m just finishing up “You Were There Too” (in the last quarter now) and it’s so good. I’ve skimmed lightly through Leaves ’cause it’s so freaky to see the pages…
My issue will be the same as yours. Only able to read a few chapters a day after work and blogging, because of lack of light at night. Since I work I go to bed early, and my lighting auto-darkens and then off every night for a proper sleep cycle, so there are no reading lamps during my week.
I always feel so much more energized when I’m out in the sunshine. Sunscreen is great, but I seem to always miss some area. π
I had to learn a hard lesson on spray sunblock and wind…. I have a huge red line down my leg where the sunscreen didnβt make it. Ugh I look great in shorts.
By the way Susan Fanetti has a new Pagano Brothers book out. Itβs the last one in this series.
OMG on the stripes we’re all sporting right now. π
And thank you for letting me know about the new Pagano!! I’ll add it right now.
What’s for dinner?!? π€ That’s the million dollar question isnt it?
I forgot to thaw out chicken I had planned so now it’s BLT’s. You can never go wrong with bacon, right? π
BLTs and Club Sandwiches are my favorite!!!!!
Perfect for us rents and the older 1, the littles donβt like to chew though. π
Iβm thinking sloppy joes. But, I dk how much effort I wanna put into it. Cuz I was gonna do a homemade cornbread with it and Iβd have to go to the store. *sigh*
My BOTM came!! I never stalk tracking anymore, so Iβm truly surprised, lol. It was Mexican Gothic. Iβm starting tonight. π
Oh, I have that book. I love the cover.
Buddy read??
I tried Hamilton, btw. I canβt. I never could get into history in school (unless it was told in a way that really fascinated me, there were moments) and Iβm so lost and canβt focus. I do better with historical fiction.
Sure. I’ll start later tonight.
Yeah, I sometimes enjoy biographies, history, and went through a long period of old Hollywood musicals. So for me it is just a food mix. Plus, I’ve lived with the cast album for so long.
But can see how the story structure wouldn’t be for everyone.
Yay! Ok, Iβm finally able to start. Iβm so tired though, hoping I can do at least a half hour tonight.
Hey Tasha,
Would love to hear whether Mexican Gothic was a good read. β
Will let you know!
Ooh ooh, I have a release tomorrow! It’s a very dark romance, like classic Skye Warren <3 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084VTM3S2
Oh yes!!! And I have already created a series post for it!! π
*ahem* which will go live tomorrow along with Diamonds!!!
Excited about Susan Fannettiβs Pagano Brothers book that is out. I really liked the series. My favorite was HIDDEN WORTHINESS.
