HAPPY MONDAY YET AGAIN!!! I hope everyone’s weekend was fun and fabulous. Did you read? 😀 If not, maybe one from these early birds will strike your fancy. 😉
<— P.S. I posted this late Sunday night ’cause this one went LIVE super-early (Sunday!!) 😀 So here they all are, while I’m at it.
THREE THINGS:
1.) I started reading “Flock” by Kate Stewart. So far so good, and you KNOW Dominic has me intrigued. I love his moody bossiness! HOT!
2.) I made my mom’s delicious “Chinese spaghetti” (chicken, stir fried/sauteed veggies like broccoli and mushrooms, soy sauce annnnnd… for me? ZOODLES!) I also made my favorite Greek green beans.
3.) My friend and I went to eat at Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen and I LOVE it there. I had the most amazing spring rolls that were one of the most delicious things I ever had (MUFFULETTA SPRING ROLLS), but the avocado toast I had (with yummy blackened shrimp on top) … meh. The salad and the fruit and the shrimp on that dish were amazing but the avocado had a weird bitter taste. It didn’t look like it was freshly mashed and lacked flavor. I won’t be ordering that again.
4.) I watched two movies while I worked on my blog yesterday. Of course, you know me… I was in the mood for psych-horror/psych-thrillers and both were pretty good!! I’d give 4 stars for each. “You’re Not Alone” <— A mother and her young daughter (they barely know each other because the mom tried to commit suicide and therefore daughter was with her father) move in together after the father’s death, and creepy-scary stuff starts happening in the house. A ghost?? A demon? A presence for sure. Oh boy! Its as an easy watch for me, in regards to it being easy to follow even while I was working and not so scary (for me). I liked the ending.
And then I watched Every Breath You Take (this was psych-thriller for sure) with Casey Affleck. He’s a psychiatrist, and after the suicide of one of his patients that seemed to be doing so well, her brother ends up befriending the psychiatrist’s family (but he’s… stalker-creepy, let’s just say). Scary at points (not horror-scary, but psycho-scary) and an amazing twist in the end! Very good (and great acting!!) And also super easy to follow while I worked.

Oh my gosh Maryse,
Dom had my heart. Can’t wait to hear what you think.
He’s TOTALLY my kind of book boyfriend. I’m not so interested in Sean though I have a feeling this will be sort of a love triangle. Either way, I’m having fun reading it!
That is quite a release list. Loved my ARC of Lost & Found. Bree and Yanis drew me in completely from the very beginning.
YAY!!! Thank you for letting us know, Pam!! 😀
1. I had some time to myself this weekend and watched so much! No reading, cuz I knew I wouldn’t get as far as I’d like. Need more time! So, I watched Fear Street Part 1 & 2 and so excited the conclusion is out this Friday!! Seriously so proud of myself for making it through some scary movies and really enjoyed the story line.
2. Also watched 2 not so good movies, Good on Paper and The Tomorrow War.
Oh, AND watched a couple episodes of The Flight Attendant and I’m really into it. ☺️
3. Also got like 7 loads of laundry done and cleaned the floors, super exciting. 😂
I’ve never heard of Fear Street and now I’m intrigued!! 😀
It’s actually based on a book series by RL Stein, which I did not know until I looked it up after the 1st. I went into it thinking it would be episodes, but was pleasantly surprised they were in movie form. And they gave me a nostalgic sort of feeling watching them, a nod to the scary movies I grew up with in the 90s, back when I wasn’t a scaredy cat. Lol! Predictable, but doable for me and again, loved the story line. Enjoyed Part 2 more than part 1 and part 3 looks CREEPY!
YAY!!!!!! Sounds up my alley!! Is it on Netflix? Prime? Hulu?
Netflix 😁
YAY ME!!!! I’ll watch it while I work on the Tuesday release list. 😀
Hope you enjoy it!! 🤞👻
1. I finished “The Mixtape” by Brittainy Cherry, and as usual, she took my breath away! Every time I read one of her books, I learn something new about myself. She just has a way of writing emotions that bring you all the feels! I feel everything that her characters go through the entire way through. She is simply amazing! Don’t miss out on this one! Oliver will tug at your heartstrings and I want Emery as a best friend! And her daughter is just hilarious and adorable! “Every person in this world has a mixtape of sorts, a collection of tracks that defines their lives. Each memory is a song, and they all come together to create a masterpiece. So, tell me your story. What lyrics, what melodies, live on your mixtape?”
2. I spent my entire Saturday deep cleaning my entire downstairs. It rained for most of the day so it was a perfect day to do it. This was the first free weekend that I’ve had free in months so I took full advantage of it. Aside from that, my weekend was pretty low key.
3. I’m currently reading “Enthrall” by Vanessa Fewings. It came up as a recommendation on Amazon. I’m just starting it and trying to get a feel for the three main characters. It’s an interesting dynamic so far that I believe eventually becomes a love triangle. It does have somewhat of a FSOG feel to it, but in this case, our inexperienced heroine works at a very private BDSM club. Anyone else read it?
Maryse I’m so excited that your reading “Flock!” That entire series tore me apart! I have yet to read the third book. When I read the series initially, the third book hadn’t been released yet. I’m saving it for now. I’ll eventually go back to re-read the series and then go on to read that one. Enjoy!
YAY Thank you Cristina! I can’t wait to get back to it. 🙂
And thank you for the feedback on Mixtape. I do love that author.
Also, I love deep cleaning… but this weekend I focused on my blog projects. 😉
Just started Up to this Pointe a YA I’ve had on my tbr for forever. A heat wave seems like a good time to start a book partially set in Antarctica.
Also, going to start Brooklynaire because the Heaving Bosoms podcast is reading it and it can be fun to read along with the episodes occasionally.
I miss reading a long with you guys. Like when we’d all be on here talking about the books we were reading.
Me too.
1. Life in the Forest. A bald eagle flew over the cottage this morning. Dock swimming’s back (after 60F days). 🏊♀️ J & A caught a lake trout for last night’s supper 🐟
2. Roof leak at the woodstove pipe (can’t use pasta pot). Moved the outhouse over its newly dug hole. Cottage toilet leak fixed. Fishing boat motor conked out & under repairs.
3. Can’t believe it but last night we ended up chatting about trends in romance books & movies with our kids… guys & love, portrayal of women, gender fluidity, sexual revolution…Was lots of fun. Wine was involved.🍷
Maryse, I want MUFFULETTA SPRING ROLLS!
How did I miss not one but two books by J Bengtsson. A automatic buy. One is Next in Line and Hunker Down. Just started Next in Line. My summer reading list is growing. Just finished Pam Godwin’s Lesson in Sin. Another author I always read. However I did pickup her Deliver Us books 1 to 6. They are released on Audible as 2 books. I can’t seem to put my head into this space. Funny how we change and the environment around us can cause this change. I find being in a fragile state (Covid) changes what I want to read. I want to feel good, laugh and defiantly have a HEA! So I may save Deliver for a rainy day in the far future.
From your recommendation I purchased 44 Chapters about 4 Men and pulled up the Netflix of Sex/Life. Just started when my kids had to come downstairs. They are older and it is still embarrassing!
Just barely into Brooklynaire but already like the Heroine’s voice.
“My sister is kind of an idiot. Always has been. And yet she snagged a man who truly loves her. Every time I think about them I want to throw up a little. And that was before I got a concussion.”
Ooh I read Brooklynaire. I think I’m still waiting for the library to get the most recent in that series? Sometimes they are so slow at getting new books.
I’m in the middle of The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren. It’s not bad but it’s not drawing me either. And oops I’ve only got 12 hours left… it was part of the 7 that became available all at once!
I’ve been debating with that one. I’ve heard good things but I’ve read one CL book I adored and one I found meh.
It got a bit better for me. I wouldn’t consider it a waste of my time.
I followed it up with Jock Royal. I got into that one a bit more. Typical me, finding and reading something in Kindle unlimited instead of the library books that are about to expire!
