<— BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!! LOOK WHAT ELSE JUST WENT LIVE!! Mia Sheridan’s “Travis” IS LIVE!! Sequel to our beloved “Archer’s Voice” (<— I gave it 5 stars!!) and I’m squeeeeeing!! SHE IS CRUSHING ON THE COP…
“…it might prove a summer to remember. Especially if she can catch the attention of the most eligible bachelor in town and her current crush. Even the kindest, most upstanding, perfect of men aren’t opposed to summer flings, right?
But when she meets the local police chief—all swagger and arrogance—and learns of her brother’s scandalous misdeed, she knows that Pelion is just another town where their stay is best . . . short-lived. Still, she and Travis strike up an unlikely friendship and Haven sees that the gorgeous lawman isn’t only easy on the eyes, but he has . . . layers…”
HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!!! I hope your weekend was full of awesomeness and happiness and peace. 😀 And now… it’s time to start our book week.
THREE THINGS:
1.) I bought 2 more of my favorite plants this weekend… including a plant I learned about from Danika Dark!! She’s my favorite plant person and I think we’ve become “plant buddies”. LOL! Anyway, I bought two more “Rattlesnake plants” (that’s the one I learned about from her). I bought one in 2019 from Amazon and it was tiny and it’s doing GREAT. And these two that I bought today are twice it’s size, so I’m thrilled. Just an awesome and fascinating plant all around.
2.) My friend and I went to an ENORMOUS flea market in Mount Dora (near Orlando) and we were overwhelmed. Everything from plant nurseries, to antiques, to artist-y stuff to food to… just about everything and anything. The biggest flea market I’ve ever been to. We only did about a quarter of it. I almost think to see the whole thing, you’d need to do both Saturday AND Sunday (all day-each day). Incredible.
3.) I bought a few plant stands and a Monstera Swiss (that is HUGE!!) while I was there. My version of heaven!

Good morning!
1. I finished Whisper Down the Lane over the weekend and LOVED it! Many of the reviews mentioned it being predictable but I don’t think it was intended to have surprise reveals so much as a lingering “what if.” If you remember the satanic panic of the 80s and are a fan of old school occult horror, this is a must read.
2. I finally started Deliverance by NN Britt and I’m loving it so far! Her writing style was made for me!
3. I just got a dragon tree, a yucca palm, and a canna lily. This week I’m getting a bunch of succulents for the window sill in our kitchen. It will be a miracle if any of it survives the year.
Oh I have a canna Lilly that I bought a couple of weeks ago. I LOVE it except that it’s messy when the flowers die.
Beautiful when it has new blooms though.
It is messy! I have mine on my patio so at least the wind blows the dead flowers away.
Is it common for them to die so soon? I feel like it just bloomed and the flowers only lasted a few days!
I think mine only last a day before they look all decrepit and then fall off a day or so after. Though my flowers always stick to all the leaves due to the morning dew and get all brown and yucky.
Such a beautiful flower for such a mess to ruin the appearance. 😂😂😂
1. Put off going to the grocery store for too long now need to go. Definitely coffee on the way.
2. On a reading streak! Yay!
3. Can’t wait for the new Kleypas as have seen some positive buzz.
Not to bring the mood down, but really curious. Any other vaccinated people on here feel like your weighing all the info and risks about going out and about unmasked?
I feel pretty comfortable–probably too comfortable, considering where I live.
Yeah, here it’s on an up swing (knew that was coming) but not like in other places, especially my area. So still going without a mask, except in required areas, and taking it one day at a time.
I LOVE that you’re reading again bev!!!!
And I’m one that puts off grocery shopping for as long as I can, too. Hence my subscription boxes for veggies and meat.
I should look into those. Ordering my dog food and treats from chewy each month is definitely something I’m sticking with.
Bev
Please make sure the treats and food are NOT from China. A couple of years ago I was giving my cocker spaniel, Gracie, chewies that she just loved but she kept having diarrhea. Took her to vet and they said only to use rawhide from USA. China sprays it with something that smells and tastes good and makes the hide roll up easier but has lots of chemicals in it. As soon as I quit giving those to her no more tummy troubles.
That’s good to know. I dont always check where they are made. I’m glad your vet was able to figure it out.
Going to lose myself in a book today. We had to say goodbye to our fur baby Piper today. It was a hard decision but the right one as doggy dementia is devastating. We are giving lots of love to our McCovey as he has never been an only dog in the house. It will be a big adjustment for him and for us:(
I’m sorry to hear that. It is so hard to lose a pet.
Thank you!
I’m so sorry Kathy. I know that loss and it still breaks my heart when I think of my Pixel. She was my first minpin and my very best friend. 15 years of an amazing and happy life though, and in the end it was due to similar issues regarding age.
Thank you Maryse. McCovey who is the dog in my picture has definitely figured that something is off. heartbreaking!
I’m so very sorry to hear this. It’s so heartbreaking. Know I’m sending you cyber hugs.
That happened to us once. The dog left behind was so sad and kept waiting by the door or would go out the doggie door and check all over the back yard for Shelby. It got so that I was reluctant to leave the house because I didn’t know how Pepper would handle it. It took a couple of months for me to quit seeing Shelby out of the corner of my eye occasionally and things returned to our normal. About 4 months later we got another puppy who proceeded to shake up our family and keep us on our toes. But whenever I hear someone say “oh it’s just a dog” it really makes me mad. My dog mourned for her friend and companion for a long time and she felt sadness and she didn’t understand where she went.
Thanks Julie for your sweet words. I keep saying “Feed the dogs” and now it is so weird to just say “Feed McCovey”. We will eventually get another companion for McCovey but will wait a few months. As I type, McCovey is curled up next to me.
Just made this and pretty good.

This looks yummy, Bev!
OMG I WANNA EAT THIS. I think I’ll make it this weekend (and my “pasta” will actually be no-carb Shirataki noodles). YAY!!!! I’m so excited!
P.S. I buy the “fettuccini” shaped ones always, so this will be perfect!
1. Made my first Dutch baby (German Pancake) this morning. Was delish and so super easy w/easy cleanup. New fave and will be making more varieties. Like, savory. 😋
2. Finished up competitive swim season this weekend and went to the drive in. Long weekend. Busy start to the week also. Just a few weeks left of summer. I am and am not ready to get back into the swing of things.
3. Read a little of 2 different books- Survive the Night & The People We Keep. Liking them both, but can’t hear myself think.
I’d like to start making “chaffles” (no carb “waffles” that consist of cauliflower and eggs… cheese – sometimes JUST cheese and extra stuff).
But they are extremely messy and I hate messy.
Tell me about the books, Tasha. 😀
Well, maybe for a not so messy treat, a keto Dutch baby. Just incorporate the savory stuff on top. 😉
The People We Keep, I’m a little farther into. It’s told in the h’s voice. She’s 16 or something and in a rough home life in a small town where people rarely leave. She feels stuck, has stars in her eyes and has some talent as a singer/songwriter and in an increasingly tough situation and some bad decisions, runs away. With little money and underage, life on the road and homeless in winter or close to winter, she struggles until she catches a bit of a break with some good people and a budding relationship….and that’s all I can say. And pretty well where I left off.
Survive the Night, I’m very early into. Also told in the h’s voice, college aged. Leaving college, in fact, right away with a stranger she met while posting a flyer on a board wanting a ride home. Though, somehow not a stranger bc she met him once. This is set in the 90s with pay phones still a thing. Also, she’s traumatized by the death of her roommate- implied killed by- a stranger. *blink* and I’m now at the part where he picks her up, in the dark, alone, where there’s still a killer on the loose and her boyfriend who she loves very much and vise versa leaves her to wait bc he’s cold and she told him he could. 😒 And yet, I’m still really into it. Lol!
