HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!! 😀 I slept SOOOOOO well last night, that I woke up fully refreshed and ready for the week. Though, as you can tell, I’m a bit late with today’s post, and am working on it as we speak. I decided to read and relax late into the night in an epsom salt & bubble bath and it was amazing.
I’m starting to believe the whole “Epsom salts help you sleep” theory (due to the magnesium I guess)? This is the one I use. I’ve been giving it a go for a whole week, and throughout the whole of last week, I have slept like a baby (deep, and if I wake up… I go right back to sleep). Also, for some reason I find sleeping with “Beat Bobby Flay” on marathon play all night soothes me. Supposedly sleeping with the TV on is disruptive, but I’ve never slept so well in my life (and the beautiful dark blue colors and subdued lighting and peaceful mood on that show are just… soothing).
THREE THINGS:
1.) I spray painted 2 wooden stools this weekend (a gorgeous super-white/ultra-matte color – this is the one I’m using but I got my cans from Walmart). I’m not really all that great at spray painting, mind you. 😉 You’re supposed to do those light airy strokes gently back and forth, dry and do it again until it’s evenly covered. Yeah. My patience is not so great. I’m more heavy-handed, though now I have to deal with the consequences. Drips… I’m looking at you! *hrmph* 😑 😂 And my stupid impatience!!! LOL!!
2.) Who knew how much I would love a digital picture frame?? I’ve always known about them but never bothered because why would I? I have all my pictures on my laptop and I can look at them or print them whenever I want. But… I now have one, and it’s a big one (approximately 8.5 x 11 size), and I can’t believe I lived so long without it. Now I can have every picture I love (100s of pictures!!), just rotating out for me non stop. So soothing and the photos make me smile so much. So many amazing memories and I get to relive at them without any effort at all.
3.) I didn’t cook a single thing this weekend, since my meal kits (the last 2 batches – I have some from “Factor” – which I haven’t tasted yet – and some from “Rebuilt Meals” which I AM LOVING!!!) are already prepared and just need warming up. I AM LOVING these!!! So easy… and so far… REALLY yummy! I’ve been posting (and will continue posting) photos of my meal kits on my Instagram, so you can see what I think (and what they look like). P.S. There are also photos of me and my archery fun. 😉

1. Good fishing this year. We think lake fish are more plentiful this & last summer due to less access with Quebec & Canada closing borders off & on.
2. Toddler grandson & I have been picking pine branchlets, berries (his idea-no!), etc. to put in / take out of kitchen plasticware…foreeeever.
3. My hair roots look horrible once again. I left for the lake the day before salons opened. 🙁
Mony
When the salons were closed for so long I couldn’t get my hair colored or streaked and of course I just ended up piling it on top of my head. I didn’t go anywhere anyway. So when the day came to get a haircut decided to go shorter and that took off all my yucky colored hair and guess what? All my hair was a dark gray. I am older and I rather like it. I really like the shade and around my face the gray is more a silver color. So I will be saving some money now. I have found that after the last year and a half I have been more tolerant. Maybe because we have all been under such pressure. I’m more willing to let all the little things slide, like my gray hair, and saving myself for the bigger fights which I feel may come. Sorry I dumped all this on you Mony. My fingers wouldn’t stop. Enjoy you days on vacation.
Thank you JulieO. Your comment to Mony is very inspirational for me.
Wow, thanks Julia. It’s been interesting to see how women have dealt with not being able to colour or cut their hair at a salon. Some of my friends have either let their hair go grey or have grown their hair long. I have to say some of the changes have been quite flattering. One of the Canadian TV newscasters now has metal grey hair & it’s lovely. She talked about that during her newscast.
During the pandemic, my husband & daughter have coloured my hair & have done a great job. My husband even cut my hair into a pixie cut. 8/10. 🙂 (I also have become more tolerant about how my hair looks.)
We’re all chilling this summer so I haven’t wanted to ask them to take the time. But I think I’d feel better with it done. 🙂 Vanity living in a society that values youth. 😎
She’s on tiktok. So exciting. Your giggle is my favorite
I love some #spicybooktok. You have a million recommendations for that video (s)
Ohhh I need to investigate!!!
LOL!!!!! 😂 ❤️
I have not been commenting because i have such a summer book slump. I can’t wait til fall. Then I saw your tik tok and was so excited. I have been to the blog several times a week as always but nothing has me over the moon
Well Liz, I’m glad you’re here. Even if it’s not books, if something is exciting you, please come over and share with us!!! I love checking everything out and learning or experiencing new things.
I hate when you go to the library to pick up a book and then find out it’s the day of the week they are closed.
Those meals look great. I’ve been trying to cook some easy meals, but may pick up some ready made options when I go to the store in a bit. It is just too hot.
I am so against all food for the last month because of the heat.
