HAPPY MONDAY & START OF A NEW WEEK!!! I’m trying to get back on my very-controlled “health-track” (I’ve been a bit lazy over the last month or so) so today is an extra special day for me. 😀 I’m still working on the early bird book releases, so keep checking back for the next hour or so.
In the meantime…
THREE THINGS:
1.) I’m reading a book that was highly recommended by Shirley, and I am totally into it. Enthralled. It’s The Moonlight Child by Karen McQuestion and the female villain almost reminds me of a Tarryn Fisher villain. 😉 Yep. I’m glad I chose this one next. A few very important characters and each have their own POVs but it’s easy to follow, and I can’t wait to see how this one explodes.
2.) I’m doing a sort of… 3 to 5 day “egg fast” diet right now (I’m still deciding on how long I want to do it) to kick start me back into Ketosis (and yummily-at that) 😉 I have been a bit bad over the last month or two (carb wise – or calories wise? Both), and need to curb it. Now of course, it’s not at all “a fast”, since I’m eating full on calories that my day requires of me, however it’s very controlled if you follow the instructions, which I’m … sort of doing. 😉 I don’t follow all the rules well. One thing I realized is I do much better making omelettes (I look forward to those) than boiled eggs (I like ’em, but not all day) *shudders*. You can make the eggs any way you want ’em, so yay me! Some egg fast diets say it’s okay to include low carb veggies in your meal, and some say just EXACTLY 3 meals: 2 eggs, up to 2 ounces of cheese, and 2 tablespoons of a healthy fat (3x a day) and nothing more. *sigh* THIS is where I fail. I’m making an omelette? It’s going to have that… AND veggies in the middle. Bring on the western omelette! Just saying. I’m a veggie freak. Here’s the one I’m mostly “doing” because she says veggies are fine (so… 😉 when what I prefer is approved, I go for it. LOL!) WARNING!!! There is much debate on why this is an effective diet – lots of egg nutrients etc etc that assist the liver in burning fat? Something like that… (But also WHY IT IS NOT a good diet – or people say it’s just a calorie restriction and so you lose weight no matter what – and also of course, that the Keto diet is controversial so always consult your doctor first). But I mean… three to five days? For me… how bad can it be? I’m eating protein, healthy fats, veggies… and it’s yummy!
3.) I bought a 64oz water bottle from Amazon that I LOVE. I use it all day every day, since Friday. Drinking all my water, healthy, hydrated, happy. That is until I dropped it this morning in the parking lot at work and the whole bottom cracked. Stupid cheap plastic! In the recycling bin it goes. Grr. So Nalgene replacement, it is! It’s half the size (32oz) but not a big deal to fill it up twice in a day. The image is the color I chose. I LOVE it!

I just saw that book you’re reading somewhere, didn’t read the synopsis but now have and sounds intriguing!
1. Kids went back to school mid week last week and I’ve sort of started getting back into reading more. I’ve got about 30 pages left of People We Meet on Vacation (which I bought at an indie bookstore on vaca, ironically, bc it rained so much while we were there) and I love it so much!! I’m so glad it’s hitting all those buttons I had hoped Beach Read would for me. The chemistry and interactions are on point and the traveling, perfect end of summer read. Also read The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives this month and liked it pretty well. Hoping to finish Survive the Night yet this month and knock a little chunk off my tbr.
2. Snagged a PSL at Dunkin on a whim the other day and was disappointed. First I’ve ever had from there and wouldn’t again. Tasted super mild and like flavored milk rather than coffee. And grabbed one from Bigby today and it hit the spot! I believe Starbucks releases there’s tomorrow. I’m there! 😜 The barista said they’re doing some apple macchiato thing too and that might appeal to some. For me though it’s like fruit and chocolate. Just not something I seek out. Lol
3. Super overwhelmed with after school activities this year and the start of middle school means probable new homework load. And who knows what else. I’m not handling the change well. That and the slower pace Covid allowed last year was a little bit of a blessing. Feel like I’m thrown right back in the gauntlet of rushing around everywhere. And I’ve really committed to potty training. 😬 I dk why I’ve waited so long and feel like it’s so much harder this time around, but it is. But, we’ll get there. He’s doing awesome pants-less. But only that way so far. It’s a start, I’ll take it. 😂
OMG an apple macchiato would be my DREAM “coffee”. LOL!! I want it!!!!
LOL!! Like what do you mean he’s doing well pants-less? I’m so curious. Like if he doesn’t have pants on, he doesn’t do his business? But if he does, the pants get it?!
I’ve been trying to stay home all day, besides taxiing, and leave him bare. He never has an accident *knock on wood* and goes without instruction, if not too frequently. But if covered at all, he’s never accident free. Yet. 🤞 He doesn’t seem to mind if it’s in undies either so I’m doing bare for a while.
Tasha, that sounds like a difficult transition. Plus nothing easy about doing this with a pandemic underway. Hope things ease up…
I think the easing up is more about how I process. Trying to tell myself to chill, frequently, and disappear in some good books.
I feel guilty keeping them out of sports or activities they love, but need my sanity as well. Always has been hard for me as a homebody as well. And on the other side of that, they go stir crazy at home too much.
But, my calendar makes me 🤯
I loved People We Meet on Vacation! Beach Read wasn’t quite what I expected.
1. Man I wish I would have seen your post before I scarfed those 2 sausage, egg, and cheese tacos this morning! We leave for Mexico Thursday and could use a kick start! We’ll definitely try it when we get back.
2. I’m usually one to diet pretty hardcore before vacation, but this time we decided to do it there. Lots of seafood and walking. And alcohol, but that’s neither here nor there. 😆
3. I started Nine Perfect Strangers over the weekend and I’m hooked! Can’t wait to dive back in with new episodes!
LOL!! As long as the alcohol is not sugar-laden… you’re on the right track. Sorta. 😉
I just told my husband, “I should take these shoes so we can go walking every morning.” OMG the face he gave me. I had to follow it with, “We’ll stop for a beer every 200 feet!” 🤣
P.S. I LOVE breakfast so anything sausage, eggs and cheese is my happiness… (or bacon egg and cheese. Or ham egg and cheese) YUMMM!! probably why I’m doing well on these cheesy omelettes.
I filled my grocery “cart” with all the things so I’m doing this as soon as we get back! Poached egg arugula salad is my favorite!
Do you know if nuts/seeds are allowed? I saw it in a pic, but it doesn’t say.
Just 2 tablespoons of a healthy fat (so the other websites indicate that being olive oil or avocado (the actual fruit – I sort of make a guac with it – lemon juice & cilantro, salt and pepper) or, mayo…
I’m really not sure about nuts, but I’d think it should be fine? I mean not the main egg-fast Keto websites that are VERY strict. But this website I’m following seems to be lenient and it’s been working!!!
RR, hope you have a fabulous time in Mexico!! There can never be enough margaritas! 🍹
Thanks Mony! And I agree!
Yes, have so much fun in Mexico!!
I tend to make eggs for supper more than breakfast. It’s about the only way I make them anymore. And about as basic scrambled as you can get. All your dishes sound SO good!
Thank you! I can’t wait to get out of here!
Have a lovely time in Mexico, where in Mexico do you go? Bucket list and all. We are in lockdown again. Protests are nearly every second weekend, they are waiting for the vaccination rates to increase before they open up. We have 50 cases today. You’d think it was the end of the world.
We usually do an all-inclusive in Cozumel, but this time we’re going to Isla Mujeres off the coast of Cancun. My husband and I are staying 10 days in a couple different traditional Mexican hotels in “town.” Then some friends are meeting us and we’re renting a house on the water for a week.
50 cases. OMG we probably have that in our zip code.
That sounds wonderful, post lots of pics. One day the world will open up again.
1. I’ve been sipping my coffee while Max the roomba vacs our living room. I’m feeling productive.
2. Maryse, saw your post about eggs – yum – & remembered my old favourite…scrambled eggs, tomatoes & cheese and just had it. LOL Enjoy your omelettes!
3. I made Braised Chicken With Artichokes and Olives a couple nights ago – it was really good. Tonight, it’s chili dogs. 😉
That sounds amazing, relaxing while also cleaning. 😉
Also, sounds delish!
My mom used to make me scrambled eggs (just eggs and butter – no milk or cheese or anything) and I only liked “egg whites” when I was young, so I didn’t want the yellow eggs until she told me they were “popcorn” eggs.
And sure enough… they DO taste like popcorn and I LOVED them. I still make them now.
That gave a big laugh..mothers can be so clever!
I’ve been craving a good chili dog lately! Hope it was good!
OMG Mony that sounds delicious. Totally my thing… very Mediterranean.
