I love the cover of Wilde. And I love beta fish too! I once had one last years and was really proud of it, but my niece got a hold of him to “pet” when I was away. ☹️ But I’ve watched videos of cool set ups and cleaning processes for them as of late. Really neat!
1. I’m still reading My Sweet Girl. About to the halfway mark. I’m enjoying it. I like the flashbacks to Sri Lanka more than present day, I think. The girl is so jaded and has a foul mouth. It’s off putting. I read a review recently that said it was like a mix of Broken Girls (loved) and Girl on a Train (never read) and I’m hoping it’s a win for me.
2. Spent the weekend at home. The older 2 went to the fb game Friday night and camping fun with boyscouts Saturday. Swim lessons, cousin hangout Sunday. J and I hung here w/his cousin and worked/played around the house. Did a bunch of laundry, got a school 📸 outfit, sorted my linen closet for goodwill (made so much room, we don’t use top sheets so tossed all but a couple) got under my kitchen sink organized! I saw it on a blog. I really don’t use many of the bottles of cleaners, had a small trash can underneath, etc. so, took everything out, cleaned it, bought this cabinet tiered basket thing with 2 pull out drawers and put it in with mop head, rags, sponges and stuff in the bottom, dusting spray, garbage disposal cleaners, plant fertilizer, etc. in top basket. Then the trash can, then on the other side my dishwasher pods & a tension rod on top to hang my spray cleaners like for the dog messes & what not. Just a few there. Everything else went to a cabinet in the basement. And then a little command hook storage thing on the door for dish sponge. Looks so spacious and neat! And also hung up new swings on my swing set that was out front in the back for the boys. There’s so much more clean up to do out there, waiting on insurance though.
3. Watched a little this weekend. Have 2 more episodes of Ginny & Georgia. Really paced myself with that one. I really like that show, glad it got renewed. Then, on a whim, started Manifest. Was thinking it was like a cop drama show that I wouldn’t get too emotionally invested in. Within the first 15 min, I’m like, what the heck is this? In a good way. Just bizarre though! Lol
Bettas are toooooo cool. We did live plants, and driftwood, and a very natural look. It’s so pretty.
I ate fried plantains a lot in Mexico! I love them too!
1. I’m reading (and loving) Someday in Paris by Olivia Lara. I’m totally hooked. Today may be wasted.
2. I’m considering transitioning to the Mediterranean “diet.” I already follow it somewhat, I mean, obviously, I have the wine part down! I’d just need to (mostly) cut out red meat and add whole grains and fruit. The carbs in those things has always dissuaded me, but I’m beginning to think the satisfaction I’d get from those carbs might be a plus in the long run. Life is just so much easier with bread, you know?
3. Go Browns! I was a little worried during the first half, but we pulled it out. Our defense has some work to do tho!
Reading days are never wasted. 😉
My issue with Mediterranean is ONLY the pasta. I LOVE pasta more than any other food, but that’s my downfall, and bloating agent… etc etc…
But I agree… I would totally do it without any of the delicious pasta stuff. It’s so healthy and wonderful. I’d say Mediterranean is my favorite food.
I saw this when I was perusing Amazon for cookbooks. Maybe a middle ground? https://amzn.to/2XBg3fK
Just finished The Royals Next Door by Karina Halle and really enjoyed it. It kept me sane over the last week when I had to fly up to Spokane to take care of my college son (yes, just two weeks into college) who broke his wrist and needed emergency surgery. My hubby is going up next week when hopefully he gets his huge cast off for a smaller one. Learning to write and take notes with the left hand is not so easy but thankfully he is able to dictate on the computer his essays.
I’m glad you had sweet sanity books to help you through it.
Same happened to me when I visited my father in the hospital many years ago during his last days. That was the week I discovered R.L. Mathewson, and I will ALWAYS love her for that. Her sweet-funny stories kept me sane.
Maryse, I can’t even imagine how hard that must have been for you. Yes, books can definitely be our salvation in times of stress, sadness, and worry.
When I first got married, we got a beta fish. I was cleaning out his bowl and he fell down the garbage disposal (it wasn’t on) but eeek!!!! He actually survived it. I don’t even remember how he died in the end. My oldest son’s girlfriend gave him a beta and they put it in a cup of his water while they waited for his new, clean water to come to room temp and he literally jumped out of his cup and was laying on the counter for who knows how long! He also survived!!!!!!! I think I’ll just stick to dogs. 🙂
I also went to a Spanish restaurant this weekend and had plantains! Delicious! It was in Ybor, then took the cute trolley, which was free, up to the Tampa aquarium for an evening with the fishes event. My favorite part of the night was the trolley lol, like going back in time.
I took that trolley too!!!! In August on my birthday, and my best friend and I went to “Columbia” restaurant (though now I’m wondering if THAT was my first experience with Columbian food? I didn’t realize it at the time). SO MUCH FUN!!!! I did love that cute trolley too. We took it just for a joyride, all the way into Tampa and it brought as back to Ybor.
