My daughter’s birthday is this month too! I had to double check when you said Libras bc I’d always thought she was a Scorpio. She is, in fact, a Scorpio. Just born on the cusp of Libra/Scorpio so combination of drama/criticism. Sounds about right. 😂
LOL!!!
Everyone in my life is either a Scorpio, Virgo or a Libra. It’s just CRAZY. All in the same time frame (best friends, family members, exes and current). 😉
Weird, but also so cool! That’s a good mix. And yay to current!! 😄
Every sign in my immediate family is different. Gemini, Capricorn, Scorpio, Leo, & Taurus. 🙂
current…? 👀
😂
1. Currently have a roast in the crockpot with carrots, a can of beefy mushroom soup + packet of onion soup mix. I know, not the healthiest, but not the worst either. And basic, simple comfort food. I’m gonna do mashed potatoes & maybe another veg. or salad with it.
2. Got my dental cleaning today. Am in the clear until next time, lol. And came home to find my book of the month, The Ex Hex. And!! I ordered a cute little box from a shop with a sweatshirt, I ordered big so, extra cozy, that says “Today’s plans: Fall into a good book” with leaves and a book, a spooky themed tote bag, 2 fall bookmarks, and the cutest fall book sleeve. I put it all on and J said, “you look cute! What are you?” (He’s thinking costume) 😂🤣
3. I’m tired. Like, so very tired of being busy. I counted, and I drive back and forth to this and that no less than 12x a day, every day. Minus the weekend. But that doesn’t mean those are free either. *sigh*
I can’t wait until the brisk air comes to Florida so I can make nice homey-roasts again.
Summer, I just eat so light and “salad-y” but I miss my crock pot.
It’s not as chilly as I’d like here. Still upper 70s and reaching 80s a couple days this weekend. 🙁 Some days you can feel the fall chill creeping there, especially in the morning, but I just want to wear leggings and a sweatshirt and not be dying by 1pm. Lol. I did do a salad with it, one with dried cranberries, almonds, turkey, blue cheese, crunchy noodles & a balsamic dressing. Ugh, so perfect together. Very fall mood esque.
1. I finished Yes, Daddy over the weekend and now I need a super swoony pallet cleanser!
2. I’m winging shrimp fajitas for dinner. Jarred jalapenos instead of bell pepper with sautéed fresh tomatoes thrown in, homemade salsa out of stuff I had in the pantry, etc. Fingers crossed the sour cream I have in there is still good. I really need to go shopping!
3. I gave up trying to learn travel French on babble. I can’t understand a thing they say. And they want me to repeat it! It’s giving me anxiety! Instead I’m making a list of the phrases I think I’ll need and googling slower pronunciations. As long as I can order wine and find a bathroom, I think I’ll be ok.
10 years ago my husband and I spent 3 weeks in France, Italy and Greece. I picked those countries bc always wanted to visit and was extremely happy I chose two. Sorry you couldn’t pay me to spend a week in France again. Rude, unfriendly, waitresses had a cigarette hanging out of their mouth while they took our order and delivered our food. This was a restaurant in the Eiffel Tower complex. If I asked for an extra towel at our hotel it was delivered 3hours later after we were asleep. They made every attempt to make it known they didn’t like Americans.
Italy and Greece were a whole different story. Warm, smiling, happy, helpful people who went out of their way to make our trip very pleasant. After France Italy was like coming home. Wherever we walked you smelled bread baking, every meal wasn’t necessarily pasta but had some kind of pasta in it, and
Of course Italians push seconds on you. France you were given a dirty look if you asked for lemon for your water. If you say to your waitress that the meal was wonderful pretty soon the chef is visiting your table and taking you to the kitchen for a tour. Greece was much the same. I could have lived in either place. In fact there is an island in Greece that is mostly populated by ex-pats and I always was going to check into that.
When we went I think France was mad at USA abt something. I take back what I said. It’s been so long since I’ve been anywhere I would go again. Just be safe.
I haven’t been to Greece yet, but in our experience, it can be that way in several big cities across Europe, especially the major tourist destinations. Venice, for example, is one place I probably won’t return to for that reason. However, I have learned traveling with others (like the couple I was just in Mexico with, oy vey), and simply people-watching tourists abroad, that the locals have to deal with idiots day in and day out and it can make them bitter toward tourists in general. It sucks, but I get it.
Americans especially have a reputation for acting entitled and demanding. Many of us don’t try to learn the customs or basic phrases of the language and expect everything to be the same there as it is here. And probably worst of all, is our reputation for being loud and obnoxious (drunk). Unfortunately, all of this combined makes us “guilty” the second we step off the plane, and we’re treated accordingly. All we can do is try to reverse it. Will we be able to in Paris? Probably not, but it’s such an incredible place that it’s worth it to me to try.
I can’t speak for any other major cities in France, but I can vouch for Normandy as being very warm and hospitable to Americans. If you ever consider returning, I’d highly recommend it as a destination.
And I 100% agree with you on Italy. We spent a month there touring small towns and hamlets, and it was night and day compared to visiting the cities (we had a similar reception in Rome as we did in Paris). That’s what I typically recommend, no matter where you travel. Spend a few days exploring the major metropolitan areas, then immerse yourself in the rural heart of the country. I’d love to do that this time, but being in a pandemic, I don’t want to stray far from our embassy, major medical access, or English speakers.
Thanks for your comment. Whenever we travel abroad I always make a big effort to smile, be pleasant, etc. My thinking is that their living depends on tourists so maybe they should change their attitude somewhat. But never said anything like that. My mother would roll over in her grave bc I was taught not to be rude. I just ended up being extremely disappointed.
The Italian language is the only one that after a few days I was sort of understanding what they were saying. Of course couldn’t speak it but was helpful to understand what I did.
Have a wonderful trip. I want to hear all about it.
I hope I can travel to Europe one day. I’ve only been to a few places here in the US and a few places in Canada.
I want to go to Italy so bad. Actually, all of Europe.
