HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!! Today’s early bird list is bigger than usual, and pretty awesome if I do say so myself. LOTS of blurb jolts!! LIKE THAT ONE to the left. π
THREE THINGS:
1.) I discovered that I LOVE BASEBALL!! YAY RAYS!! And Saturday night’s game was amazing, and thrilling and exciting and so incredible, and I feel so lucky to have watched it. Who knew baseball was so fun????
2.) My beautiful metal bird crane/heron statues have arrived from my Amazon Prime Day spree, and I LOVE THEM! I’m still not 100% committed to where I put them, but maybe. π
3.) My Publix is now selling my most favorite cheese in the world (CURD CHEESE!!) It reminds me of home (a staple in Quebec, Canada – and eaten as a snack in all of it’s cheddar cheese squeaky goodness, and melted all over French Fries and gravy – Poutine!!) so I bought myself a bag and have been in cheese heaven all weekend. I love cheese. You guys know that, I know, but I feel the need to say it even louder now that I have my curd cheese!! π

Happy Monday!
1. New eyeglasses tomorrow! Theyβre still the same frames because I like them & get complimentsβ¦but they have not been sat upon – yet.
2. Still watching tv series, The Boysβ¦crazy crazyβ¦every scene a surprise – drama, romance, satire, gore a la Tarantino, laughs, suspense, sci-fiβ¦creators must be nuts. Loving it.
3. Hauled all the old clothes from closets (including husband π―). Made all those hard decisions. Now heading out to Salvation Army with three garbage bags full. Feng shui, baby.
Is The Boys is the one where… ummm she explodes his head with her thighs? By accident? During ummm… ?? You know.
ππ
WHAT?!? ππ€£ Omg Iβve not heard anything like this. Now I have to check this out.
πππ
Yup and so much more…
Iβve been hearing more about The Boys lately. I wonder if itβs the next show that gets the big audience, like Game of Thrones.
Thereβs no better feeling to me than tossing stuff out and organizing! Go You!!
Agreed! I LOVE organizing and keeping what I love most. Then you get to use it more often because it’s easy to find and right where you need it!
yea, I mentioned way back…blowing our minds
Thanks Tasha…there is SO much more I want to toss…I have to wait til my husband is out of the house…
I have an entire room full of bags and boxes to go to goodwill. And a stuffed SUV that quit running AFTER we stuffed it. I’m going to have to hire someone to haul it all off when I finish my “spring” cleaning.
Fall cleaning, yay! π€£
Definitely reading Kayley Loring’s A Very Bossy Christmas…just loving that author’s books!
I haven’t read her yet. I need to get on that!
Ruthless is so pretty, I actually want to read it based on the cover. π And, I typically donβt like covers like that.
1. I want to read fantasy or a bad boy/or really good bully romance thatβs complete. Something dark, I think. But, I made myself come back to Earth and actually dig into the arc I got bc I want to still receive them. Lol Plus, it did give me a total blurb jolt so I made myself commit and….
2. Iβm totally into it! Didnβt take any time at all either and as much as Iβm digging the vibes, I still want something on the back burner for when Iβm finished and I canβt pinpoint what book that should be. (Itβs CJ Tudorβs The Burning Girls)
3. I survived the intense week/weekend last week and still on recuperation mode even as the schedule starts filling and all my cleaning work goes to shhh.
Some dark/bully reads, you say? some options…
Captive by Lewis (kind of book you don’t come up for air…bit long-ish but worth it)
In Peace Lies Havoc (Midnight Mayhem #1) by Amo Jones (crazy/bully..”I can’t believe it”)
Play Along by Swan
The Banker by P. Sky (trilogy)
Omg thank you!!! Iβve not read any of these yet and while I looked at some last night on Amazon and reviews, I just got so overwhelmed. I like recommendations rather than trying to find a needle in a haystack.
I’m with you on that Ruthless cover. π Which is why I made it the top feature. Tee hee!!!
Is “The Burning Girls” up for preorder? I need to search for it and add it, if so.
It is! https://www.amazon.com/Burning-Girls-C-J-Tudor-ebook/dp/B087PMPD5S/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=the+burning+girls&qid=1603737945&sr=8-3
I read The Other People by her earlier this year and I just could not put it down. It will go on my best of list this year. And I also liked The Chalk Man, though I liked TOP more. She sure knows how to spin a story. This is unique for me as Iβm in the head of a vicar- and I dk that Iβve ever read an mc that way. As a single parent no less. And it feels like the perfect time of year for me to have picked it up. Burning girls, creepy chapel, graveyards, exorcism? I mean…. Iβll keep you in the loop!
Tasha, I’ve been looking at The Burning Girls – can’t wait to hear your thoughts. I LOVED The Other People which I read after you recommended it!!
Happy Monday!
1. I butter poached lobster that I got from Butcher Box last night and it was sooooo good! I went on today to get more but they don’t have any! I did snag a free range turkey though.
2. I’m still obsessed with my new air fryer that some awesome friends gave me. We’ve used it for so many things so far like wings and bacon and french fries, so this week it will be all veggies all the time to make up for the badness.
3. We’ve been tossing around the idea of going to Isla Mujeres when it’s deemed safe(r) to travel but it looks like they’re getting slammed with a hurricane today! If my husband had his way, we’d be there right now so I’m pretty happy I pushed him off!
Mmmm buttered lobster sounds absolutely delish!!
It was so good. It was an 8 oz pack of lobster pieces for $14. Not a lot but enough for 2 people. I can’t get it at my store but if you can, do it! Butter poaching is foolproof!
I was thinking about getting a free range turkey from them too. And those sausages!! YUMMMMM!
Make sure to unplug the air fryer. Jasinda Wilder just had a fire (serious close call but it did destroy some of her appliances) and it seems it might have been the air fryer that did it.
So then I google air fryer fires, and YES! This seems to be an issue. So now I leave mine unplugged.
That just put my “unplug everything OCD” through the roof now… I used to only be worried about stoves, and curling irons… π
Ahh thanks! I would never have thought of that.
I had the larger turkey in my cart but today they offered a smaller one so I traded it out. I hope it’s not too small. It’s just the 2 of us but I need lots of leftovers!
Yes me too. Even if I make Thanksgiving for 2 people, I have enough to freeze a month’s worth AFTER giving away leftover. LOL!!! I AM A THANKSGIVING SUPPER ADDICT.
Oh shoot!! Thanks for the tip Maryse…we always leave our air fryer plugged up!
1. Woke up to about 2.5 inches of snow this morning. I toyed with the idea of just turning over in bed and not going into the office because that is an option, but then I had to get up to use the bathroom and I decided to start my day in spite of it all.
2. I will NEVER live in a place that does not have a fireplace ever again. Duraflame logs are pure magical sorcery and you CAN build a fire that gets too hot. I didn’t think it was possible. I was wrong.
3. I have been trying to knock out netgalley ARCs because I have so very many of them. However, I find when I have to read something instead of when I choose to read it, it’s hard (whine, moan, waaah-waaah noises). However, I can’t stop myself from signing up for more of them. When will I ever learn?
Snow!! Iβm not quite ready for snow yet though ya never know what the weather will bring. I put away a ton of laundry this weekend, sweatshirts, sweaters, long socks and a few pairs of shorts. Finicky weather. My winter coat has been in and out.
Still in the 80s here. I want brisk and fresh… though I do love Florida weather, but I miss that cool air and the smell of leaves.
LOL!! I am right there with you Lisa. I rarely request them now.
Mind you, I DO accept ARCS, of course (in fact, I read a psych-thriller last year that rocked my world, that was an R. Renee recommendation – and the author sent it to me and that blurb got me, so that was an EASY awesome read), but to keep my reading per my mood, I never promise to read or review (because I don’t want it to be homework, ya know)?
I love reading. And the reason I love it is ’cause I’m excited about what I’m reading and dying to pick it back up.
I want snow! *stomps feet*
Come to Canada…we have snow now – first day π
If you get snow, I’m gonna really know the apocalyse is coming…lol.
Lisa, I’m the same with the NG ARC’s….it’s ridiculous…it’s really like a freaking addiction or something. I’ve been a little better about what I choose recently but there are so many backlogged that I still need to work through…it’s a bit overwhelming!
Happy Monday!!! So it’s been a LOOOOOOONNNNGGGG time since I’ve posted on here, but I’ve been following this blog pretty faithfully for several years now. I’ve had a few bumps in the road of life, so I’ve been pretty quiet and on the downlow for a while. I hope Maryse still remembers me! Here’s three things:
1. A lot has happened since my last time on the blog. I got divorced (I’m happy about it!) and in a new relationship, plus started a new (and promising) job.
2. Two of my kids have moved out and gone off to college. One at Northwestern and the other at Ball State University (Indiana). My youngest is a senior in high school now and preparing to take that journey soon. Not sure my heart can take anymore. Time goes by way too fast π
3. Aside from the kids moving out, I’m the happiest I think I’ve ever been in my life! It’s been a tough road, but it’s those twist and turns that make us stronger. π
So I’m still and will always be an avid reader. It’s gotten me through some tough times in the last few years. Nothing soothes the soul like diving into another world for a while! I saw Roya Carmen’s new book is about WESTON!!! UGH!! The Ground Rules series just about did me in way back when! It still evokes some pretty raw emotions out of me! I was rooting for Weston! The ending of that series broke my heart for WEEKS! One of my top reading wishes was for Ms. Carmen to resurrect that series with those two finding each other again. I’m sooooo sad that she’s chosen a different route for Weston, but I’m curious as to why his marriage broke up. Not sure when I’ll be ready to read it.
I hope all of you are well! And hello to those I haven’t met yet!
I totally let Chrome autofill and left my last name in my post. I forgot to delete it out. Oops! I’m posting from work and was trying to get it on here as quick as possible. :-/
I’ll fix it!!!
Thank you!!!
P.S. I’m so glad you’re back and I’m SO GLAD you’re happy. Sometimes we travers through hard times, and insecure moments, but it always seems to work out (and for the best) doesn’t it?
It does! I feel that we always get to where we’re supposed to be in the end. My struggles are where I found my strength. I’m so happy to be back with you guys!
Hi Cristina! Welcome back!
Thank you! It feels good to be back!
Cristina, welcome back to you!!
Thank you!!
1. Have recently figured out the instant pot is as amazing as I heard. In the past week, I’ve made an awesome white chicken chili and an equally yummy mac & cheese. My family gave both items a huge vote of approval!! So, of course, I’m now in the rabbit hole of instant pot recipes…losing time and not reading when I should be :-O
2. Apparently we just barely missed getting snow today and ended up with rain. I love snow and all…but it’s a bit early for me. Let’s at least get to November!
3. I have to agree that the Ruthless cover is quite pretty and the story sounds good too! π Also, how have I missed reading Kylie Scott’s zombie series?? I definitely have to squeeze those in. And I’m also intrigued by Hawnt & Don’t Say Never!! Great list Maryse!!
