TUESDAY MORNING 7:55am UPDATE!!! Yep… I’m late again!! I’m working on today’s Tuesday New Releases as we speak. I’ll be posting it as soon as it’s got some bulk to it. 😉 Ahhhh the luxury and slower pace of having the week off and taking my time. Boy is it fun!! 😏
HAPPY MONDAY EARLY BIRDS DAY!!!! I’m late… I know it. 😉 I’ve been gone all weekend, and just got back and am getting back into my book groove, so I’m still working on this list, but here it is so far!! 😀
THREE THINGS:
1.) I just spent the weekend in Key Largo (long drive but so worth it). Then on Saturday, a 2 hour road trip to spend the day in Key West. What amazing history that place has! I roamed Duval street, saw Ernest Hemmingway’s house, hung out with the wild chickens that roam every part of the streets (and entire town for that matter), took photos of the gorgeous homes, and stood at the southern most furthest edge of the United States (that in itself is so remarkable to me) and learned all about “The Conch Republic”. 😉 SO FREAKING CHARMING!!! A quaint and cozy town with so much color and life. I AM IN LOVE with the Keys.
2.) The resort I stayed at in Key Largo (Bayside Inn) was it’s own perfect paradise. On the water, with a man-made beach, humongous palm trees EVERYWHERE, amazing food and tropical drinks all around us, including at the resort itself, kayaks, adorable bicycles… just so much peace and happiness in one place. I could have never left the resort and totally been happy – and in vacation mode – there too. Plus… the food was incredible. Where we ate the most —> Key Largo Fisheries (delicious and was the main reason for the initial road trip to the Keys!!) and for breakfast, Doc’s Diner rocked my world (I had “Flagler’s Train Wreck” and it was the best breakfast I’ve ever had!!)
3.) I got a t-shirt as a souvenir while there and I LOVE it. I will NEVER get rid of it. Best weekend ever. And now I’m a bit melancholy ’cause it was so much fun and I miss it, but I’m happy to be home with my puppies.

Wow! Sounds like you had a fun weekend! I’m definitely jealous. I hope you had a piece of key lime pie for me 😋 Now that you’ve been to the southern most point in the continental US you need to visit the Big Island of Hawaii so you can visit the southern most point in the entire US: Ka Lae!
I sure did!! On Duval Street in Key West, and when I opened that clear plastic crackly-sounding container to get to my slice, a HUGE rooster came-a-runnin’!!!!
He flaunted how pretty he was, flicked his tail, and danced, and tried to hypnotize me with his eyes, so I would give him some. I have a feeling that rooster gets fed key lime pie a lot… ’cause HE KNEW the minute he heard that container.
But I just couldn’t do it. It just doesn’t sound healthy for a rooster. 😂
Your weekend sounds like a dream, Maryse!! We went to the Keys once, 7 years ago now? Only for a day. It wasn’t enough time to explore anything really and it was impromptu so I had no idea what we could do there. Not much it seemed to do with a child. Besides the beach, of course. The resort we stayed in was beautiful as well. It was The Inn at Key West. We missed the chickens. 🙁 I would go back, someday when all the kids are older.
1. Packing and getting things in order today. I hate this part. I’ve made my list!! Now, doing laundry and getting some things together. We leave in just 2 days and tomorrow will be more getting the vehicle ready and cooking!
2. Parent teacher conferences and after school practices in the evenings so I’m stressing a little extra on the timing of things.
3. I bought a book on sale the other day, no idea if it still is. It was Faking Under the Mistletoe. Sounded fun and perfect for the season. Not a whole lot is grabbing me lately and I think it’s because of the busyness right now.
Oh! Extra- I shopped all weekend. Went to Hobby Lobby for Bob’s decorations (the gecko). And everything Xmas was 50% off. Fall was 80%off and wall decor also 50% off. Omg, was it insane in there. So overwhelming with the crowd and the amount I had to look at. 😂 And I had to stop at Ulta for my makeup updating. Found some extras as well. But, of course! 😉 I ended up having to buy a foundation bc they aren’t doing samples. So, I went with another line of same brand. Clinique super balanced. It didn’t irritate my face yesterday so I hope it works out. I used it as a teen (always refer to this time cuz that’s when I used make up regularly, lol) but my skin is different now. Holy cow is it ever dry this year. I had to mix with my moisturizer yesterday. Good trick! And grabbed their quick liner cuz I miss that stuff. Regular pencils just aren’t the same. I grabbed their brand of blush cuz they told me it was super sheer, and it was and I’m happy with it. And a maybelline blush in buff that looks like it does nothing (hubs favorite 🙄). Another Smashbox photo edit palate bc I like that there isn’t too many colors and they’re neutral. And got 1 shade darker in the Anastasia brow wiz cuz my hair is a little darker. Actually, I got their newer pencil that’s shaped different and I’m not sure if I ❤️ it or not. My brows look good, but I need to practice more. And, ya know, what I went there for, some mascara. Lol. Actually went with Lancôme bc it’s what I walked up to first and my Mom uses that brand for sensitivity so I figured it’d be ok. I got Definicils in the travel size bc it’s easier for me to do them that way AND price! And, I love it. They weren’t clumpy or extra, looked super natural and absolutely no smudge underneath after 5.5 hours of wear.
LOL!!! I love that you are decorating Bob’s abode!!!!!
Oh and for eyeliners, I am loving the colors for just a light, blended line under my lash line on my bottom lid.
I haven’t used colors since I was a teen, but since my whole makeup routine is very neutral, I get a kick out of a touch of green or blue or deep purple under my lash line.
Have an amazing trip my friend!!!!!
I do that with the middle shade of my neutrals underneath. I’m not brave enough to go bolder, but I do love the way it looks!
And, I’m gonna take a picture of Bob’s cage when it’s done. I can show you on a pin for pintrest. It’s gonna be 🔥 😂. I actually got stuff for 2 different “lewks”. Could go rustic or whimsical. Decisions, decisions. Might not be with his hide yet, bc it shipped from Latvia. Hopefully by the first week of December.
I can’t wait to see!!!! Maybe I can do something festive for Birdie…
Safe travels, Tasha!!
1. Your weekend sounds fantastic! I’ve never been to the Keys but the island I wrote about in my duet was based on an actual air bnb off Marathon. It was on my bucket list to go but I can’t find it anymore. It was for sale so maybe the new owner is hogging it! 😑
2. I was going to air fry a steak for dinner last night but ended up eating at the neighbor’s so now I’m thinking of having steak for breakfast.
3. I’m about 25% into Decompose and I’m totally hooked! I agree. It’s fun being in Jeanette’s head!
We drove through Marathon on our way there. It was one of the places that was devastated (I think) after one of the huge storms, but gorgeous right now. 🙂
Maybe next time, we’ll drive through there and eat before continuing on our way.
Maybe that’s what happened. It was a tiny island with a small bungalow. It could have been hit by weather.
OH and nothing better than steak and eggs in the morning for breakfast!!!! YUMMMMM!!
Unless you chicken fry said steak and eat it with biscuits and gravy! But I’m not that motivated.
OMG. 😳 😱 *thud*
YESSSSSSSS!!
Yay!!! So glad you’re enjoying Decompose!
1. Family is pulling together their Christmas lists to share with one another. Mine’s cost-free. Items range from organizing a boozy Xmas family board game, a playlist of everybody’s top 3 songs, and a family holiday vegetarian meal. 🤞
2. I want to go to Key West. 🌴
3. Snow is pretty here and may be sticking around. ☃️
I LOVE your Christmas list and now I want to know about this boozy board game!!!!!! 😀 DO TELL!!
We usually play euchre & have beer, wine or White Russians a la Big Lebowski.
Not a board game per se – it’s Dictionary, a retro game from our past. Just need dictionary, paper & pens.
The player opens a page, finds an unusual word and gives 3 possible definitions (incl right one). Players who guess correct definition get a point. We do a few rounds.
But really…it’s all about laughing…
I LOVE IT!!!!
Not sure if you caught this…saw that these books are being released Dec. 1 📚- not sure if they’re ready for pre-order…

I did, and am in stalk mode. Thank you Mony!!! 😀
It is so weird to be in a State that is in freeze mode and read about open restaurants and travel. Can travel here but Washington, Oregon, and California are asking for everyone to do a two week quarantine when you cross the borders going in and then coming back.
Restaurants are take out only again. Which I found out by going into one before the freeze that I was not ready yet. I was so tense the whole time, lol.
I’m getting the urge to read, though it hasn’t resulted in reading yet. 🤦♀️
But im thinking about books and stories like I havent in a long time.
I know everyone may be tired of hearing it, but as the holidays come and people are moving around more please be safe.
I was in an area that wasn’t that didnt have many cases and now it seems to be everywhere.
Definitely different between states, but on my vacation, everyone was always masked where we were (staff and visitors alike), at the resort, all the restaurants and Key West. Sanitizer everywhere, signs everywhere to remind that masks are mandatory.
It was nice, as everyone was abiding by it no issues at all, but still able to be out in the sun, and enjoy life.
Oh and since I already live in Florida, no border crossing, but still… everyone in sync. ❤️
Oh Maryse!!! I’m so envious…you not only went to the beach…you went to Key Largo!!! I’m so glad you had a wonderful time.
1. I got my Christmas decor (most of it) up this weekend. That’s a good feeling!
2. I made pumpkin cream cheese muffins last night…so good!
3. I’m really having to push myself to read lately. My brain is in so many other places. It’s not that I don’t have a pile of wonderful books to read…I think it’s just where I’m at right now. I didn’t read one word all weekend….that’s soooo not like me!
I didn’t read a word either, and was sure being on the beach would mean reading time. But we were out and about discovering the Keys…
But I’m off of work this week, so reading it is!!!! 😀
Also… I’m jealous of your pumpkin muffins!!!!!! I WOULD LOVE ONE right now. 😉
Your weekend sounds fab Maryse. Glad you enjoyed. I’d like to try key lime pie.
1. Hubs and I are “going bush” for a few days soon – going to stay in a cabin in a more remote part of our state. It’s a very pretty area and we can’t wait to go. Melbourne lockdown is over and our state has been clear for more than three weeks now so we’re all starting to come out of our shell. Borders are opening (to interstate). Eek. I’m a bit nervous about that but just hope everyone will act responsibly.
* A funny bit of trivia. Every day in our state (Victoria) when they announce again zero deaths and zero new cases for today they say “double donuts again today” to represent the two zeroes. My son has been texting me two donut emojis each day when they make the announcement. BTW we had double donuts again this morning. Yay!
2. I spotted that Nia Forrester is putting ALL of her books on kindle unlimited till next year. Great chance for KU members to catch up on her backlist. I LOVED her Commitment series and also liked her earlier books about the baseballers, the Acosta books.
3. I’m currently reading a different (for me) kind of historical romance. The Falcons of Montabard by Elizabeth Chadwick. It’s set in medieval times and during the Crusades. I don’t know much about the Crusades, and so far it’s really interesting. Excellent writing. A slowly building romance. I’m loving the author’s descriptions and sense of place. Characters are good too.
I’ve been reading one of Forrester’s Commitment books & it’s very good and down to earth. You had mentioned it earlier & I’m glad you did.
I’ll be checking out the Falcons of Montabard…always looking for different kind of HR books!
As always, thank you!
I’m adding this one to today’s list!! 😀 Thank you Jan!
I went on a cruise to the Bahamas a few years back and one of the stops was key west. I went with a larg3 group and every single person said key west was their favorite port. I remember hav8ng key lime ice cream and boy was it magnificent.
I just LOVED it. I’m still thinking about what a special place that is. I didn’t have the ice cream (I went traditional slice of pie) but I bet it was perfection!
TUESDAY MORNING 7:55am UPDATE!!! Yep… I’m late again!!
I’m working on today’s Tuesday New Releases as we speak. I’ll be posting it as soon as it’s got some bulk to it. 😉
Ahhhh the luxury and slower pace of having the week off and taking my time. Boy is it fun!! 😏
Ahhh your weekend sounds amazing!! I’m jealous we are still in covid lockdown here in Ireland and can’t travel over 5km from our home going into our 6th week now and slowing going mad! Reading tonnes however
