Good morning! I haven’t been doing much reading as I dont want to get sucked into a book and blow off holiday prep. In case I dont have time to check back in, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!! 🎅
I’m snapping up The Wives as soon as it is available!!
Good morning. I need coffee. I actually stayed up too late reading.
It shocked me too.
Today, though, feels like a drama and podcast day.
Finished Devestated by RL Mathewson. It was ok, but not what I was expecting. I think I thought it would be deeper, slower, darker, and maybe more slice of life. But still I read it in two days and then onto Heartsong where I’m already over 60%.
Not doing a favorites list this year so sharing a favorite scene from a favorite drama this year.
Tale of Nokdu is wonderful. The hero Nokdu (break out performance by Jang Dong-yoon) has been living in hiding with his family when assassins come to kill them. He fights them off but follows them to a widow village were only women can enter…so of course he disguises himself as a woman. There he meets our heroine played by Kim So-hyun who is actually in training to be a gisaeng, but is not very good at it. It’s ok because she has no plans to really be one as she is instead focusing on practicing archery to kill the king.
This is were he tries to teach her the gisaeng fan dance still halfway in his widow costume. It made many of us SWOON. He calls her daughter because at one point he adopts her at one point, lol.

Finished book 3 of Lea Griffith’s No Mercy series so I am ready for book 4, Kiss Of The Blade to come out. Which should be anytime now. Gosh, I love these books. I’ve reread them tons of times and they never get old.
I’m up to episode 4 of The Witcher and lets just say Henry Cavill is to die for with His deep voice, sexy, although kinda dirty, silver hair ( he gets a pass on that because he’s outside wielding that big sword of his a lot! 😉), and lets not forget those tight leathers he dons. Swooooon! Oh, and all his shirtless scenes, the musculature let me tell you is a sight to behold. Besides Henry, the show is pretty good. My crack words were said a few times, which are “your destiny”. Those words do it for me all the time. I’m watching the rest today while I finish crocheting a blanket for Christmas.
Also, I want to say RIP Johanna Lindsey. A legend in the romance genre, she was the writer who started my passion for reading. I’ve read mostly all her books especially the older ones. A Pirates Love and The Gift are among my favorites.
A couple of things, For those of you who have KU, Leylah Attar’s (Mists of Serengeti and Paper Swan) are now on KU.
Also, Deborah Harkness’ All Souls Trilogy is on sale for $1.99 for all 3 books. I haven’t read it but thought I would give it a try at that price.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah. Off to see the new Star Wars movie this afternoon. So excited!!
1. My kids are leaving me in a few hours. Only 2. J won’t take a nap and we just got done running last minute errands and now I have to clean this house. With a grumpy, screaming toddler. 😭
2. The last time I did a big clean was October. I knew this was coming, but that took me a day per room, I don’t have that kind of time this time and it’s so messy! Not as bad clutter wise, but I just don’t have the energy (mentally either) for this.
3. I think I’m in a big book funk. No genre is satisfying, no book will sufficiently suck me in and lose me. And I miss it. And I want it, right now, instead of cleaning. 🤣
4. I can’t make a top book list until I sit at the computer and figure out if I can see what all I’ve read on kindle unlimited, bc I didn’t mark them all and I know there were some really good ones. I could probably also lose myself doing that instead of cleaning. I believe I’m procrastinating. *sigh*
I just found out how to find all of our Kindle Unlimited books (even the ones we’ve returned). I think it’s Leslie M that told us.
1.) Go to: amazon.com and upper right hand area where it says Orders… right before it, says accounts & lists. Click it.
2.) Then click on Kindle Unlimited (it’s to the right… middle area)
3.) and there they all are. What you’ve read, not read, returned… all of ’em. So if you returned one that you wanted to read but weren’t going to get to, you can go through this list and re-borrow it.
YAY!!!!
Now… make our best of list. 😉 LOL!!! You’re my book twin. I can’t wait to see it.
Actually, I’m in the mood for something to really sink my teeth into. With the same vibe as the Vampire Diaries. The show, cuz I haven’t read the books.
Maryse!!! I just watched The Possession of Michael King on your recommendation and now I’m all kinds of freaked out! I have all the lights on and I’m on my 3rd Diet Coke. Now wayyyy am I sleeping tonight! 😱😱😱
Oh, no.
You dont even watch tv, what were you doing?
Put something fluffy on. Like Golden Girls or Friends.
I know! It was a freak accident, clearly! I don’t know what I was thinking!
One of the scariest movies ever!!!! THAT one is done right. Gets under your skin big time. HOLY MOLY. Definitely a sleep-with-the-lights-on. Just remembering it makes me wanna sleep with lights on right now.
By the way, I just came back from a late viewing of the latest Star Wars movie. It was great and what an epic love story. Evil villain desperate to have her for his cold black heart.
OMG SO GOOD!
I cant wait to see Star Wars! Typically we go opening weekend and I have been avoiding spoilers like the plague.
If I’ve never seen any Star Wars, can I watch something new like this and not be lost? The kids and I are curious, just bc they like all the merchandise, but don’t really have a clue about any of it.
I was fine, Tasha… I barely remember the first three (as I never paid attention when they were on… other than what I know as fact – who the characters are and the bad guy. That’s about it.)
Also I watched the very first one in the new series (with the jar jar binks guy) and that pretty much showed us Darth Vader as a child and all I remember from that movie is him racing those space thingies and loving it (so we get to know him as a nice person and his family).
Then I watched maybe half an hour – the ending – of one a couple of nights ago, when Luke & Leia’s mom (Princess Amidala) was pregnant with them… and I saw how Darth Vader became Darth Vader in that half hour.
That’s it. That’s all I’ve ever seen.
Then I watched last night’s and it’s essentially the offspring of some of the major players from the first movie. It didn’t take long for me to clue in to who came from who, and it was INCREDIBLE. The good guys and the bad guys. I asked my boyfriend early on really quickly to clarify a few things so I would get the jist from the start, and I was good to go.
It is simply amazing.
Also what’s so good about them (my favorite parts) is the epic love stories that happen amongst the whole fighting between the Dark Side and the Jedi (they are the good guys – all powerful like monks but ninjas – in touch with “The Force” that makes them do all sorts of cool powerful stuff).
I don’t remember much of a love story from the first 3 ’cause I was a kid and didn’t have an interest in any of it.
But the love stories (at least from the one I saw when Princess Amidala was pregnant and the latest one) have that whole star-crossed lovers feel. Oooooof!! You’ll see.
I didn’t have nightmares exactly, but I woke up several times and every time I thought I saw something, including someone sitting on my bed! I woke up swatting at it! Man! I’m not as tough as I used to be!
