Nanette asked for help on this one, and I *THINK* KNOW IT!!! There’ve been a few in the last year that have had this theme, but since I just spoke of this one in the last couple of weeks, coinciding with this reader question, I’m thinking it’s THIS particular one.
I haven’t read it (yet) ’cause it’s on pre-order, but this was one that I want to read badly.
She asks:
Hey Maryse,I read a blurb about a book on your website recently and can’t remember the title right now. All I do remember is that it’s about the heroine whose best friend married her ‘crush’ and the best friend dies giving birth to her child, I think? She then jumps in to help with raising the baby….Plse tell me the name of this book and Author?
Thanks a lot,
Nanette
Nanette!!! I think I found it. Is it Unbreak My Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn <— Releasing in just a couple of weeks!!! This blurb PROMISES ROMANCE ANGST and hurt!!
THIS BLURB, my friends!!!! It’s gonna HURT!
“What do you do when your soul mate marries your best friend?
If you’re Kate Evans, you keep your friend Rachel, bond with her kids, and bury your feelings for her husband. The fact that Shane’s in the military and away for long periods helps-but when tragedy strikes, everything changes.
After Rachel, pregnant with her fourth child, dies in a car accident and the baby miraculously survives, Kate upends her entire life to share parenting duties. Then on the first anniversary of Rachel’s death, Kate and Shane take comfort in each other in a night that they both soon regret…”
Also similar (and was the subject of a reader question back in March) was THIS book: The Absence of Olivia
Anyone else care to venture a guess, or suggest another book with this theme?
Bre: It sounds a lot like F*ck Love by Tarryn Fisher
JenC: It sounds a lot like The Absence of Olivia by Anie Michaels (just didn’t die giving birth).
Lee: Hi Maryse, I don’t think it’s The Absence of Olivia, I read that book when it came out, and the bestfriend dies of cancer. Good luck 🙂
Nanette: Definitely Unbreak My Heart, Maryse! You totally rock! Thanks, Nanette
Maryse: YAY!!!!! Another one solved. 😀 Plus this book sounds SOOOOOO GOOD!!!!

I don’t think this is the right one, but Sarah’s Child by Linda Howard has a similar theme. It’s an older book, but I still enjoyed it, and the H is kind of an a** throughout. Some women take issue with how the H/h acted, but (and I’m dating myself here lol) it does reflect more of the attitudes for the time period (80s). I believe I gave it 4 stars.
