Reader Question – The book about the homeless man that comes into the hospital and she recognizes him…

Jackie needs our help! Sounds like a full-on angsty second chance romance BUT!! Be careful reading this question, as there are some spoilers (I will include mini warnings). 😉

I’m desperately searching for the name of a book I stumbled across through your Facebook page …it was really really good sadly I can’t remember the name !

The main character worked in a hospital er and a homeless man comes in beaten and unresponsive , she soon realizes it’s her first love from when she was younger.

She was homeless in her teen years and she met him then – they were both runaways and he took care of her and they fell in love ….there was some gang related stuff as well I believe, anyway there were going to get on their feet together and move in a place

but he didn’t show when they were supposed to meet to run.

Buuuuut he doesn’t show and she learns as an adult it’s bc he didn’t want to hold her back so the bulk of the book is told in the past and then the other is told in the present as they fall in love all over again !
