Here’s one!! She’s a cop, and his (her old high school boyfriend’s) best friend is out to hurt her in retaliation (’cause she hurt him). But alas, I do not know the book. Maybe you do?

I read some reviews of a book on Amazon I think and I can’t remember the title. What I know about it: a girl comes back to her hometown to help her boyfriend from high school and his name is Steve ? But she and Steve’s best friend were kind of in love… she left after high school, breaking Steve’s heart in the process and when she comes back, the best friend wants to hurt her because apparently she’s the main cause to Steve’s problems. She is a cop or something. She has a massive secret (that’s why she left in the first place). The best friend still has feelings for her and she does too. I don’t think it’s a love triangle though.
I don’t know if there really is a Steve in the story… maybe I dreamed about the book or mixed it up with another urgh ! I read “Long Way Home” by Ann Vaughn and I thought it was the one, but the story is different and even if there is a Steve, we see him like 30 seconds in all the book.
