Reader Question – The book where she who would often sleep in bed with her next door neighbour in a platonic way…

Georgina needs our book help! OMG this is one of my book-trope catnips! In fact, I fell hard for Travis in “Beautiful Disaster” because of all the platonic sweetness and night cuddling between friends.

I’ve read a few like this (the one I’m thinking of, I think the girl was abused or scared at night), so I feel like I’ve read this one, but maybe not? And if not… well… I want to!!

She asks:

I thought about a book I read years ago (around 2005?) and it’s driving me insane I can’t think of the name.

Premise is a girl who would often sleep in bed with her next door neighbour in a platonic way, eventually as she gets older he stops letting her sleep in his bed and eventually leaves town to go to college without saying goodbye.

He comes back years later when they’re both successful (he’s a golf pro? she works on local tv? – could be confusing books). Set somewhere in the US.

Anyway was about to give up the search so figured i’d see if you had any ideas.
