Reader Question – The book where the artists lose their baby, and his eventual religious sculpture resemble her and their baby…

Oyin needs our book help! This one sounds angsty and I can’t figure out if they separated after the loss, or if they stayed together.

Hi,

I read a book some years back. I can’t remember the name of the author or that of the book.

Both of them are artists, he is a sculptor. They had a whirlwind relationship, got pregnant but she unfortunately lost the baby.

He was commissioned to make a sculpture of Mary, the mother of Jesus but he made her features similar to that of the female lead and the baby “Jesus” had the features of the both of them.
