Reader Question… Solved! The book where the waitress is taking care of her friend with special needs & pickpockets to make ends meet…

Haleemath needs our book help, and this question comes from my Facebook crew!!! I love this question. Plenty of detail, and I DO remember reading a book about a pickpocketer, but I can’t quite remember.

She asks:

Hi!

I’m looking for a book. Have been at this for months and no luck. Would love to hear back if you figure this out

I read this book sometime back where the FMC is much younger than the MMC.

She was working as a waitress at a restaurant and was picking pocket on the side to make ends meet. She was taking care of a friend who had special needs (was confined to a wheel chair, I think). She goes pickpocketing one night like usual, meets the MC and something happens between them and she decides not to rob him (or he catches her, I’m not sure).

They can’t make rent and while they’re moving out, MMC mother sees them and offers her a job working at her daughter in law’s restaurant.

Details are a bit blurry, but I’m pretty sure the MMC goes back for the holidays with his son, maybe moves back, not sure, and finds out that the FMC is already very close of the family. She lives in the apartment over the restaurant which is owned by the SIL (this i’m surely about). I think she was wearing a wig when they first met and he doesn’t recognize her at first.

He doesn’t trust her and thinks she’s taking advantage of his family

She’s pregnant (from the one night stand with the MMC)
