Kari is asking about a book that certainly sounds like it could turn into a sticky step-sibling situation. I bet we can fill this one up with suggestions that match her book-inquiry. 😉
She asks:
Ok I have to ask. I’m pretty sure I fairly recently read a book that had a pretty unique storyline, but cannot for the life of me remember what it is all! It’s been bugging me!! Unless I totally made this up
it’s about a younger boy and girl, HS age, who meet and basically fall in love at first sight. They both have single parents and one day find out that their parents got married to each other. So once she and her mom move in with him and his dad they still date/see each other.
Have you ever heard of this? Have any idea which book it might be?? Thanks in advance!
This is another that I can immediately say I’ve recently read the blurb for, but since step-sibling forbidden love books are all the rage right now, I know there are likely multiples of this genre, so let’s list ’em, and see if Kari recognizes the one she’s looking for. 😀
Tara: Ugly Love: A Novel by Colleen Hoover has a similar premise.
Bheng: Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
Amy: Ugly Love… *sob-choke*
Sheryl: A Little Too Far for the reader question
Maryse: *hug* Sheryl! I’m so glad you’re here with us, and THANK you for suggesting that book as the answer. I LOVED that one, and it definitely fits here!
Melanie: I may have just read this too, and damn if you didn’t make my mind go blank lol. I’m thinking of a book where the boy was new at school and his dad was a policeman and a widow. The boy and girl fell in love not knowing their parents were dating, of course the parents didn’t realize their children were dating eachother either. The parents decide to marry and move in together causing, of course, a forbidden step-sibling relationship. Now it’s driving me crazy that I can’t think of the name either!!!
Melanie: If it helps at all, the boy may have been named Shane? Possibly, unfortunately my “mom brain” isn’t letting me remember!
Nettie: Was the boy Slade maybe? and had a brother Brody and Ridley?
Melanie: I don’t believe so. Those names don’t sound familiar but thank you. Anything’s possible, It’s been 4 years since I read it.

I know Melanie and Fabi. I’ve either read this one, or read the blurb (and recently!). I can’t wait until we figure it out.
