Dallas needs our book help! This one sounds a bit like past reader questions in this trope, however due to the subject matter, it could be just that this is a frequent issue/twist in this genre…
She asks:
Hi Maryse,
I am trying to find a book (possibly a series) where there is a girl who falls in love with a guy whom she trusts.
I remember they met when she was a pre-teen or maybe even younger in a park. She always used to meet him in a park to start with. I think she grew up to do something in Arts or Marketing.
The guy turns out to be a part of the mafia (I think) or maybe part of a biker MC and he possibly has a brother(s) or sister. Enemies of the guy break into the girl’s house and try to hurt her.
Another thing I remember is that she is quite independent. Possibly there is a father in this series that is extremely rich (I think) and he tries to control all of the siblings.
I might be getting my series’ mixed up too.
Another thing I remember is that yes he’s quite older than her, maybe 10 years or so and at first he tries to hide what he does from her.

Maryse: One comes to mind, and it is a series, but I can’t remember exactly which one or by who. I know they meet as kids – and he’s in the bad-guy group and he’s older than her and she’s crushing on him and he’s kind of a bully (and I could swear they were the kids in the Irish mafia family). She’s a really good thief/con artist even though she’s so young, and they become friends (and do bad-guy things together). Lots of danger and it kept me on the edge of my seat. And there was a controlling father that was the head of the group… or was it an uncle? Very seedy. Anyway… I don’t think this is the one, but now sheesh, I just created my own reader question. LOL!!!!

Dallas: No it’s not the Undeniable series. Although I’ve read this one and it’s quite good too. Another thing I remember is that yes he’s quite older than her, maybe 10 years or so and at first he tries to hide what he does from her.

Ashley: My first thought was LOCK by Deborah Anastasia but I don’t think that’s it. But it seems familiar though. Forget Me Not (The Last Kiss Book 1) by Willow Winters? If it’s what I’m thinking of there’s a novella prequel from when they are young.
