Reader Question… Solved! The historical romance book about the heroine that ran away, was sick, and a stranger takes care of her in his cabin.

Emily is looking for this one! And ohhhhhh boy, once I read the main spoiler I GASPED!!!! So proceed carefully – but no worries, I spoiler alerted before the big reveals (and now I’m dying to know it, too).

She asks:

I read a historical romance book many years back and cannot for the life of me remember the name (it’s driving me crazy!). However, I do remember the story line.

Heroine runs away at the beginning because she is afraid of her brother in law. She gets sick in a cabin and H (a stranger) takes care of her.

She goes to live with a relative (aunt?) and sees H as she goes through her season. However, it’s found out that she spent the night with H at the cabin, so her aunt kicks her out and she’s staying on her own at a hotel.

H comes visit her where she gives a plan/proposal for marriage.

Heroine goes to visit one day when they are together, yells at him, then runs away. She goes back home to visit her sick grandfather and then goes to H’s second house. H runs after (first to her home, then to his second house).

They make up and H’s friend gives him a gift of two baby racing cats.

A lot of information, I know, but google has failed me! I think the paper back book had a red cover and the heroine (maybe) had a name that starts with an S?

Any guesses would be welcome!!

Maryse: Okay!! I googled racing cats, and I found an entire conversation in this historical romance book about them!! So maybe this is the book —> The Prince of Ravenscar: Bride Series (Sherbrooke Book 11) by Catherine Coulter. P.S. Here’s an article online about the history of “racing cats”. 😉 And in the comments, someone mentions the Catherine Coulter series having racing cats in it and she always wondered if that was “a thing”. LOL!!

Emily: Maryse! I looked up Catherine Coulter books, and found it!! It’s called “The Offer,” it has the red book cover, and the h’s name is Sabrina. Thank you so much for your help on this!!

Emily: JulieO, not sure what racing kittens are, but I remember it was at the end of the book. I was not aware this was part of a series, so maybe when I read the other books it will explain more!
