Aldagi is looking for this one! Marital strife indeed… but I don’t have many historical romances under my belt, so maybe someone here knows this one. π
She asks:
Hi,
I am looking for a historical romance novel.
The hero and heroine are married, but live separately. They correspond through letter.
One day while the hero was sitting with his friends, he gets a letter from his wife informing him that his mother in law has passed away. He leaves immediately to attend the funeral.
Later on he is rude to his wife…

and eventually the give their marriage a second chance.
Ends with happily ever after.
UPDATE!!!! Aldagi has more details for us:
i remember some more details.
The book is a historical romance, after attending his mother in laws funeral he decides to stay back for few days.
The next day during breakfast when the hero (who is an Earl/Duke .. Along those lines) and his friends are seated for breakfast he behaves rudely to his wife and she leaves the table crying.
Later on the wife of his married friend knocks some sense into the hero. And there the hero decides to change the way he behaves with his wife and be more sympathetic.
And the story goes on. π phew i hope the bell rings.
Do you know it?
Jan: Iβd like to know what this one is too π Sounds interesting.
rdrherrera: There is two that comes to mind, Devilβs Love by Julia London and Unforgivable by Joanna Chambers.
Aldagi: rdrherrera, thank you for the replying, but these books are not it. But i remember some more details.
