Reader Question… Solved! The mafia book about the nanny that takes care of his child that only speaks Russian…

Gemma needs our book help! Oh I LOVE books with kids, especially with a language barrier being an issue.

There was a time when we moved from Montreal to Toronto, and I had a babysitter who only spoke English and I only spoke French. I was about 4 or 5 years old and I remember how difficult it was for us to communicate. I especially remember one time when I was trying to tell her to cut the fat off my meat because I didn’t like fat. I would say “No gras”, and she’d ask… what is “gras”? We had a giggle over that one, when it was put on the table and I was finally able to point to it.

She taught me “gras” = “fat”. One of my first English words!! 😉

A young woman sees a job advert in a local paper and goes to look after the male leads child. His sister lives there who has issues. His son only speaks Russian and he eats all that is put in front of him.
