Reader Question – The series about the squad of military-type guys that built a ranch house with an underground escape tunnel…

Melissa has a reader question for us!! It’s for a whole series, and she’s loaded it with good info (for sure, someone who’s read it knows it!), and maybe that someone is right here! 😀

She asks:

I can’t for the life of me find the author or series name and what I describe below happens throughout the series.

It’s based on a squad of military-type men. Earlier in the series it focuses on two brothers who built a ranch house out in the middle of nowhere and it has an underground escape tunnel which they end up using later in the series.

I think that the men and/or the wives have special abilities that puts them in danger from a group trying to capture them?

Towards the end of the series one of the the brothers wives (who built the ranch house) is pregnant (with twins??) and another’s child seems to be communicating with the babies in utero?

Eeeeeep! Yeah that sounds intense, and I’ve heard about this (the last part about the communicating with the babies). It almost feels like I’ve read these, but you’d think I’d KNOW it, so I think I’ve been told about these books, and that’s why it’s “telling me” something. For some reason, I’m “feeling” like it’s the “Midnight Breed” series by Lara Adrian, and I have read most of that series (back in 2009?)… and LOVED it. But wouldn’t I remember? It feels like it’s that.
