Erica Stevens – The Captive Series Reading Order

in Reading Order Guide:

Book #1 has been free on occasion (I think it’s free right now, even!), and I’ve been noticing some some of our fellow readers chatting about this series. They like it! One of our dark & creepy romances? Not sure, but from that synopsis, I think I’m gonna love it, and considering there’s a vampire in this one, I might love it even more! I’ve been wanting to get into a nice intense vampire series.

Amy: OMG guys!!! The Captive series… Braith the vampire is dangerous and protective and swoon-worthy and scary and just…GAH! It’s books 1 through 6 plus the prequel (which BROKE my heart and left me with a nice solid ache for, like, 3 days) but I would recommend waiting on the prequel until after book 4 to get the full effect of it. Even the author said SHE cried while writing the prequel. Okay, I’m done gushing.  ;)

Joanna: …I bought it a while back and liked it. Dystopian vampire book, very different and a little harsh. I liked it a lot.

Paula: I love this whole series. Book 4 (and final book) will be out in June.

Johanna: I must admit, each book in this series gets better and better.. Book 3 (Refugee) was really good.. It’s so different from the normal vampire reads…

Michele: Maryse, … I can’t wait for you to read Captured! I enjoyed it (& the 2nd book, haven’t read the third)…

Julie: Just read it and book 2! I really liked them! You can tell she’s a new author, but she defiantely has potential! Can’t wait for bk 3! No smut but good story!

Tiffany: I read Captured today and I was really into it!! Like Julie said you can tell she is a new Author but she has it going on with her writing!!! Starting Renegade tonight!! Looking forward to It!! I picked it because it was in my Amazon recommendations and it was free!! SO GLAD I DID!!! also I LOVE the name Braithe!! He is Swoon Worthy!!!

Katie: … it was great. A little short at only 110 pages but I didn’t feel cheated at all. The main female is only 17 but I didn’t feel like it was YA. It has just the right balance of angst to it. Just enough to keep me wanted more but not too much that I want to throw my Kindle across the room ;)

Mary: That is one of the best series I have read is a long time, needless to say it has you hanging. When is book #4 coming out? I am dying to find out what happens to Aria and Braith.

About book #1:

Blood Slave.
Captured, taken from her beloved family and woods, Aria’s biggest fear is not the imminent death facing her, but that she will be chosen as a blood slave for a member of the ruling vampire race. No matter what becomes of her though, Aria knows that she must keep her identity hidden from the monsters imprisoning her. She has already been branded a member of the rebellion, but the vampires do not know the true depth of her involvement with it, and they must never know.

Though hoping for death, Aria’s world is turned upside down when a vampire named Braith steps forward to claim her. He delays her execution, but Aria knows it’s only a matter of time before he drains her, and destroys her. Especially once she learns his true identity as a prince within the royal family; the same royal family that started the war that ultimately brought down humankind, reducing them to nothing more than servants and slaves.

Aria is determined to hate the prince, determined not to give into him in anyway, but his strange kindness, and surprising gentleness astonish her. Torn between her loyalties to the rebellion, and her growing love for her greatest enemy, Aria struggles to decide between everything she has ever known, and a love she never dreamed of finding.

I hate to be mean, but it fricking sux to get involved in a series that is put out when all of the books haven’t even been released….it is as frustrating as waiting on all of the “Twilight” movies to come out!!! Sometimes…forplay just lasts tooooo damn long!……..:-[

So, those who have read this series, on a scale of 1-10 (1 being hand-holding and 10 being “holy shit that just happened”) how steamy is this series?

The lukewarm stuff makes my face frowny :( :(

Maryse June 5, 2013 at 4:23 PM

LOL Emily! I’m curious, too.

I read the entire series. I could not stop! Loved all of them. As for the steaminess, it is just enough. It’s not so much that it takes over the story, nothing raunchy, but after my nightly read, I was much more “friendly” toward my husband. LOL
