“Maryse- Have you read the KGI series by Maya Banks? It centers around the six Kelly Brothers. All have a military background and now run an elite ops “family business”. The Kelly men are ALPHA males with a capital A! Maya has written the first 3 (The Darkest Hour, No Place to Run, and Hidden Away). The second No Place To Run was my fav! Would love for Sam Kelly to pull me out of the lake!”
Nicole agrees!
“I definitely recommend Maya Banks KGI series too.. just check out the cover of each book it’ll be enough to suck you right into reading them. :)”
and Jeannie pointed them out to me, too:
“I went through your top 25 books for 2011 and i see that we read most of the same books. I have a few authors I think you may like. Maya Banks KGI series…”
As per the author:
“The Kelly/KGI Series centers around a military family. There are six Kelly brothers, all of whom served in different branches of the military. When the idea for this series came to me, the first question that always pops into my mind is where? For me this answer was immediate. I lived in Paris, Tennessee for several years and spent many a day on Kentucky Lake and in the Dover area. For me, it was the perfect place to base the stories.
The Kellys are a lot of fun to write. They’re loyal, hard working, fiercely competitive and family is the most important thing in their lives. Marlene Kelly is the matriarch of the large family and has a penchant for collecting “strays” as her sons tease her endlessly over. Over the years she’s added “adopted” family members to the fold and she incessantly mothers them all. Her most recent addition to the Kelly clan has her sons up in arms, but Marlene didn’t raise six rambunctious sons by being a wimp!”
These books are great! Just picked up Shades of Gray.
Love this series! Have the all and have reread several. Got my mom hooked on them also, lol. 🙂
Kellie – Shades of Gray was gut wrenching, but AMAZING!
Re-read, huh?? I love when books are so good I wanna read ’em again. Thanks for that, guys!
I love this series too! Eagerly anticipate each installment!
I have these from before but I haven’t read. I’m going to 🙂
Maryse a little typo error Forged in Steele (A KGI NOVEL) – expected release June 25th 2012 ( 2013 ) 🙂
OOhh… these do look good. 😉
You know the first book was just reecommended to me by goodreads based on my “read” shelf. Between your blog and that site my kindle account is getting a work out.
I absolutely LOVE this series! Read #1-3 and ready to go on the rest. For sure a re-read. Highly recommend!
Great Series, I’ve read them all 🙂
In regards to Maya Banks KGI series,I reccommend it highly, I have every one except for Forged in Steel which I have on preorder for when it comes out this summer. One thing I really loved about this series was not only the steam and romance, but I loved how each story was different and yet in a strange way interconnected, you don’t see it right away, but the more of them that you read, you catch it,.it just makes it all that much better–very good read!!!!!!!!!
I loved every one of these books, read several times. 🙂
Do you ladies have other recos for books like KGI? Thanks!
Read this series .. it is Awesome. Military Men .. hot Alpha males.
Can’t wait for the next book – Steele’s story. So far Rio stole my heart.
Georgia
If you enjoyed these military guys you should check out Suzanne Brockmann’s Troubleshooters Series – I’ve reread them twice – just can’t get enough of Sam Starrett!
Can’t wait for the next! Wish one would come out about Donovan!
Love, Love, Love this series. Great stories.
Love this series couldn’t put them down. Are there more books to come after Forged in Steele? Are we going to get the rest of the Kelley men married?
I love, love, love the KGI series. This could be a movie franchise or television series-each book gets a season, really. I can’t wait for the next book to come out-Forged in Steele. Let’s put hot military men in with our bad boys and rock stars!
…and Donovan will have his own story next year! Maya Banks has a lot of projects. I am waiting on the release of “Fever” too.
I love the KGI series! I’m actually just reading Shades of Grey now (only half way through, no spoilers please!)
I was actually waiting for Christine Fehan to put out a new Ghostwalkers book when I came across Maya Banks’ Whispers in the Dark, and it just blew me away! It was very similar to the books I hd been reading, and the writing was so detailed that it just swept me up in the story.
Banks is a seriously talented writer. I still have the first 3 books to read, but I’m really looking forward to Forged in Steel. Steel is such an unknown character, it will be fun to crack that nut (no pun intended… OK, maybe it was… lol) I’m really glad I stumbled across this series 🙂
PS: If any of you KGI fans haven’t read Christine Feehan’s Ghostwalkers series yet, you seriously need to go read one now! They’re very similar to the KGI series – The Ghostwalkers are mercenary/soliders too, but they’re also genetically enhanced. Personally, they’re my favorite books.
What about Donovan? You need to add a book to this series for Donovan to get him a woman. Love most of your books, not so much the threesomes but the rest are great.
Ok help please which of Maya Banks books do i read next? I just finished reading Shades of Gray the last in the KGI series and I read the sweet series where do i go next?
I love most of the KGI novels by Maya Banks. I read them all and my favorite one was Whisper in the Dark. I think she did a really good job with the story line. I hope she writes one on Donovan. He’s one of my favorite characters. I just got done reading her latest KGI novel called Forge in Steele. Its the next one after Shades of Gray. Shades of Gray torn my heart and I felt so bad for PJ. I honestly think Maya could of done a better job with the story of Steele. I’m not trying to hate or anything but Maya turn Steele from the ice man he was into a gay domesticate guy. It was just so unlike Steele to become like that. I also found a few typos in a few of the KGI books and (though its not a big deal But!!!) I realized that she just rushed through writing the stories and they were not as good as the original ones involving the Kelly brothers. I think the story of Steele could of been written better by having Maren kidnapped and then Steele goes to find her and then they go through all these obstacles and then they fall in love. I think that would of been a better story line than having him jump right into bed with Maren and not knowing her within the first couple of chapters but over all it was okay. Not the best but it was okay. Whisper in the Dark is still my favorite one and I hope Maya Banks write one on Donovan. I think he needs a women in his life too. I hope her next KGI novel will not disappoint me and that I will be impress with the story line.
I’m thinking Donovan WILL be the main character in the next KGI book. In Forged In Steele, Steele, Sam and Donovan are having a conversation, and Donovan makes a snide remark about the KGI clan becoming domesticated. Then Sam respondes with:
“Your time is coming. Mark my words,” Sam said, pointing his finger at Donovan. “And when it does? We’re all are going to ride you like a mule. You’ll never live it down. I can guaran-damn-tee that much.”
I can’t see why Banks would add that in, unless she planned on Donovan being a character of interest. So hopefully, this was her clue to the next book! 🙂
I was not crazy when she went off the line with the brother chararters and wrote stories about team members like Rio, pj and steel. I would have like them in between the Kelly brothers stories. No doubt I enjoyed them very much.
I can’t wait for Donovan and Joe’s story to come about, I hope they are in the making now as i speak.
Where can I go to find this out. Looking forward to their story.
Please Maya, don’t leave us hanging too long to finish Donovan & Joe’s stories!
Listen… I don’t know why but I smell a romance between Rusty and Sean(the cop) I t would be adorable to see them together.Think about Maya.xoxo
Waiting eagerly for Joe’s, Rusty’s, Donovan’s and Skylers stories. Maybe Rusty and Sean or Dolphin and Skyler. I’m sure they will be edgy and super romantic whomever you choose. Just do it SOON!
I just started reading the KGI series OMG there are so good..
Love the KGI novels. Echoes at Dawn and Whispers in the Dark are favorites. Is there one about Joe Kelly? He is the only one of the brothers I haven’t read about except peripherally. Want to read his story
Also have found a few typos, curse of being the daughter of a spelling mut
I have just started reading this series, but I can’t get them order so do you have to read them in the order they were written? Or can you read them out of order.
I just finished the series with After the Storm. Now I am hoping for another book ASAP about Joe. Reads like maybe there might be one in the making on Rusty and Sean also. I am keeping my eye on any that are forth coming. Now I am going to begin the Colter series.

I have read all of the KGI books and am waiting on another one. My favorite is all of them. I am ex-military and am enjoying retirement. Reading is a passion for me. I love all of the books I have read that you write, but the KGI Series is on the Mark for me. Please me know when the next one is due out.
Correction. I have read other books that you have written . Please let me know when the next book is due out.
Do you know if Maya Banks has written a story about Rusty of the KGI series. Have all of the other books. Our source for books decided to close that part of their store down as did the store in neighboring towns. Even our used books stores. I miss getting the books as soon as they became available
Will there be any more KGI books in the series?
More KGI books?
