Hey Maryse!
I loved Tainted Black and Untainted by Shanora Williams, and have been looking for similar books involving a hero way older than the heroine… Do you have any suggestions? I’ve checked the recommendations list on your page but was wondering if there were any other recommendations!!
I’m in for testing a new server! Hi everyone!! *waves frantically* Miss you all. Way behind on my word count for NaNo, but still trying. I have a half day of work tomorrow and then I’m off til Monday for the holiday, so hopefully I can make it up… fingers crossed!
In other news, Beauty Mark by Stephie Walls released yesterday. I read an ARC of this one, and it was a definite 4.5 star read – a lot different than the insta-connections and ooey gooey love stories that a lot of us are gorged out on right now…and that cover, it’s one of my very favorite book covers ever. Such depth in character development…even though I wanted to smack some people at times, it was just really well written and I loved it.
I know I have a lot to catch up on, bev, what’s the cliff notes version? LOL!
I wish we could get a quick summary from all of our NaNo writers about what their story is about… or maybe a fun tidbit about an experience you’re having while writing it (music you’re listening to, or crazy awesome idea that just flooded you, or you know… stuff like that).

Grey nothing to share cause everyone is MIA. I can only talk of my own pain. Seriously. Everyone left.
I did ask Maryse to go to Haiti.
She said yes.
It was a beautiful moment.
Then R. came along.
“Come be a lark flying.”
in 1970″
Maryse hid behind Amy.
Amy is a boss.
Maryse *whispered*
“Yes, R. I’ll fly with you.”
It was a sad moment.
I may of cried.
But I couldn’t be mad at R.
She is the only one here.
I’d have no one to talk to.
Oh, wait. Jan and Leslie too.
*kicks R’s new Lark book*
*kicks it good*
Now it flies.
I have power read three books in the last few days/week? (and one of ’em, being 550 pages!!!) I feel all book-happy now!! π

LMAO bev!!! I had nothing to do with Larks! I read it a while ago. Maryse probably just wanted to get it in before the release. But I am getting a very shiny copy of Larks in the mail tomorrow and word has it, if you kick it you may break your foot. I’m excited like it’s Christmas Eve and I’ve already read it! But shiny and new π

Grey & Lisa, Tell me more about this NaNo thing you guys are working so hard on. Do we get to read these when you are done? Like are all the writers works published somewhere?? I’m guessing the stuff some of you are writing might not be my thing as I remember some of you killing characters?! *gasp* However, I’m just super curious. I am the opposite of creative and admire those who can pen fabulous tales.
I, too, have wondered if we could read the Nano stuff…

Aww bev… *tackle hugs* sorry, I know, you’re not touchy feely… Where’d everyone go? It can’t be just because of my chatty a$$, come on peeps, come back, I promise it’ll be better soon!!!
Leslie, I can’t speak for Lisa or Tessa… come in Tessa, where are you girl? how’s it going btw? But… uh, published, I’d sooner bash my head in with a rock! Um, as far as reading my nano stuff… mmmm, *crickets* I’m not sure. I suffer from crippling self doubt and just don’t think I’m that good. If I manage to pull this off, we’ll see. I can tell you that my MC is a labor and delivery nurse and I’m writing entirely in first person… which is hard as hell, but I hope it will be worth it.

Im writing in NaNo because its a massive challenge….and Im of the belief that every avid reader and book lover has a book in them somewhere waiting to get out.
Self doubt…yes!! What Im writing is probably crap…but in the spirit of supporting and admiring our beloved authors who bare their own hearts and souls to us every time they publish, I’d be bloody well stoked (that’s Aussie slang for gleefully happy) if someone read the results of my labour.
It doesnt really matter if no one else ‘gets’ my story either. Its been a totally selfish indulent exercise.

Hey Grey and Lisa! I’m so proud of you guys!! I’ve done a lot of beta reading for 1st time writers. It’s one of the things that helped me the most starting out. And even though I’m not there yet and have a looonnnnggg way to go, this is what I’ve learned. As scary as it may be, get it out there. Let someone you trust see it, then let people you don’t. You can’t get constructive criticism by sitting on it! And you’re exactly right Lisa, we all have a book in us. That’s where I started too. All you can do is get better. And readers get better whether they’re trying to or not. Four out of five may hate it, but it’s the one who loves it that will keep you typing away. Email or PM me if you ever want me to look over something for you π

Robin. You are on like Donkey Kong!!
Ive put so much damn effort into this novel…made a playlist on Spotify for heavens sake….researched Australian Defence Force…researched how to write a steamy sex scene (like I havent read enough of them to be an expert at that!! π
Researched the most horrible ways to die. Dont ask.
I think Im going need someone to read it…just so the efforts been worth it. Even if you tell me quite honestly that its the worst book you’ve ever read..I’ll be happy some one has read it. I’ll cry of course but I’ll be happy.
