Okay, so I’ve recently put down a couple of books I’ve started (good books but just not holding my attention in my current state) and I also have a few reviews I’m working on at the same time. Unfortunately, due to my recent encounter with those evil butt-kicking Canadian cooties (read: flu virus) during my trip to Canada last week, my medicine head is preventing me from being coherent long enough to get anything finished both reading and writing-wise.
The only good thing about feeling like this is that I get plenty of uninterrupted reading time, in bed. All cozy with my warm and fuzzy pajamas, and all the time in the world now, to read. Thing is, I keep conking out.
But I figured I’d let you in to the three books I’ve started. Yes. THREE. I’m usually one to start and finish each book before I move onto the next, but those cooties have me all discombobulated, and I’m actin’ crazy!!
READING RIGHT NOW (fell asleep reading this one, and will be getting right back to it as soon as I’m done with this little update):Β DirtyΒ by Megan Hart
Β So far so good. Eloquently written, beautiful introspection and yet… dirty. Somewhat troubled but professional woman meets handsome stranger, but there’s something about “them” that has her confused. Normally she’s a “sex ’em and leave ’em” type (yep, I said SHE). But with him, she can’t get him off of her mind. He seems to feel the same way. I’m curious as to where this is going…
P.S. I’m dying to read another novel from the same author:Β BrokenΒ Β (this one is calling me….)
And next is the book I was reading at the airport and on the plane over the weekend (and could likely be the cause of my current cootie overload. Whoops! Not the book… LOL!! The airport):Β Rock ChickΒ by Kristen Ashley
Super steamy read so far (i’m at about 40%) and it made me blush a few times in the airplane and had me glancing over my shoulder to make sure nobody else was reading along with me…. hee hee!!
Already they had an amazing *fight* where he was all insulted by her assumptions of him. Love it when the guy says “get your stuff and get out!”
I dunno why. It just always makes me giddy!
Why did I quit reading it? No reason. I love it plenty so far, I think just all the super-sleuthing was messing with my inability to concentrate, and I set it aside until I’m feeling better.
Coming UndoneΒ by Lauren Dane
Real good, I’m plenty into it, but it’s just not rocking my world. And I’ll tell you why. I feel Brody as a bad-boy perfectly until it gets to the “steamy scenes”. Then… well. To be honest? I just don’t see a guy like him saying the stuff he does when getting busy. Already that he’s too wordy, in my opinion, when he’s… you know… ;). Oh sure… some of the stuff he says has me giggling, but not hot and bothered. I’m more “Really? Would a guy actually say that, during THAT?”
So I did the unthinkable. I read a few scenes to my husband. Yep. First he said: “WOW! Now I know what “romance novel” really means.” Eeeeeeeep!! I had to clarify that this was more “erotic” romance. But then he did agree that Brody was a bit too articulate for what the scene called for. But I will certainly finish it as I see a certain female might be up to no good, and I’d like to see how that plays out.
So that’s it guys. Oh yeah. And the reviews I’m working on are for both of the “Neighbor From Hell” novels that I loved so much. Loved ’em both equally, but for different reasons. Each had a unique *feel* for me. Oh and working on the review forΒ Fallen From GraceΒ by Laura Leone. I read this one last year, but it totally deserves a 4 star review, and I’m catching up on it, too.
I recommended “Dirty” by Megan Hart months ago to u. Thanks for giving it a try. FYI…the author writes about Harrisburg, PA and I live here. She describes places and each one is a place here. Super sexy read. I think you will like it **sqeeee**. Not ANYTHING like our fifty shades love but close enough. Let me know what you think!!!!! **Chris**
haha! You’re recommendation will likely show up in my review π I keep allll of everyone’s recommendations! They’ve got their own file folder!
Hi, Maryse!, I’m glad your are trying Megan Hart. I’ve read all her books and let me tell you that I’m an addict. She’s such a good writer and the stories are so compelling that even though there is no clear HEA in each book, you are going to cry, squee and be obsesed about it long after you are done reading. I really hope you like it. If that’s the case, try to read them in a cronological order sugestesd in Goodreads’ Megan Hart Fans Group.
I am currently reading Shayla Black “wicked” series! two words for u Maryse YUM YUM !!!!!
Arwen….I agree!!!!!!!!!!! Megan Hart Rocks!!!
Yeah can’t wait for your review on coming undone…………
I love Megan Hart! You will love love love broken! Please read it!
Amanda! Just so I know… is Broken as dark as Dirty?
Don’t stop with Dirty – you’ll need to follow it up with Stranger and Switch. You’ll see the same characters showing up……
She’s almost as addictive as K Ashley. π
Cece.. I just finished Dirty. Very good. Loved it, even. But just in a different way than I normally love my usual books. This one was dark and gritty and somber. Still though, I couldn’t stop reading at a certain point…
I can’t believe you were able to put down Lee and Indy!!!! Rock Chicks (and their Hot Bunch) Rule – the whole darn series is fabulous!!!!
Im so glad you are going to check out Broken! I loved it. It was steamy and sweet and heartbreaking all rolled into one book. It is pretty dark and made me angry at somepoints and cry my eyes out at others. Made my emotions all over the place ( that’s my kind of book) LOL. Happy reading!!
