Just had to share this. Late last night, my husband saw a few of my Facebook friends chatting about “Stolen“, he sampled it, decided it sounded awesome and bought it for me. So guess what I’m reading tonight? Yep. I must admit, I’m actually excited to give it a go. As he was telling me about it, all that he read review-wise, and his own “sampling of it”, I had to laugh.
I ALSO had to beware and stifle his excitement, because he has been known to give away a little too much detail in the past…
The conversation went a little like this:
Him: Oh I downloaded you a book last night!! You have to read this it looks good! Even I wanna read it!
Me: Oh yeah?
Him: Don’t you remember I woke you up to tell you about it?
Me: Oh yes. I sort of do remember that… I thought I was dreaming. By the way, you really need to stop waking me up at night…
Him: (not even paying attention to my lack-of-sleep grumbling)… Looks like many people are loving it, so then!! I went and I checked out even more of what they were saying and they were sayin’…
Me: Ah Ah Ahhhhh!!!! NO!! Don’t tell me ANYTHING about it!!! Telling me it’s amazing is plenty!
Him: Yah but… and then… I downloaded it myself and started reading it, and it starts off like this…
Me: (hands over my ears)… lalalalalalalallala STOPPPPP don’t tell me!!!!
Him: No don’t worry, I’m not telling you anything, it’s just kind of “dark” but it’s really cool because then she says…
Me: ugggghhhh!!! Fine STOP, I’ll read it tonight. I wanna be surprised!! Don’t tell me!
*stomps off out of the room to go to work*…
Grrrrr!!!
LOL! Can you imagine what it’s like watching movies with him, if he’s already watched it first? *nods and purses lips* Ahhh gotta love his enthusiasm!
Was going to start on Blue-Eyed Devil, but I’ll definitely read this tonight, before he slips up, can’t help himself and tells me all about it. It does appear to be YA, but I dunno, maybe “older” YA? I glanced quickly at the premise and it looks like it could very well hold my attention. I’ll admit the subject matter makes me a little nervous, along with the reviews which seem to be all over the place… (P.S. I’m avoiding actually reading the reviews for fear of spoilers, for now). But either way, it seems to be stirring readers.
Hoping I love it! I’ll let you know.
Let me get this straight. Your husband WILLING talks BOOKS with you? ( I’m gonna close my mouth now before I catch a fly!)
I have to dive and tackle my husband to tell him about the latest “best–ever-absolutely-freaking-out-about-and-so-must-share-every-last-detail-with-you” book. HE covers his ears and whimpers “PULEEEZE β¦no…not another one!”.
You are a lucky girl!
LOL Maureen!!
Well, for the most part I think he zones me out eventually when I rant and rave about a book (thank goodness for this blog!!) but, yes, he certainly does help and participate in my book enthusiasm π
Hahaha Maureen……so so true.,keep us updated Maryse………
My husband just comes home from work and says ” I see you bought another book tonight” … Ya got a catch Maryse!!! However I have to say mine isn’t too bad he doesn’t complain about my book spending he just pays the bill and shakes his head! Ahahahah
Thanks Rachel! Agreed! It is nice to have husbands who don’t mind all the reading!
Yes you are one lucky girl! My husband looks at me reading on my iPad and wishes he never bought me the thing!
