Happy 4th of July + What I’m Currently Reading…

in What I am reading today

Happy 4th of July my friends and happy belated Canada Day to my fellow Canadians! I met a ton of Canadians at Book Bash, and had my own family down from Canada “book bashing” ;) with us. What FUN!

Okay so right now I’m still in “relax” mode and reading (it’s pouring rain outside – no fireworks for us), and I’m a bit sick. One thing about large crowds is we share everything. Enthusiasm, pictures, and germs! Nothing better than reading when I feel this way, ’cause everyone (*ahem* the husband) leaves me alone. ;)

Hey!! Do you guys wanna read with me, today? This one was recommended a day ago, and the premise alone had me scrambling to download the sample immediately, and the price had me bypassing the sample altogether. It’s now mine! But I warn you, while it is right up my dark alley, this book is not for everyone.

Kandace: Maryse… You have to checkout ‘Escape From Paradise’ by Gwendolyn Field. A bunch of us read it this week and LOVED it. It is a dark read about a girl who gets kidnapped (we know you’re a sucker for a good kidnapping story). I would rate 5++++ stars. Definitely in my top 3 for 2013.

Maryse’s Book Blog: Ohhhhhhh!!!! Kandace!! I’m going to Amazon right now to get it.

Adele: Based on Kandace’s recommendation I downloaded this earlier today, and OMG, she was spot on! I could NOT put it down despite the million other things I had to do! Definitely not for the faint of heart, it deals with some dark subject matter. Stand alone, with its own version of HEA.

Lori: Oh yes Maryse! It’s right up your alley! So intense, it’s so good!

Kandace:  Gah! I’m in serious book love. I haven’t been this excited about a book in a long time.

Julie: Yes, Maryse, you must read it, very good!!

Alexandra: Goodbye my social life….

LOL Alexandra. You ‘n me both. I’m actually thankful there are no fireworks parties for me tonight as that means I can indulge.

So yep, I’ve taste-tested it already and it’s a dark kidnap-y story, and just what I’m looking for, for that adrenaline surge. Adrenaline was coursing through me all weekend, but it’s Thursday now, and I could use another jolt. I’m at 30% and I can confirm that this is a very uncomfortable read. Situations… just … the whole shebang. Good so far, and I’m hoping for “OMG GREAT!”

Who’s game?

It’s a good, keep you interested at all times, book! Not CJ Captive, but definitely entertaining!

You will love this Maryse. It was 5 stars for me. I loved this book! It’s dark, but not as intense as Captive in the Dark. You should move this one to the top of your list:)

Just finished this last night. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you like dark reads, you should love this. I didn’t connect with the heroine initially, but loved it towards the end, especially with more of Colin in the story. <3

I loved this one too. Definitely wont be for everyone because it is really dark and disturbing but it is also filled with hope and strength. I hope you like it Maryse. It’s one of my top reads so far this year.
