Anna Todd – The After Series Reading Order

in Reading Order Guide:

So… I discovered back in the day (when I first started power reading again)… a certain love for “Fan Fiction” (stories written by “fans” that continue in the world of their favorite book series or famous person life situation). I know… I know… such a reading-taboo for many, as some absolutely resist fan-fiction. But, well… as a reader that couldn’t get enough of the Twilight Saga when I finished the series, or of the Sookie Steakhouse series when I finished THAT one, I just wanted to read and I was DESPERATE for more!!

And then… OMG!!!! I discovered the world of fan fiction, and I was in reading heaven. I didn’t even know that some readers and authors considered “fanfic” a book-sacrilege. I didn’t care about the “taboo”. I just wanted to read. Sure… some of it was a bit… *shrug* ;) but I also realized some of it was REALLY darn good!!!! Helped extend my “life” with my favorite characters, and you what? Some pieces fit PERFECTLY into the original “world” and some writing was so good, they became their own series.

Fifty Shades, anyone? YEP! You know that one rocked SO many of our worlds… and yet, it started out as “Twilight” fanfic. What about the “Beautiful Bastard Series“? Also started as Twilight fanfic that is still making SO many happy.

And now there’s this one! Not Twilight “fanfic” no, but it’s about a girl that falls for a famous singer, from a famous band (one many are super-fans of right now, in fact). And it developed a HUGE following. And now it’s a published series. Names have been changed, the story has been “tightened up” and went from a 1500 page story to a 4 book series (each book is HUGE), so if you wanna indulge in a rock star romance? I think this could be it! i haven’t read it yet, but I’m dying to know more…

ALSO recommended by Karla:

“Going to have to make a recommendation to all your readers! If you haven’t read ‘After’ series by Anna Todd you need too! Don’t get sucked in by the free Wattpad version though as the character names are all from One Direction and I feel it cheapens it!Buy the paperbacks where the editings a little better and the names have been changed. I bought the first one on Friday and literally absorbed it. The last three came today and I’m already halfway through book two. I am in LOVE with Hardin (though he’s supposed to be British and his sayings are all Americanised :(  )”

About book #1:

There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there’s everything AFTER… Life will never be the same. #Hessa

Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way. But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.

But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before. He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn’t the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.

Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?

Unless…could this be love?

Hi Maryse,
Where do you find these fanfic? Is the site fanfiction.net? How do I identify which ones are good fanfics for my fav books? Is there a rating system? Do you have any list for good fanfics?

This book actually passed up my favorite Beautiful Disaster…..only took 4 years to find one….if you like extremely dysfunctional relationships Tess and Harwin make Pidge and Travis look like The Beavers……it was a crazy angst feel ride and I loved every minute

Are you reading it Maryse? Let us know if it’s worth the more than 7 dollar price tag…. because a rude bad-boy is on my radar for the holidays! (Okay, it’s always on my radar…. fine…. I admit it….) So, what story is it a “fan fiction” spin-off of?

I believe it is fan fiction of One Direction. I admit that does put me off especially for the price tag. The last time I was into a boy band I was ten.NKOTB.

Bev – really? Oy Vey….. One Direction fan fiction??? LOL!!! New kids on the Block??? LOL!!!! I was NEVER into boy bands, but I was always into bad boys… so maybe I’ll give ti a chance. I got a $50 Amazon card from my inlaws (yipee) so I guess I could take a chance. I wish Maryse would hurry up and read it and report back!

MichelleS lol I was 10! Nice gift. I do like that the books are so long, but I’d have to get the pic of that little boy singer out of my head, lol.
If you go for it definitely let us know how it is.

Apparently Simon and Schuster gave the author six figure deal for it. Can you imagine?

Bev. I can’t stand boy bands or one direction but I absolutely loved this book

I read this entire series and it’s well worth the cost. The author is incredibly talented in the way she wrote this story, I had re-read it and love the dysfunctional relationship of Hardin and Tessa, it’s beautifuly chaotic.
