Last Hit (A Hitman Novel Book 1) by Jessica Clare & Jen Frederick <— MAFIA ROMANCE LOVERS!!! This one was popular and I’m bringing it right back to the forefront because I just love this description from Stephanie! So… here’s how it started.
Once upon a time, a few in our book crew (me included!!) were wondering about THIS book (some were struggling to get into it), and Stephanie came to the rescue and mini-reviewed it right in the middle of our discussion, and I’m so glad I found it!
Now we can immortalize it into a post for all of us to see!
She said:
Stephanie: I loved it! But, I think I know why people aren’t getting into it. Here’s the deal…everyone is going into this book with the mindset that they want something dark and gritty.
Well, the first half of the book was a sweet budding romance between Nikolai/Nick and Daisy. Nick and Daisy were a little socially awkward and very inexperienced at love. She was this sweet, naive character who lived a completely sheltered existence. While Nick was a trained killer/hitman who’s cold and lethal. They were completely different, yet these two lonely people were a perfect fit for each other.
They had some serious chemistry, and their erotic conversations were a major turn-on. Nick’s Russian tongue and his dirty, crude words were naughty and hot, hot, hot. I found Nick to be exactly what I look for in my perfect Alpha! He’s a fierce, dangerous, badboy. And, he’s loyal, overprotective, and willing to put his woman’s happiness above his own.
Now, the second half of the book was what us Sinners were waiting for. During the second half of the book, the dark forces, a.k.a. the Russian Mafia, started taking over. Once the villians came out to play, it was like somebody turned up the volume and cranked the story into overdrive. I really can’t tell you much without giving away spoilers, but there were plenty of twists and turns that kept me glued to my kindle!
There was no denying that the second half of the story was more dynamic and exciting when compared to the first half of the book. But, this twisted tale did pack a little bit of everything: sweetness, darkness, romance, mystery, and suspense!
Last Hit’s ending wraps up Nick and Daisy’s storyline ~ while hinting at a darker part two with Daniel and Regan’s story. I can’t wait for part two!

Kathy: Stephanie, you totally nailed it in your review. The second half was much edgier and darker. I have a feeling that the second book in the series about Daniel will be even better. Worth the read!
