I really liked this one! Crystal Nichols: Just Desserts
A great new book about betrayal and infidelity by a husband with a family member, and how the FMC rebounds. Isla, the MFC, has put her professional ambitions on hold to support her husband’s law school and career goals. But his goals of success morph without telling her and he’s dismissive about her plans and distant in their marriage.
The angst level is high and the betrayal is devastating. Some explicit sex, but again you can read or easily skip per your preferences. Another binge worthy book. And it’s the author’s first book!
The main tropes are:
– The FMC comes across as super nice with hints of strength that turn into steel as the story progresses
– The MMC is an arrogant entitled turd who has a “have your cake and it too” mentality regarding women…he’s also misappropriated company funds and violated the company non fraternization policy
– The OW is truly horrible, devious, and evil, and she hates the FMC…she’s works under the MMC, a job the FMC helped her get before the affair started
– A devastating discovery of the MMC’s and OW’s infidelity that’s documented and then revealed to the FMC’s family
– The FMC moves out and files for divorce
– The MMC starts unsuccessful groveling while putting up roadblocks towards the divorce and still carrying on with the OW
– The FMC meets a new man (who has had a disastrous prior run-in with the OW), who helps the FMC rebuild her life
– Post divorce, the OW announces she’s pregnant
– The MMC spirals
