<— BLAST FROM OUR PAST!! REMEMBER THIS ONE?? Our crew went crazy for it and so many buddy read it together. And I’m immortalizing that fun conversation, right here.
Sarah: To say this book knocked me on my tail is an understatement. One of the main things I love about Ilsa’s writing is that you never know what you are going to get. You judge a book by it’s cover, you see small teasers, and you THINK you know what you are in for. Well let me tell you, you literally have NO IDEA.
The depth that she pulls from her characters, from the stars to the ones that have one scene, is literary genius at it’s finest. It’s magical. It’s awe-inspiring. It’s breathtaking. There just aren’t enough adjectives that can adequately describe the emotions that coursed in my veins throughout this book. Heck, even merely calling it a book seems like a disservice, for it was SO much more than that.
Two broken souls, searching for forgiveness from each other, from those around them, but mostly from themselves. It’s a journey, and it’s one that will take you from the highest highs to the lowest lows. From the first page until the last, I had no clue how it would end. I had my hopes and I had my fears, but never could I have imagined the outcome.
So if you haven’t read this yet, you MUST!! Just look at the love for it:
Maryse: TWO NEW BOOK RELEASES!!! Ilsa Madden-Mills just released two more books in her Briarcrest Academy series (you know… “Very Bad Things (Briarcrest Academy #1)” . So now we’ve got a prequel (Book #1.5 (Very Wicked Beginnings) – AND a book #2 (Book #2 (Very Wicked Things). I linked ’em up below, and posted the series reading order.
Tabby: Both of these books together left me a blubbering. emotional mess!! Must reads!!
Erin: These books were incredible!!! Ladies pick them up TODAY!
Lori: The first… was a favorite of mine! Very Bad Things
Chelcie: I’ve never had a prequel make me cry and yet I sit here blubbering. Well done Ilsa well done
Bethany: I totally enjoyed Ilsa’s books!! These two books were great….and Very Wicked Things reads as a standalone, which I really loved!!
Lisa: These two books are AMAZING!! I absolutely love Cuba and Dovey
Shanta: Awesome, I’m a huge fan of IIsa books she is a gifted writer and I look forward to reading all her books. Just got both books yay
Jessica: LOVE THIS!!!!
Nasha: CUBA!!! Love both of them!!
Ivette: Im so excited for this book!! I can’t wait to start reading it. I should’ve called in sick today…
Yvette: Love this! I’m a huge wimp when it comes to angst so I was curled up in a ball pretty much the whole time I was reading.
Julia: Thank you Maryse. I bought them today and can’t wait to read them .After I finish what I’m reading.
Andrea: Yay! Thanks for posting this Maryse! I read both straight through last night and fell in love! I’ll admit I was a little leery at first. I was afraid it would be too YA for my taste, but when you’ve lived a privilege and hard life you grow up fast. Dovey and Cuba may have been students at Briar Crest, but you would never know it was a high school and not a college!
Sarah: As always, Ilsa blew me away. But VWT was so much more than that! It was soul shattering
Debbie: Cuba + Dovey = BOOK LOVE
Carrie: Loved these! Y’all are gonna be swooning for Cuba! Ilsa goes a bit deeper, and darker with these which I loved!!! You won’t put them down!
Andrea: LOVED this book! Cuba was all sorts of hot and cold and amazing! I read this straight through, and when it was over I kept trying to flip the pages hoping for more! I’m pretty sure you’ll love it Maryse!
“You’re a light I need. Like a thousand f*cking suns.”
-Cuba Hudson, Very Wicked Things by Ilsa Madden-Mills
Erin: I am reading it right now and love it!!!
Lori: I read over the weekend, straight through!! Great read!!
Andrea: Me too Lori! Cuba was like a little poet! Loved him!
Miranda: LOVED both of these. this Book! Fell for Cuba completely! I loved how this book and both Cuba and Dovey were more complex and emotional than I was expecting! Absolutely LOVED it!
Ali: Love Cuba & Dovey! Ah Cuba! He put me through the ringer. So much emotion under his player surface. And Dovey…damn that girl. So tragic but so strong. them!
Andrea: Cuba’s pain was real. He had reasons to feel the way he did. Luckily he was able to pretend through the pain, because that’s what kept him going. He might not have always been the good guy, but he was a straight talker…until Dovey, but sometimes love knocks us all on our ass!
Amy: Cuba & Dove!!! Expect the Unexpected from Ilsa Madden-Mills you never know what she’s going to hit you with and VWT was beyond amazing!!
Kandace: I have to admit I’m going to miss the Cuba teaser pictures. He’s HOT!
Maryse: Wow!!! Thank you for all of these recommendations!! This sounds awesome you guys!!
