EXCERPT:
My palms were clammy, a nervous, anticipatory energy filling my veins as I stared at the beauty on stage. She was tall and lean, but with an hourglass shape. Instantly the image of my hands curled around those nicely rounded hips made my heart beat faster and my manhood throb against my slacks. Her skin was a golden, sun-kissed honey color that I wanted desperately to run my lips all over. And her lips, my God, they were pink, pillowy bits of flesh that demanded a man’s attention.
I wanted to devour this woman whole.
My heart squeezed again, and a warmth spread through my chest. Conflicting feelings of guilt and desire roared through me like a freight train. It was the same feeling I’d had when I kissed my wife’s lips for the last time, right after she begged me to find love again.
In that moment, I knew my lost love had brought this angel before me. Made me feel things for a stranger I hadn’t felt in four years. As if desire, longing, and excitement were wakening from an intense term of hibernation. And I was hungry. Filled to the brim with a need so intense I shook with it.
I hummed low in my throat as I clicked the “Yes” button on my remote.
The numbers lit up on the screen behind the goddess on stage, and I clenched my teeth in a sudden, uncharacteristic fury that slithered through and around my form like a dangerous mist.
YES – 30
NO – 5
MAYBE – 15
Thirty men wanted what would be mine. Another fifteen were open to the option.
“Okay, well, since tonight has been unexpected from one candidate to another, we’ll once again forgo the normal plan. Faith, dear, please remove your dress.”
I stood up, not even realizing I had, as Faith reached behind her with both arms and loosened the top of her dress before slipping it down her succulent form to puddle at her feet.
There she stood in skimpy lace. The panties were almost comical in the fact that they barely existed. The twin ribbons tied at each hip would be nothing to tug and get right to the heart of her.
I wanted to murder every man in the room for daring to lay eyes on my intended.
Nile took my wrist. “Joel, calm down, mate. You’re growling and sneering. You look ready to kill someone.”
My nostrils flared as I picked up my paddle, raised my arm, and clicked the light on before Madam Alana even had a chance to start the bidding.
“Twenty million dollars,” I called out, loud enough for everyone in the large room to hear.
Faith gasped, those striking eyes seeming to pinpoint exactly where I stood, paddle raised, the stream of light a warning to any who dared go against me.
I was filthy rich. Twenty million was nothing to me.
I’d pay much more to secure the one woman that I knew deep down in my soul my Alexandra had chosen for me.
“Number one, did I hear you right? You want to start the bidding at twenty million dollars to secure the hand of Ms. Faith Marino?”
“Yes.”
“Do I have twenty-one million?” Madama Alana’s hand went to her throat, and she audibly gulped.
I grinned as a pleasurable tingle spread over my entire body. It was the same feeling I got when I knew I was about to win something I wanted. Usually it was a building, a boat, or a contract for land. This time it was a wife. A mother for my daughter. A willing woman to warm my bed.
A goddess sent from Heaven above.
The sweet sound of a quiet crowd greeted me as I stared at my soon-to-be wife.
“Soon,” I whispered to Faith, my gaze never leaving hers.
“Sold, for twenty million to bidder number one,” Madam Alana declared.
