Yay, I will be glad to have something distracting to do today than obsess over the election although I am sure to do that too.
No kidding!!!!
There are those bargain priced “Vote then Read” books up there that sounds pretty good. Loaded in our favorite authors. π
I wanted to sleep longer. Definitely besides work need to line up some favorite episodes to watch or find something to read to keep my mind busy today.
I’m at work all day, and then tonight, I read more Addie LaRue!!! I don’t even think I will turn on the TV.
I’ve seen a lot of people that are staying completely away until it is called. I know I can’t do that, so something to keep me occupied but periodic check ins.
I’m probably naive but really hope it is resolved tonight.
Anyone voting today good luck. I saw an important reminder that even if it is closing time stay in line. It is your right to vote.
That is awesome that the Vote then Read books are going towards helping with the wildfires.
Those were devastating this year.
A KU that looks Iike it might be a little creepy but good is The Haunting of Brynn Wilder.
I got that one!!! Last month when it was one of the selections for Amazon First Reads. I should add it again to this list. Thank you bev!!
Happy Tuesday!!! It is a bummer errand day for me. Stuck in the car and appointments and busyness. Bleh! But, I finished Bly Manor before I took off and gosh, it was so sad and creepy. Thanks for the rec, Maryse! And then, I even had a little time to start Holidate! I hope to finish it tonight. It had me laughing, wasnβt too cringey, so I hope it ends good too. Iβm reading Good Girls Lie by J.T. Ellison.
YAY!!!! I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s not too scary… just the ambiance really keeps it there.
I am LOVING Addie LaRue. That author’s writing is INCREDIBLE.
I love that youβre loving it!!
It will be my best of 2020. I AM SURE OF IT. I’m still reading but THIS book, I keep being excited to pick it back up.
I AM LIVING IT WITH HER!!!
Today’s Blast from the Past is EVERYTHING!!! I have loved all those books. Hollis, Atlas, Gideon and yes even Joe… My heart can’t handle it!!!
YAY Shaleen!!! That makes me SO happy!!!! I will keep doing it. π
I LOVE the “Blast from the Past” section…I know I say that all the time, but it’s true!
Also, I picked Open House too this month…it looks great!
Currently, I’m listening to Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier….wow!! What a story and great narration!! I keep thinking…”why did I wait so long?” Of course, I’m pretty early on…so a lot could still happen…but, so far so good…
That makes me SO happy!!!! I will keep doing it. π
I’ve read a book by Jennifer Hillier!! Not that one though. I need to pull up my old review.
I also enjoyed her book, Little Secrets. I’m thinking maybe you read Creep by her?? I can’t remember for sure though.
YES!! That was it. Creep!!!!!
Wow you have an incredible memory, Michele!
Happy Tuesday, and HAPPY ELECTION DAY! Iβm using the drop-box option so no standing in line for me. Iβm not obsessing over this election. What happens, happens. Life will go on. Politicians will do what they want, and all I can do is vote and know I did my part. And I choose to be happy rather than be angry over who is in office. π€·ββοΈ There is too much anger and hatred in our country right now, itβs devastating to see, and I wonβt add to it.
OKAY! Off my soapbox now.
I ended up picking Open House as well for this month! But Every Last Secret looked good as well so I preordered it. π
And has it really been four years since It Ends With Us?! A coworker-friend just finished it so I got to re-live it through her as she went through all of the emotions!
It is hard to watch.
But I do think there has been some righteous anger that will hopefully and finally lead to some major changes that ensure equality for everyone.
And that is as political as I’ll get since it is a book blog.
Though I’m telling you if there was no covid and a certain something happens I might of been tempted to live the next 4 years on the road abroad. Go visit R in her Italian villa.
I think the Italian villa might be a Normandy villa now. But you’re welcome wherever we are!!
I made election day bingo cards off a site I found online if anyone is interested. Of course I’m turning mine into a drinking game because it’s me.
Normandy works.
What types of things are on the card?
covid, mail in voting, climate change, texas, swing vote, fracking, too close to call…
but we have the music blaring so it’s hard to play! π
R! Texas!
*hyperventilates*
R it is so close. π°
I want Texas. I will walk there and kiss it if it stays with us.
OMG you don’t know how bad I want to see Texas blue. I’m a wreck over it. You don’t have to walk. I’ll come pick you up!
R, what happened?
Is there still hope?
To see Texas or Florida flip would of been so sweet.
I think there’s still hope for Texas. Not sure about Florida. It’s early yet and I know the numbers are a mess with all the early voting.
I think I have to stop looking for tonight.
Not to get too political, but I just don’t understand it. This just seems so beyond political lines.
Anyway, if anyone on here is still up good night.
Itβs really big in Australian news. Even the business Chanel is all about the election. I donβt believe I have ever heard so much about the USA election over here.
Whatβs the general consensus over there, are people going for Trump or Bidden.
The media hates Trump but the business channel keeps listing the great job heβs done for USA. So itβs difficult to tell. Then they are saying Bidden would be a mess as president. π€·ββοΈ
Is there a possibility of riots? Itβs hard to imagine over here. Itβs compulsory to vote here.
If you donβt vote your fined. They tick your name off a list.
Instead of spoilers will say political if people want to look away.
With this election in particular ive noticed that the world seems to be watching.
The race is very very close right now.
For me I find it almost more painful to see than four years ago.
I had thought and hoped that their would be a larger and clearer rejection of the past four years.
Others obviously feel differently.
I just saw this today:
https://mobile.twitter.com/AOC/status/1324033694311550984
That is so powerful Bev, do you think that is what the election based on, racism. We also had Black Lives Matter rallies in Australia. In Australia I donβt know whether you know or not but our Prime Minister maybe 5 years ago apologised to the aboriginal community for their mistreatment. Now every school theatre production even University graduation Football game etc tennis baseball game recognises the Aboriginal community and their land.
But hopefully the result is what you require. We also in Victoria have a lot of hatred toward the government over the handling of COVID. We basically have been locked up for 6 months. We needed a work permit to leave 5 kms from your house. And you were only to leave for food. All the retail shops closed. No people were to come to your house. We had to be home by 8pm. It was terrible. No visiting family. Or friends or hospital. All communication by phone. But our numbers are zero for 7 days and we are still partial lock down my hubby hasnβt worked since June as heβs not allowedπ€·ββοΈ
Oh Melinda, itβs horrible here right now. So much hatred over so many things. When people publicly wish death upon someone who contracts Covid simply because they donβt like them, or when people barricade a police department in the hopes of burning the police inside alive and it barely makes a blip in the news…well, that tells you the state of things.
When we lived in Japan, we were told of a term used by locals sometimes – Ugly American. Iβm so sad that people here are living up to that name. I donβt even watch the news anymore for my own mental health.
But you know what? We have our books. And our families. And each other. And we can lift each othersβ spirits and encourage each other and, in Ghandiβs words, just be the change we want to see in the world, RIGHT?! β€οΈ
I know, bev, I hate talking politics with ANYONE, even if we share views. It just gets me upset, and I donβt want to be upset.
And…R, are you moving out of the country?!
No lol. My dream is to own a house in Europe and for years I wanted Italy because you can get a livable house there for very little, but early this year we went to Normandy and fell in love with Omaha Beach so we are rethinking the whole Italy thing.
Also seeing your name and Manny pop up is a shot of happiness.
Awwww, glad I could bring some happy to your day. π That makes ME happy!
Amy, Tasha found us an amazing book to read, and OMG she is right!!! I’m still reading it so I have no idea where it’s going but I’m hooked!! π
Is it the one you talked about below, The invisible of Addie Larue? Because Iβve been eyeing that one and even saved it to my Amazon wish list. I may just splurge and not wait for it to go on sale…
YEP!!! That’s the one. IT IS INCREDIBLE.
Hey…Any recommendations for really good completed series please?
What genre are you looking for?
Youβre about to get pelted with peanuts. π€£
Open to all suggestions. I read a bit of everything. 2nd lockdown in England looming so need some great series to keep me busy but donβt want to have to wait ages for next in series.
Just read the Wildflowers, Bradshaw high, Legacy of nine realms, Four horseman and ravenhood series to give a few examples
I will post your question and see what we come up with… π
Netflix is about to release a new series here based on Juilia’s Quinn series Bridgertons. Shondaland is producing (Grey’s anatomy). If you liked Wildflowers, maybe you could read Bridgertins before watching the show.
That’s a GREAT idea!!!
Thanks for the info Harper…I’m adding to my list too.
I love Greys and Shonda and have seen this advertised so will definitely be watching. Didnβt realise it was based on a book, added to my list. Thank you π
Think we are talking about different wildflower series though? X
Yessss, you are right!! I was talking about Wallflowers by Lisa Kleypas
LOL!!!!! Oh my… I need to bring that old conversation back up. π
Oh no… *covers face and blushes*
*snicker*
*giggle*
π€π₯<--- peanut!! I couldn't find a baby bird with his mouth open...
Maryse, have you ever done book subscriptions? Or, have any of your blog readers? Iβve only recently done BOTM and I do like it, though I skipped this month (I love that that is an option).
Iβm wanting to do subscription like things for Christmas this year, maybe 1 for myself (cuz I canβt help myself π) and a gift for others. Probably the 1 time gift thing since thatβs usually an option and they can decide to continue if they love it. Anyway, I read this article https://www.oprahmag.com/entertainment/books/g26102263/best-book-subscription-boxes/ and a handful appeal to me, but it is an overwhelming list and Iβm wondering if anyone has feedback on any.
I haven’t ever done Book subscriptions (yet), but I DO LOVE subscriptions. I have 2 food subscriptions for me right now:
– my “Misfits Veggie” box (here’s a coupon code if you want to sign up: COOKWME-VW2BMG at https://www.misfitsmarket.com – I think it’s 30% off your first box)
and my
– ButcherBox (both me, and R have that!!) and here’s $15 off your first box: http://fbuy.me/qkhal
And before I would Ipsy – though I ended up with too much makeup that I wasn’t using, so I’m taking a break for now.
I’m contemplating doing the Keto Crate subscription!!! My friend did that, and she didn’t like much of what was in there (she’s a really picky eater) so she gave me most of her box, and I loved it ALL (I AM NOT a picky eater). LOL!!! π
Thanks! I donβt know enough foodies that I buy gifts for usually, so I dk. Just getting into the the shopping around and planning ahead.
Me too… I’ve got so many things in my Amazon Cart right now, so I don’t forget them when it’s time to buy.
Hi Maryse! Iβve been looking at the First Reads choices for this month and my interest was piqued when I got to The Empress: A Novel! I love a good historical romance. This one is about Empress Charlotte of Mexico. Hadnβt heard of her before, so I did what any teenager would do, lol! I Googled her. Wasnβt Well, she led a fascinating life! Born into privilege, said to be gorgeous and sought after by many and she married for love, not obligation! Her life had mother-in-law and sister-in-law drama, her husbandβs lack of concern for ruling the country, intrigue and gossip. To top it off, the castle that her husband built (Chapultapec Castle) in Mexico City is absolutely stunning! Iβm still on the fence about my choice for this month (Iβm loyal to Alessandra Torre), so I may buy it if I choose a different book.
OH YESSSS, Joy!!! I will definitely be getting Alessandra’s too, ’cause I love her stories. She can get intense!!!
And so cool about The Empress. Let me know which one you choose (and if you read it and loved it!!). π
Hi Maryse,
Jay Crownoverβs Justified is free today on Amazon Uk.
I loved Justified…that was a great series!!
I worked at the polls over 12 hours yesterday. I was worried going into Election Day but for the most part everyone was very pleasant. It was so much fun to see all of the first time voters and there were a a lot of them from teenagers to adults in their 20’s and 30’s. Holding my breath today!!
Was so happy to wake up and see (potentially) Wisconsin and Michigan.
That is so cool that you worked at the polls. And to see first time voters must of been a great experience.
The election workers clapped every time a voter said that they were a first time voter when they turned in their ballot. It was so hard to sleep last night. Trying to be patient:)
Though the nerves are hard, I am thinking about all those first time voters having this very real example about why every vote matters.
It is really interesting to watch if it wasn’t also stressful, lol.
White Ivy does look really good Maryse! Thanks for posting it…*adds another book to the pile π
Doesn’t it???? I love the whole aspect of her going back to China and being raised by her grandmother, and coming back anew… it sounds devious and delightful!!!!
Yes…all of that π
Bev and Jan!!!! I believe the both of you would LOVE The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.
This is an incredible, unique, eloquently written (and so addicting) story going back and forth from the 1700s to the present day (and it follows the same heroine).
OMG. READ IT!!
Okay back to my book. LOL!!! I just… you guys popped into my head and I had to stop reading to tell you both.
My reading is still iffy, but that sold me.
*one click*
At least in the tbr.
I should go through my library and just maybe choose 3 or 4 books to read by the end of the year. Just a teeny tiny book pile, lol.
My mind is blanking on what but have read this author and have another to be read.
But this one, bev. Trust me. It is QUALITY and gorgeous, and exciting and stressful… and everything we love (you love).
I’m sometimes off with my focus these days so I just go one book at a time. But THIS ONE?
This is why I read.
OK thanks Maryse. I’d better try it π
I actually have that coming available through my library soon…moving it up the list.
I’m looking forward to reading it! This month, there are two Goodreads discussion groups reading the The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue π
I feel like I’m finally peeking up from underneath my blanket, having unplugged from election stuff all day. World must be ok cause I see we’re still talking about books…
Today was all about playing, crawling & raspberrying with my 7 month old grandson…good workout. He’s now 20 lbs (!!!)…so I could only get in a couple dances with him before arms collapse (today: Don’t Dream It’s Over by Crowded House, Losing my Religion by REM) Taking requests.
Mony that sounds like a WONDERFUL day to me.
And yes. YAY BOOKS!!!! I’m so relieved I’m deep in love with one as we speak. π
I’m working on tomorrow’s Friday Finds!! π Has anyone read something awesome, or listened to an awesome audiobook that they want to recommend?
I can’t remember if I recommended it yet but the Until the End of the World series is awesome on audio. It’s zombie apocalyptic, which I *should* hate, but I loved it! Julia Whelan narrates.
I LOVE HER!! Wow.. then of course it is awesome. If I can remember right, Amy went pretty crazy for this series.
OMG I loved that series. Even though years later Iβm still traumatized by the second book, And After. π©
*giggle*
I think we need to dust Manny off…
Heβs comforting me right now as we speak. I need it after that reminder.
*sobs*
Agreed. The second book needs to sit in a corner and think about what it’s done.
LOL!!!
LOL!!!! That’s one of the cutest comments in awhile!!! ππ
FLT
Everyone has secrets.

πTeardrop Shot by Tijan. A different kind of sport romance set at a nature camp where team is training. Hot & caring NBA player Reese & βcrazyβ Charlieβ¦feel good story.
π€¨Devastated (Anger Management, #1) by R. L Mathewson. Awesome bully storyβ¦especially like Hunter in last third of the book. *sigh*
π₯Manwhore/ Manwhore #1 by Katy Evans. What can I sayβ¦I like egotistical billionaires & IMHO, this one of the best. Both characters, Saint & Rachel, are fabulous and must find their way in an unusual relationship.
GREAT LIST Mony!!!
P.S. I’m adding it to the Friday Finds!! π Oldies but goodies on there!!
Thanks…love your Blast from the Past…I’ve read a couple from that list!
Think I’ll be doing more retro reads this month…such great books.
Highly recommend The Cabin by Jasinda Wilder. Wonderful and unique story. Tissues mandatory!!
Tiffanie DeBartolo fans!!
If you had any questions you wanted to ask her, now is the time. π I’m going to be interviewing her soon, so send ’em my way!! I have a bunch in mind, but it’s always fun to get my fellow crew involved (maybe kind of like… a mass “reader-questions” post but for one of fav authors)
