HAPPY TUESDAY NEW RELEASE DAY & HAPPY PRIME DAY!!! π
Today is the last day of PRIME DAY SALESΒ (it’s over for this year). I did GOOOOOD (all things I needed) and I’m gonna scour for super-sale, the whole day away again.
What’d I get so far? I upgraded my Kindle Paperwhite to a waterproof one (awesome deal because I’m trading in my old one – so on top of the awesome Prime Day price, they gave me a credit towards my trade-in that I used right there on the spot for my upgrade purchase, AND an extra percentage off the new Kindle on TOP of the Prime Day sale price, AND a $5 credit towards an ebook!!), got 2 x PNY Turbo 64GB USB 3.0 Flash DrivesΒ for super-cheap, and got an awesome Repel Windproof Travel Umbrella with Teflon Coating (kind of random on that… LOL!! I didn’t have one though, so this was a definite need). Oh and two automatic dog feeders so they stop waking me in the mornings for food. *snort* Also perfect for when I’m coming home later than usual. My dogs are set! <— P.S. I think the majority of the deals I got in on yesterday, are still on Amazon Prime Day SALE!!

I got the “waterproof” Kindle Paperwhite too Maryse!! And I’m trading in an old one! Super excited!
Wasn’t that a CRAZY deal??? I couldn’t believe how little I ended up paying for it.
Yay! You got the Kindle Paperwhite! I might just need to trade mine for the waterproof version.
AND YOU GUYS!!! It’s already going to be delivered to me today!!!! I just got the update from Alexa. HOLY MOLY I think I’m going o spend the afternoon in the pool reading!!!
One that Iβve really been wanting to read, The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead, releases today. Historical fiction, not romance, but interests me all the same.
You know those days that start off bad and then everything you do after follows suit? Or maybe you have a bit of progress, but then a mountain of crap sets you right back or further than when you started? This has been my week. Month. Whatever. π© I just wanna set appts., get some phone calls off my list, set schedules and things in order off my list, and gut my house. Activities, KIDS, catastrophes, grocery, etc. are always in my way. I set a goal to get this house completely clean by Wednesday so I didnβt have to stress towards the end of the week/end and guess how far I am? It is rare for me these days to have any motivation to even try (cuz whatβs the point?) and here I am with road block after road block pushing me back. π‘ I wish I could hire someone. For kids or cleaning. Or both, Iβll read a day! Next week is supposed to be dedicated to packing. Lord help me!!
*hugs* Tasha! My house has had stuff everywhere since 2016, and I’ve pretty much given up. I finally got my oldest “kid” (he’s 22 and 6’3″) out on his own (in an apartment and everything) and let his youngest brother have a bedroom to himself, and then the oldest moved himself (and ALL his stuff) back home. Don’t get me wrong–I LOVE having all my boys with me, but the bigger they get, the more room they take up!
I can rarely see my kitchen counter, and I haven’t seen my dining room table in two years, but I just try to ignore the mess and enjoy my boys. As long as the house isn’t dirty, I can live among all my piles. So just know that you’re not alone! β€οΈοΈ
Oh gosh, I cannot live among the piles. I thought thereβd be hope when they all grew out of the toys! π¬ My Mom is sentimental, a bit of a hoarder and is constantly trying to give me her sentimental stuff or things from my childhood- artwork, dishes, toys, clothes, you name it and finally Iβd had it and shouted βI AM A MINIMALIST!!β She doesnβt take me seriously, but I am and I feel cagey when things get really outta control. And they are so out of control. Bathrooms are good, living room, kind of the kitchen and 2 bedrooms. The rest? I canβt see the floors or surfaces without hyperventilating.
Oh Tasha, all I can offer you is some hugs. And Manny does, too:
This is a pretty picture! π₯°
Tasha, I’m right there with you. I also am a minimalist, and clutter drives me insane. I can live with it for a few days (or lets be honest… for as long as I have to) but I become so preoccupied with it that I lose focus, and feel so our of sorts. Hyperventilating. Yep. Piles do that to me too.
That’s exactly what I would call them. Piles. EVERYWHERE piles.
ππ
My house is filled with chaos and piles. πHubs is a bit of a hoarder and I’m kind of a slob….so yeah…my house is a disaster and it gives me major stress.
Someday I will get organized. But in meantime, I’m totally hyperventilating with you Tasha!
My trick – as best as I could do it to train myself to not get overwhelmed was:
1.) Touch it once. I always try to put it back where it came from as soon as I’m done with it. I no longer set it aside, to put it back later (which would mean I touched it twice – AND it made a pile).
2.) When I watch TV, every time there are commercials I get up and do at least ONE thing for my house (even if it’s folding up a blanket and putting it back in the linen closet, or wiping down a baseboard or two) or something like that. Unload dishwasher (even if it takes 3 rounds of commercial breaks to get it done). Fold my clothes into piles while watching TV. Put them away during commercials. By the end of a marathon movie watch on Lifetime or Hallmark, my house would be so pretty AND I was thoroughly entertained by shows and movies the whole time!
3.) Once I have enough of something, if I buy a new one or save a reusable one (like re-useable mason jars from spaghetti sauces), I get rid of one thing that it is replacing (like a jar I don’t like so much). This is harder for me to do when it comes to clothes, however. π Though I am getting better at that. Slowly. *snort* π
So those are the things I do to keep me in order.
P.S. I really do love Marie Kondo’s philosophy too. If it doesn’t bring me joy, or if it pains me to deal with it (like if I never saw it again, would I miss it?), it needs to go.
This is helpful, especially #2. Itβs not βmyβ stuff out of order though. I wish the kids could do #1!!! Number #3 too, honestly. Every time I go through stuff like a crazy woman an throw things out, there are meltdowns. Theyβll attach to things they havenβt touched or seen in years. The problem is, there are kind of 2 playrooms. And the one, things are picked up somewhat more regularly and I donβt help put them back. And their way of putting them back is the most effortless way Iβve ever seen in my life. And this cycle continues enough to where I wonβt even look anymore cuz it makes me wanna cry knowing Iβll have to take a whole day to make everything just so again. And Iβm not a crazy control freak, itβs just easier on everyone when things are out where they should be. There are legos in there (you can imagine), art supplies (oh lord the markers, glue, PAPER, supplies they decided to do a project on, hot wheels, and small things. Also has my overflowing bookshelves, computer (the desk collects so much βIβll get to it when I canβ stuff. So, I hate that room. π And the big toy room is just a bigger space to dump everything. The problem there is all the crap that the previous carpet was laid with (tons and tons of black foam crumbles that sticks to everything) is all over the toys, (babydoll clothes, in fabric bins, kitchen sets and supplies, etc. So everything there needs washed, lint rolled, swept AND organized. These things require special days. And again, Iβm 1 person doing the regular stuff everyday on top of it all and it just gets worse and worse the longer it waits and itβs that special time of the month and vacation is soon so they contribute, ya know? Lol! Donβt get me started on my daughterβs room. Her way is not my way. Itβs 1/2 done, but by the time I go to complete it, Iβm sure Iβll have to start all over.
Hang in there Tasha! I remember the days of battling toys and craft supplies! And my daughter’s closet….ugh! I wish I had a solution for you…all I can do is empathize…hugs! They’ll grow up and the messes change….now it’s clothes all over the floor and a mountain of empty water bottles….but it’s confined to their rooms. It isn’t spread across the rest of my house…
I agree with Michele G…
Pick and choose battles… if you can “let rooms go” and if you can convince them to contain their messes to their own rooms, as long as it’s not old rotting food and dirty dishes, of course, then sometimes maybe just shrugging it off, don’t let it bug you, and closing the door to the mess…maybe that might help your anxiety.
I used to have to do that with someone i lived with. I’m a order freak (and he was not – AT. ALL – piles and piles everywhere). Contained to his rooms, and I could breathe better.
I’m assuming they’ll learn their lessons in due time when their favorite things can’t be found or are still dirty. π
Also… Tasha… you have just gone through a TON of unexpected stress (the flooding and carpets and changes) that you have to live through until back to normal, PLUS the new baby, who’s adorable and one of the loves of your life, but likely simultaneously exhausting you, and probably messier than ever. π
And that puppy was not that long ago, and I guarantee you’re still feeling the stress from. You deserve a break, no doubt about it. But don’t be hard on yourself. You’ve been through a ton in a short time.
Thanks for all the advice and listening to me rant. You guys are the best listeners and always have words of wisdom to give me a bit of confidence! β€οΈ I may get to a place one day where I accept it and go with the flow, but I doubt it! π
Btw- My daughterβs closet is bad too, Michele. Well, it was before I got in there. I tell you she spends hours of her own volition cleaning her room and I reiterate specifics, and she says she does, but sheβs terrible at it. Also, 4 water bottles (not empty, removed. Candy, lots of candy I found. She missed her trash can with a ton of trash, but hey, she didnβt see it. π€·ββοΈ A week or soβs worth of dirty clothes (and clean!) on the floor. I tell you, there is a laundry shoot less than 25 ft away and she begs me for a hamper. So she can store. The little squirrel.
Great lot of books again today, Maryse. I’m scared just by the cover of Dear Anna. Eek! *averts eyes from scary pic* I know I won’t be cracking the cover of that one. LOL.
I used to read Jaci Burton’s sport romances. Haven’t read any of her biker books. Hmmm. Maybe I’ll try the sample. Not sure whether I’ve tried any Suzanne Wright, but I do like a good shifter romance now and then, so maybe I’ll have a look at her new book too.
LOL Jan!! But it’s so gooooood!!! π Don’t let the knife scare you. Although I’m not that far into it yet, that the knife just might scare ME!!!
So, I decided to go with Paper Wasp. I mean, that blurb…and that cover! How could I not??
Iβve been good with Prime Day and not indulged in any unnecessary purchases. π Only some jewelery and some makeup and a dog deshedder and a Hodor, but they werenβt on sale so… π€·π»ββοΈ
Also, I read The Girl by K. Larsen, and I kept feeling like either she was losing her touch with writing or I was just completely missing something. Then I realized it was like the fourth book in a series. π Yeah, I donβt have the patience to go back and read the series. At least I know now why I felt so lost with that book, LOL!
*Runs to look up Paper Wasp.*
That title alone is calling me!!
Amy, that is some blurb, however it is definitely not KU and too pricey for me. Let me know if it worth the $$.
I haven’t started anything since finishing Naked Love. Worked yesterday on painting my stairs and today will finish painting the trim and still have the ceiling of the foyer and stairs to do. Know I am doing it backwards, but Sherwin Williams is having a paint sale staring friday and I’m waiting to buy my ceiling paint then. Already had trim paint. Had to borrow a REALLY tall ladder from my neighbor to reach tall ceiling. Getting my exercise going up and down the ladder making some repairs to the ceiling! With this scorching heat wave it is a good project to do inside. π
Cheryl, me and hubs discovered sherwin William’s paint a few years ago and how awesome it is!! We always used to buy at Home Depot but SW doesnt smell (can even paint in winter) and applies much better. It’s pricey but worth every penny. We love the HGTV collection and recently painted kitchen a retro-feel turquoise.
Turquoise!! Thatβs awesome. I love seeing bright colors on walls.
You guys are making me want to repaint some rooms right now…

βI wore red capris on the plane.β ~ The Paper Wasp by Lauren Acampora
Not sure how I feel about this one yet. Itβs in first person but she is speaking to the former friend she is focused on, so itβs taking some adjusting on my part. She IS a little unstable though, and Iβm curious how this will play out. Iβm kinda getting Fig vibes from her. π
That’s so weird! I’ve never seen that before. It’s like a mix of first and second person. I just googled it and apparently it’s becoming a thing like third person, present has recently–though I’m still getting used to that one.
βMost people donβt get to take control of their own destiny.β The Devil’s Advocate by Ashley Jade.
I started it before Severance and The Girl He Used to Know, so I have to get back in the right frame of mind before it will take off again.
I’m also trying to get back into One Day in December which I stopped at 40% to finish Riders, and of course remember nothing.
Oh My Goodness!!! https://www.google.com/amp/s/diply.com/v/s/diply.com/62524/mms-new-creepy-cocoa-crisp-flavor-will-make-your-summer-a-little/amp%3famp_js_v=0.1&usqp=mq331AQCKAE%253D#ampf= Look what I found. Is it a coincidence I was looking at fall hair last night? Wearing leggings in a heat wave? I bet NOT!! I have an m&m addiction, but mostly like regular the best. I may have to take a trip to Target soon – though itβs at least an hour away, lol!
There are some really yummy different m&Ms. I want to try that pumpkin pie one. The best, to date, is the dark chocolate mint flavor. YUM. There’s a reason I avoid the candy section at Target.
Speaking of which, YAY! School supplies are in. Not yay because of school, but I love restocking my supply. π Dude wants a new backpack and lunch box. *sighs* He’s going into High School and knowing him, he won’t NEED a backpack. It’s an a la carte type set up, so he’ll probably eat at school each day.

Supernatural Academy: Junior Witch by Ingrid Seymour and Katie French
My daughter is super excited about buying school supplies too. Me? Not so much. Though she did say she wanted a new backpack- a JanSport. And nostalgic me just might bend for it. Lol
That’s the funny thing. He has a Jansport. However, he got it for sixth grade and used it all through middle school. Now he wants something new to start high school. That makes sense. The lunch box… not so much. He keeps wanting a new one each year. Though, I’ll be giddy buying him folders, pencils, etc. lol I’m a dork like that.
Makes sense. Heβs transitioning to a high schooler, of course heβll need new gear! And we canβt help but spoils ourselves too, right? Iβve been digging into the craft supplies again lately myself.
OMG, don’t get me started on craft supplies! I swear, next month I’m going to dollar tree to get essentials. Oct. probably Michael’s. I absolutely love doing crafty things. π Especially making Christmas ornaments.

Ugh, I didnβt realize this Sunday is the finale of BLL2. βΉοΈ Iβll have to cancel HBO. The last episode my jaw literally dropped at the end. I canβt wait to see how this plays out. I saw Veronica Mars is coming out soon too! AND! Spur of the moment decision to see Lion King premiere tonight! Thought Iβd avoid the house for another few days. ππ
