HAPPY EARLY BIRD MONDAY!! Everyone’s off today (I have a house full) but I am still blogging today, and finding us some books!! 🙂
THREE THINGS:
1.) As of Friday, I finally started feeling better. One week with a massive cold, and now I’m finally feeling like myself again. 🙂 And I can breathe!!!
2.) I wrote a review!! —> Book Review – The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen
3.) What do I do about this upcoming review? I want to post my review for my latest read (Katherine Center’s “Hello Stranger“). I really enjoyed it, but the book only comes out in July. *sigh* I didn’t think that one through. LOL 😂 Am I even allowed to post reviews that early? Oh WAIT!!! I just noticed people posting reviews for it on Goodreads, so I’m all good, I think!! YAY!! Another review coming up soon. *happy dance*

Glad you’re feeling better! I also have a house full today, and back to the usual tomorrow.
1. I finally finished The Devil Takes You Home. I started it in September and only finished it bc I wanted to complete it for a personal accomplishment, not bc I was enjoying it. Total bummer. I did like that it was unique in that it came with a translation guide for lots of Spanish. But, too gruesome for me and I just didn’t care about the characters or story.
2. I did some grocery shopping over the weekend, took the kids to a big bouncy place to wear them out, ate indoors (never happens!) for lunch and got a fun treat after. We pet puppies, had a movie night (Mrs. Doubtfire), visited family and did some chores. Lol!
3. I found another new show I can’t get enough of, So Help Me Todd on Paramount+. It’s so funny. I love the Mother/son relationship & watching their unconventional methods to solve their cases/help their clients.
I do that too when I get so far into a book that I just want to finish it even though I’m not enjoying it. I feel like it’s time wasted if I don’t, when in reality it’s double time wasted if I do!
Exactly, I knew it’d be a let down. But, I’d already invested the time. I had to- even though I know I could’ve used that time spent pushing through on another more enjoyable read.
Ugh I can’t finish books I’m not into anymore. I’m a fast quitter by the halfway point now (and often at the 25% mark… though I try to push further to at least the halfway point).
I want to read all the books that make me continue thinking about them even though I have to put them down. Then I know I’m into it for sure.
Your weekend sounds so sweet!! Petting puppies is the best. Raising puppies… not so much. 😂
I can’t do it! It feels like I’ve only got one shoe tied and I have to tie the other too or they won’t be right. If that makes sense. It leaves me feeling wrong. And I still remember the handful that I have DNFd and I still feel such guilt.
Agreed on the puppies too. I can pet all the puppies. I don’t want to keep them though. Took me way too long to come to terms with that. 😂
30% is my sweet spot. It was taking me a while to get into The Man I Love and I almost stopped at 25% but someone told me to give it a little longer and I’m sooooo glad I did! The first big moment tends to happen right at or just after 25%, rarely before.
Agreed.
Also, I remember not liking Arsen at all in the beginning. The writing style, the characters were just too over the top for me. But I persevered, and then it got CRAZY and was still OTT but I couldn’t put it down anymore. LOL!!
And that ending. WHOA. So I DO recognize that DNF’ing too early might mean I lose out on some crazy that would have hooked me.
I battle with myself regularly over those issues, with every book I don’t pick up again.
Oh shoot. I wonder if I DNF’d too early on Arsen! 😬🤔
Eeep! Thanks for the reminder! I still need to review Hello Stranger! Hope I can remember it! 😬
1. We’re going to the rodeo tonight to see, as my husband puts it, “That Clint Walker Guy” (aka Clay Walker). I currently have a bad back so I think we’ll skip the carnival rides–except for the haunted house coaster with the loud noises because I can’t miss that! 😆
2. I also plan to eat all the fried things. And cotton candy.
3. I just finished the audiobook for Carrie Soto and the production was fantastic. I may never “read” a book of hers again!
Oh wow, your rodeo sounds like so much fun!!
I love it. Austin’s is too small and Houston’s is too big. San Antonio is just right.
I loved the Rodeo I went to, once upon a time.
It was while I was reading “Sweet Dreams” by Kristen Ashley (I struggled to put it down to go out to this rodeo), but once I got there, surrounded by all that testosterone and that bad boy country feel… I was in heaven (it all kind of matched the feel of that book)!!!
