<—HAPPY MONDAY EARLY BIRDS & OMG YOU GUYS!!! THIS ONE!! You know I love Tessa Bailey, and this sounds like old school romance and… does anyone want to buddy read it with me? LETS!!! 😀
But first… three things:
1.) I’m hooked on a new sparkling water that was on BOGO sale at Publix last week (AHA ginger & apple). Holy moly it’s pretty darn close to tasting like actual ginger ale which is my favorite soda of all. Though no sugar of course, but still has that proper flavor. This is my new favorite!!! Though I’m dying to try all their flavor combos ’cause they sound amazing (especially that blueberry one!!)
2.) I watched the Linda Ronstadt documentary and I know she was a huge inspiration for “Daisy Jones and the Six” (as well as Fleetwood Mac of course ) and now I’m seeing the connections (Glenn Fry & her… and Don Henley – The Eagles) <— Holy Moly I had NO idea about any of that. Wow!!! That biography was absolutely incredible. A total tear-jerker and heart warmer. <3 I always loved so many of her songs when I was a little girl, but hadn’t put two and two together that SHE was the one that sang them.
3.) Birdy ALSO loves Linda Ronstadt because he sang through the entire movie!! When she sang… he did (and he got loud about it too). Happy bird!! LOL. It made me giggle.

1. I’m home!!! After only 36 solid hours of travel, which included 2 reroutes (with absolutely zero screening) and a rental car at 3 am. The hubs and I are now in home based quarantine, and instead of crashing like responsible adults, we’re going to pop open some champagne and continue our scrabble tournament.
2. When you return from abroad, don’t mention it in a grocery store full of people. 😬
3. It’s so hottt here compared to where we were I’m tempted to crank up the pool!
Um….maybe not during a pandemic, lol.
Lack of sleep?
R, now do they monitor your quarantine? Or do they monitor it? I think I saw in some other countries they do call ins and other things. No screening? Why does this not surprise me, lol.
They have my info but no way will they check in. It’s such a mess. I just hope everyone is diligent on their own, especially those with symptoms and that whole flight had a cough.
My cousin and her husband went to Jordan a couple of days ago (a vacation they had planned and booked months ago) and when they got there, they were stopped, put in a hotel (that they had to pay for that WAS NOT their planned hotel) and they had to find plane tickets back out. That was as far into Jordan as they were going to get.
So they got a flight out to Turkey, then flight out to Paris, and finally back to Canada by this Thursday. All that money spent for that trip… gone, along with the added expense of new flights home.
🙁
OMG Maryse. I feel for them. We were very lucky. We only lost about 6 hotel/airbnb nights, but *we* chose to eave early. The 2 SXSW ones were big, but hotels.com may actually reimburse those and our layover hotel we were supposed to have in London. British Airways (which I LOVE) bought us a connecting flight out of their pocket to get us from DFW to AUS after OUR country switched things on them. They did not have to do that! Unfortunately, we got in way too late to make the connection so we ended up getting a rental car on our dime (only $120), but we *could* have waited to reschedule. I think things would have ended very differently had we booked a vacation one week later than we did!
MY COUSIN UPDATE!
France closed their borders so no international flights (she was supposed to fly to Paris and then back home from there). Therefore my cousin is still in Turkey trying to find a flight out.
Wow Maryse. Is anyone trying to help them?
Not really… the Canadian news reported about it. Nobody has a clue yet (my mom and my aunt are trying hard to help find them a solution). My aunt used to work for Air Canada so here’s hoping she has connections.
A Conspiracy of Bones by Kathy Reichs is due out tomorrow and up for pre order if anybody is interested. One of my go to authors!
YAY!! Thank you for letting us know, Randi! I’m working on tomorrow’s list as we speak and I’ll add it too. 🙂
I was hopeful the store would be a ghost town . But no, of course not.
I was planning on ordering via instacart (for delivery) but there’s stuff I’m searching for that it’s not even pulling up. So weird.
People are sticking up. I did so slightly. Like enough for a couple weeks. I tried to think of it more like as if a storm system is coming in and I know I dont want to go shopping in it. 🤷♀️
Not panic buying though. Even in places of almost complete shut down the grocery stores and pharmacies are still open.
But seeing people at the bars and restaurants surprised me a little.
Maryse, I know you mentioned this on a different post, but where do you get your veggie delivery from?
Hi Cheryl!
I get it from https://www.misfitsmarket.com and you can get 50% off your first box with this coupon code if you decide to give it a try: COOKWME-VW2BMG
I love them. I chose the smaller box and get it once every two weeks and by the time my next order comes around I still have veggies from the previous box. And I eat tons of veggies!! Very impressed and one less thing I have to bother with at the grocery store.
Plus I get to try all sorts of stuff I would skip over at my store, or even stuff I’ve never even seen before. Come to find out, I’m not a fan of beets. LOL!!
Thanks Maryse! I only like beets in my protein shake. 😉
Thanks Maryse! I signed up for the meat box but the veggies aren’t delivering here yet! 🙁
All bars and restaurants shut down here now, just take out and delivery. No gatherings of over 25 people.
This is so surreal.
It’s all so crazy right now. I was going to go to the grocery store tonight, and was disheartened at the fullness of it (just on the parking lot alone)… and hearing from neighbors that they are out of a ton. I can’t stand that kind of chaotic, stressed energy.
So I just subscribed to a monthly organic free range meat subscription so it’s yet another I don’t have to think about or worry about. We’ll see how I like it. 😉 I think at this point, it will be a godsend. I found out about it when an author asked about ordering meats online and someone mentioned that ButcherBox was amazing… so I’m in!
The new Mercy Thompson book is out TODAY (in Australia) or tomorrow for you guys in the states. Smoke Bitten. We’ve all been waiting for this one for a while 🙂
The virus hasn’t hit too hard here yet, but they tell us it’s going to get worse over the next few weeks. Toilet paper is really hard to get LOL. Some people must be storing a whole roomful. Ridiculous!
My school where I work is still open, but we’re preparing to start running online classes if we have to close.
Crazy times. Thank heavens for books and kindles! Yay!
Jan I’m nervous to even go to a grocery store right now. 1.) I don’t want to see the shortages, and 2.) I worry about that frenetic energy that’s possibly going on still with shoppers.
I hope everyone remains safe during this time. We don’t have the Coronavirus yet and I hope it stays away. (Isle of Man) the government has taken steps to prevent it from coming on board but how they are going to monitor boat and plane traffic coming on an off an Island will be interesting to see. Hopefully, everyone within the IOM has got the message from the rest of the world and the UK and takes sensible steps that are needed to stop any spread. Life continues here, only people being quarantined are the ones coming on the Island. Schools are still working as most of the industry. Our annual TT bike race has been cancelled due to the amount of international traffic it brings. The sensible approach really. So I am going about my daily life and thinking about all the people who have been affected by this virus. I hope the steps that have been taken worldwide stop the spread and you can get back to your everyday lives. Thinking of you all and continue to be safe.
Rae!
I had never heard of the Isle of Man until you mentioned it on Facebook the other day, and I went on a research and learning frenzy. I’m now completely fascinated with your home, my friend!!!
And I hope this doesn’t ever reach you. <3
I hope it doesnt reach you all. It must be so beautiful to live there.
