HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!!! I had a relaxing weekend, and we’re finally getting some rain!! A nice long downpour after a month or more of no rain whatsoever. My beautiful palm tree in front of my house is looking pitiful. :/ That’s what I was so excited about, moving to South Florida was the ability to finally have the fancy palm trees, and still, I struggle.
Now tell me about your weekend. Anything fun? Did you read or watch something I should watch too? What did you eat? Are you stressing about tax time, or are you all done and not even thinking about it?
THREE THINGS:
1.) I watched Cocaine Bear this weekend. I didn’t really want to because it sounded so silly that it couldn’t possibly have been good, right? But it ended up being pretty great. Funny, ridiculous, over the top and yet well done. Great soundtrack, great actors, great time period, and supposedly based on a true story. That’s when I perked up. 😉 My boyfriend laughed and laughed and he loved it. He’s not a horror guy, but if he’s going to watch “horror” it’s gotta be something like this, apparently. *sigh* 🙄 Fiiiiiiiiinnne.
2.) I was about to start a romance book, when lo and behold, I saw yet another conversation on my Facebook feed about super-scary books (vs. splatter gore, which I hate), and this one was given some great recommendations in regards to the scare factor. Then I saw that Stephen King and another author I love (Sarah Pinborough) quoting how good it was, and I knew I had to give it a try. I’m in at about 20% and enjoying it. Not scary yet, but I definitely see where it will be soon. P.S. I LOVE the pet cat. 😉 —> The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward
3.) For lunch today, I’m going to attempt a delicious “Columbia 1905 salad“. Here’s the salad dressing (but I’m going to hand make my own). I go to that restaurant specifically for the salad (though everything is great!!), and so I bought everything I needed for it this weekend. Today’s lunch, to be continued…

I’ve heard good things about The House on Needless Street too, can’t wait to see what you think!
Cocaine Bear looked ridiculous to me too, lol, glad it was pretty good though. I watched a ridiculous movie last night too- Perfect Addiction- I rented it on prime and it’s based off a Wattpad story, I guess. And, I knew what I was getting into, but I just wanted the feeling of an old school book trope I used to be so into, without the time it takes to read it. And, I’d say that’s what it gave me. 😂 It wasn’t the best, but not the worst either. I actually think all the training and fight scenes were pretty good.
Still having trouble picking up a book and committing. I have no time nor focus. But, I want to.
I got tickets to a high school play for Into the Woods, looking forward to that. I actually really liked that movie with Anna Kendrick, though the whole plot of it escapes me.
I almost rented Perfect Addiction!!!!!
I don’t regret it. I miss those MMA romance books. 😉
How funny, I also almost rented Perfect Addiction but ended up watching Cocaine Bear too. Haha! I do live in a house full of boys though. 🤣
Ditto! 3 boys, their father… and a huge boy dog. Then it’s just me and my 2 tiny dog-girls.
Hi Maryse! I started hiking about 3 months ago and fell in love with it! Its so calming and I feel a sense of accomplishment after each trek. I do 4 miles a day, Monday through Thursday and I just added Sundays. We’ll, I knew there were snakes 🐍 in the park, but hadn’t come across any. While I was out recently, I stopped to take pictures of Loch Raven Reservoir. I had been standing on the edge of a ridge that overlooked the dam. I had been there taking pics and videos for about 10 minutes and caught something shiny in my peripheral vision. I zoom in and see a really long, Black Rat Snake!!!! OMGeeee, I had a full body shiver, froze, then backed away slowly!! It was in a tree!! So, I decided to go back and look closely at all the pics from that time frame. Lo and behold, Mr. Rat Snake had a cameo is most of them and he was trying to get to a snake nest!!! I get the willies every time I think about it. Sunday, a different type of snake was right on the trail. It was trying to quickly scurry across the trail and i had almost stepped on it. I called my husband and alli I could say was: “babe… snake.” I almost threw in the towel until I saw a woman walking towards me and where I saw the snake. She took me on a guided hike!!! She’s been hiking at the park for many years and volunteers twice a week. What a godsend! We’re going to meet up on Thursdays! I normally hike alone, with pepper spray, a hunting knife and whistle, but it’s still creepy at times. I stopped going to a previous park when I spotted bear scat! Uhhhhh, no thank you, Yogi!!!
Oh wow Joy!!!!
I’m glad you found a hiking guide. You’ll get to learn all the things!!
Also, your story reminded me of a similar one. Same thing, my ex-husband and I were hiking (or geo-caching which required lots of hikes), and he walked right over a stick in the trail.
But it wasn’t a stick. It was a rattlesnake (a big one!) basking in the sun and absorbing all that nice heat. I halted as soon as I saw it and my husband thought I was still following him, and I said OMG LOOK AT WHAT YOU JUST WALKED OVER!!!
He spun around and there it was… the snake, kind of curled up with his head up trying to figure us out. He almost fainted, he couldn’t BELIEVE he missed it and might have been bitten if it felt threatened. We were SO lucky.
And he was a huge snake aficionado and could spot them and identify them on the road while he was driving.
So… that’s my story. 😂
