HAPPY MONDAY!! Late start today for me, as I have some workers here installing something on my house. YAY HOUSE!!! But! It’s time for YAY BOOKS instead, and today looks like it’s gonna be a great early bird day, as I see authors we know and love! But first…
THREE THINGS:
1.) NEW HOUSE THINGS: I’m getting my porch area in my backyard screened in as we speak. It’s noisy, and my huge chicken-puppy 🐓 – 🐶 is side-eyeing me. “Loud noises!!!”
2.) I got bit up by “no-seeums” a week or so ago sitting outside enjoying a quiet evening, and for days I was itching like mad. All these little red bite marks and I could not stop scratching. Miserable for a few days. I think I’m allergic to those evil tiny bugs. So that was it. SCREEN IT IN! 😉
3.) On another note about my backyard/new house issues… *GROSS TRIGGER ALERT!!!! YOU MIGHT WANT TO SKIP THIS BECAUSE JUST… EW!* ——-> we bought this underground disposal thingie (that comes with special enzymes) for er… my umm… HUGE 🐕 💩 . To keep the lawn clean, and also not deal with grossness as much as possible (no smells). While it works well enough (it took quite a lot of effort to dig it in, and install it), it ended up collapsing upon itself underneath. All the dirt filled it back in for the most part. So all that perfect length hole we dug, pretty much doesn’t exist anymore. Too much rain right now in this rainy season? Likely the culprit. So we are going to try again in another area of the yard, but re-inforce it with some sort of PVC pipe or something like that. *fingers crossed* If you have found a better way to handle dog stuff, let me know. 😀
P.S. funny-strange fact about me. I HATE (to the point of almost a phobia) walking on grass. Any grass. Anywhere. Even my beautiful grass. Exactly due to… dogs. 😉 So you can imagine I’m not the most helpful when it comes to my big puppy, in that aspect. Thank goodness my boyfriend has no issues handling that.
Funny-strange fact about you? I’d love to hear it!

1. I have workers here today too! We’re getting satillo installed in 3 rooms. My goal is to do the whole downstairs, but that will be a while.
2. We have painters coming next Monday and the hubs conveniently got covid so he gets a pass on paint prep. He’s doing ok, but says it’s definitely the “sickest” he’s ever been.
3. We returned from Mexico last Wednesday and it was amazing as always! I could not love that island more. I went snorkeling through parts of the underwater museum (MUSA) and saw manta ray for the first time. I was too chicken (and queasy) to do the whale shark trip, but our guide talked me into it for next time.
Ooooh what is Satillo (runs to google to look it up)
I hope he feels better soon… I am dreading getting it, but I feel like it’s only a matter of time.
I hope I get to start traveling too!!! Mexico sounds pretty great, but even to the Bahamas to see my aunt and cousins would be amazing!
I’ve never been to the Bahamas! To get to visit family makes it even better! I hope you get to go soon.
Satillo is a clay tile popular in Mexican and Spanish design, and I both love and hate it. The original company used a standard grout that is much lighter than what I had in mind and now I have to match it. It’s also expensive and there are so few companies that do it, you just have to accept the price you’re given–which is why I’m doing a little at a time. If I had it to do all over again, I don’t think I’d go this route.
I just messaged you a pic of one of the tiles they found with paw prints!
LOVE!!!!!!!! Especially the reasoning of the paws. WOW!
1. I read Every Summer After, loved it!
2. I wanted to see what a bidet was like and got an attachment today. It was installed 4 hours ago and my husband is currently downstairs cutting into the ceiling and such because the pipes burst. We hadn’t even used it yet because the pressure seemed too much and had to order something to make it not so.
3. I’ve watched all of Maggie on Hulu (fun, quick sitcom/drama) and am now watching The Lincoln Lawyer and loving it.
Also trying to make it through the last few weeks of summer. We did day trips several day the last couple weeks and had a good time, but kids are starting to get really stir crazy and I need some structure.
LOL!! The bidet’s are pretty forceful the first few times you try one. I had one installed in my last house. 😉 YIKES!!! COLD too! I didn’t bother with the hot water one.
Well, my reading days will be numbered. After 15 years of being a stay at home Mom, I am going back to work full time next week. I have been working a part time temporary position with the County Health Dept for a few months. It will be good to get my skills back up (my girl friends call this a lily pad job:) But I will be working 12 hour days and it will be tough. However, all I make will be going to my son’s college tuition. Meanwhile I have been binge reading Cee Bowerman. She is a new to me author and I have been devouring her books.
And I loved all your updates, Kathy. But I hope this job ends up being a fruitful one, and you’ll find a good work/reading balance. 🙂
