THREE THINGS:
1.) I wish it would rain. I always joke that it never rains in Bradenton, and this year it’s proving true. Ugh! My beautiful trees and plants need some daily evening-rain love. We completely missed our rainy season this year.
2.) Have I told you that my super-smart half great-dane/half English mastiff dog knows how to open our sliding glass door? The one he goes out of to pee. Well, he now opens that door up to run after birds in our yard. BRAT!
3.) I made banana bread yesterday!! Now I don’t have to throw out older bananas that no-one will eat anymore. 🙂 It’s delicious and a bit nutritious. I’m with you on the rain !! We need it so bad!! I live in the county so I don’t have restrictions burning trash,BUT when it hasn’t rained in a couple of months( if you don’t count the one and only pop up during that time) my paper trash is piling up big time!,! I burn my paper trash and use the ashes for fertilizer around some of my yard plants.
I mean… it will get all dark and grey, we’ll hear thunder and even see lightning, and still.. NO RAIN.
One time, it rained ONLY on the pond/lake thingie behind my house. So annoying.
It’s so weird that this year we haven’t had the afternoon pop up thunderstorms from the heat! I live 20 minutes from the Alabama gulf coast so we always expect them but haven’t had any for a while. Don’t you love those clouds that rain on the front yard and you look out the back and it’s bright and sunny!🤣
Yes the bright and sunny one one side of the house and rain on the other side happens here (at least, when it rains). LOL!!!
Actually, it’s finally rained 2 days in a row (big rain storms) so I’m happy. Apparently all I have to do is complain on my blog, and things get fixed. Who knew my blog has magic powers??

Hey, it’s been a while since I’ve popped in! Funny you mention rain, as it rained nearly all day here today. We thankfully haven’t been under too bad of a dry spell. All practices cancelled tonight so crafting and organizing today.
1. I haven’t been reading near as much as I’ve been book buying or really, really want to read because summer with busy kids is nuts! I have mere days left.
2. I have spent all summer organizing this and that and I feel like it’s barely made a dent. I had to switch bedrooms around-which meant tons of furniture switches also. And then took tons of board games that were in several diff. places and cleared a closet out, and fit what I could in there. And books. Days of going through books- especially children’s and baby books- I was too sentimental before, but they’re taking over. Also, took down a catch all, ugly shelf and made a new shelving system that will be kind of a nature explore/display area. And the craft closet, junk drawer and catch all basket. And all old fall/winter clothes sorting to put away and get rid of. And I’ve got more yet! I hate it. And I love it because it feels so freeing after.
3. Have been watching The Good Wife and finished The Drowning Woman recently and working through A Most Agreeable Murder right now. It’s so fun! Last stand out read for me was The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston.
I’m right there with ya!! I was traveling with my 16yr son this past summer with travel baseball and we were away more than we were home! School started and I now have some time to declutter my house. we are going to remodel some of the wear and tear from 15years of living here. The kids are now grown, so they no longer do major kid damage if you know what I mean!! So I wish you luck because I know what you mean by being sentimental and not throwing out stufff….🤷♀️
Oh, I’ve heard about travel bball! I think that takes a special kind of parent, to devote all that time and energy. I feel like I’m dragged through all the over involvement and am stretched too thin as is. I was not that kid growing up. So for me, having sports, sometimes a couple different ones running together each season- makes me crazy. Mine range from 5-13 and I’m already dreaming of my oldest getting her license. We did summer swim, almost finished with flag fb, soccer has begun for 2, and XC started a few weeks ago (I drag these kids out of bed at 6am for it). Then in 3 weeks or so, fall/winter swim begins and holy crap am I stressing about how I’m gonna get them where they need to be. I need 1-2 more people to help transport, really.
That’ll be so exciting to start remodeling some! Not the process, but the results, lol! I do know what you mean about the wear and tear. It just keeps coming- I call it adding character, currently. 😉
Definitely adding character!! I have two, daughter is 19 and works for us and then the 16 son. He’s been playing baseball since he was 4 and travel since 6yrs old but with college around the corner we are stepping up the travelball to get his numbers out there.
I don’t know what I will do when he graduates…. Ive been a stay at home mom since they were born and work when needed since they are now working for us. I know it’s stressful with needing to go in different directions, been there done that. Especially when my daughter was riding horses and my son was traveling with baseball. I was so lucky to have those baseball parents who would help out when I needed to be in 2 locations when my husband had to work.
I’ve caught myself crying a few times since the end of summer, knowing that all this is going to end shortly even though it stresses me out!!
Decluttering is hard. I’m not much of a clutter-bug myself but since I was selling my house and I wasn’t sure what house we were going to end up buying (and how long that would take considering the crazy house-buying market this year), I ended up donating and giving away so much stuff.
A lot of that stuff, now that I am in my new home, I regret getting rid of, big time. Ugh. Oh well… now I’m rebuying some stuff, and just grumping about the stuff I used to have. 😂
I’d love to see your house and all of your organization. I’m always looking for ways to refine, and define, and keep things organized yet pretty.
No real stand-out book for me lately… the one I’m reading right now started off great, we’re hitting a slow part right now, but hopefully it picks up again.
