THREE THINGS:
2.) How hard is it to find an all glass cake stand (with dome)? I brought one from my old house that I loved, and could be converted into a punch/fruit bowl, and a serving plate, as well as the covered dessert stand), but it broke in transit. I was sad. So I ordered a gorgeous one on Amazon (great reviews, and the look of it was perfect for me) and it arrived… shattered. I won’t be trying that again. And I went to numerous Home Goods stores, and even Crate and Barrel, and Target, and the only thing I could find were cake stands with a wood base… everywhere!!
<— So I settled for one (it’s gorgeous – for sure) but I didn’t want the wood to be affected by the desserts (like my moist and buttery banana bread). So I think I found a solution. I purchased a couple of these clear acrylic 10″ discs to place on top of the wood serving part of my stand, so it’s easy to clean and way more hygienic!! Good enough. 😉

I bought this one over a decade ago and I love it. It’s huge so everything fits! It was a little pricey but worth every penny. And because of the style you don’t see fingerprints.

I bought my original one (from my old house that broke in transit) from a flea market in my town for like… $15? And then I found it at Target later that week for $20, so I just assumed (7 years later) that I’d be able to find another like that one, easily. And for that old price. HA!!
But I do love my new one (I think I paid $40 for it), and will still lookout for another one. Apparently, people collect these. Two for me sounds about right. 😉
This one’s listed at $69 which is about what I paid for it but I bet you can use the dimensions and description to find one cheaper. It’s just glass. It doubles as a centerpiece on my dining table too so it gets its use!
