HAPPY MONDAY!!! Yesterday and today, I woke up to temps in the 60s here in Florida, and I’m thrilled!!! I have my sliding glass doors open as we speak, letting that cool, almost crisp air into the house. π
I am LOVING it!!
THREE THINGS:
1.) One of the boys in my household (and his two friends) carved pumpkins this weekend, and now these adorable things are just sitting on our back porch. And they did a great job! I’m pretty impressed, and what I’m even more impressed at, is kind of… how wholesome the whole thing was. A bunch of 18 year old college boys, that went together and bought pumpkins and carved them together. How.Cute!!
2.) P.S. My Great Dane is NOT a fan of the scary pumpkins. π They DO NOT belong, and he barks at them.
3.) P.S. That is our propane fire-pit thingie (isn’t it cute)?? It’s like a tree stump. We’ve only used it once since moving to this house, but it’s pretty cool and rustic looking and pretty big (not a table top, though I found some cute ones of those too). Here’s one that is almost identical to mine, but mine is just significantly taller (like a table on its own). Here are various tree stump fire pits (a few table-top ones that are adorable).

Those pumpkins on your stump fire thing are adorable! So cozy and love that they chose to do something like that on their own. I decided to make concrete pumpkins with my crew this year and when I went to Loweβs to get concrete color to mix in, one of the workers came to help me and hadnβt heard of them. So, I said what I needed color for and he said his child was 16 and he didnβt have to worry about stuff like that anymore. Not in a rude way, just making conversation while I was deciding what I wanted. But, I thought it was sad. I hope my kids want to do stuff like this with me no matter the age. It brings us together and we see the result of our hard work and it makes us happy. Iβm still buying costumes for my teenager. π
I bet they will! When they grow up with fun customs and memories, they’ll want to continue.
Like I said… here they are, 18 year olds choosing to do this on a Saturday evening.
Also, the other 18 year old twin decorated his room for Halloween and even has a blow up/light up yard ghost in his room.
I have fun kids y’all, and I didn’t even raise ’em!
1. We did a spontaneous haunted wagon ride Friday night. It was just right on the scare level for my young kids and we ate cheese curds while waiting in line and got ice cream and pumpkin donut holes after. And while you waited, you were brought to a barn and sat on hay bales and were told 2 fun/spooky stories to pass the time and get in the mood. I thought that was a really cool addition. Iβm trying to squeeze in a few spooky season activity nights in this month on top of an already fully booked, every day π±, kind of month. Itβs nuts.
2. I bought a hair curler today that curls for you. Because I have always been incapable of curling my own hair. Something between my brain and hands to not compute. π But I got my hair done recently and she curled it and Iβve never gotten so many compliments after, so Iβm going to try this. Fingers crossed!
3. Also purchased today, Boys in the Valley by Philip Fracassi. The hardcover is 40% off and I have seen it quite a bit lately saying itβs super scary. So, because I have been on a reading streak, Iβve justified this purchase. π
Keep us posted about the hair curler! I’m pretty inept too!
Oh and my hair too. It’s refusing to hold a curl now. Next, I’m going to get the butterfly cut and get a bit drastic with my layers.

This: https://www.tiktok.com/@st0kholmstyl33/video/7239679811927543066 (because they tell you what to ask for:
Full butterfly haircut:
Dimension near face
Lots of extra volume
long layers throughout
And this one says:

Face framing long layered cut with bouncy blowout.
Love that style! I just had to add a bunch of layers to mine. I’m thinking of going bigger next time too.
Also keep us posted on the scary book too!!!! I have lost my ability to be frightened (I think my scare-fuse blew) LOL!!! Or I just haven’t read or watched the right things.
That new exorcist movie about the 2 little girls that get possessed looks SO FREAKING scary though, so I think that might do the trick for me.
Also what a wonderful Hay ride story. It warms my heart, and again… memories are being made (and even if some are so young they might not remember the details, it’s part of the feelings they’ll develop around certain times of the year because of the stuff you are doing with them, and that, they will innately remember).
18 YO boys carving pumpkins? I love it!
1. I saw The Exorcist over the weekend and I loved it–especially how that channeled the original. It really had the same feel, which I thought was impressive. But…it wasn’t scary AT ALL. Shocking, since the trailer continues to freak me out!
2. I also watched Talk To Me last week and it was fantastic. The Edith Piaf scene was genius! Maryse have you seen it yet?
3. It was actually cool this morning when I got up to walk! I’m so ready for fall weather!
HOLY MOLY YOU SAW IT!!!?????
It seems so scary from the trailer that I almost don’t want to watch it at home in case the demons come through. π
And ugh on the not scary part. To me it’s like “The Priest’s Exorcist” Loved it, and especially that it’s a true story, but it didn’t even phase me, fear-factor wise.
*sigh*
I haven’t seen Talk To Me or even heard of it?? I’m going to look it up right now. π
Oh that TOTALLY sounds like my thing. I can’t WAIT!!! Thank you, R!!!
I actually thought the trailer was weak, which is why I didn’t see it in the theater. But the super high Rotten Tomatoes and Audience ratings convinced me, and it’s great. I’m desensitized too, so can’t say if it’s “scary” but I remember jumping.
And if you’re a fan of the original Exorcist, it’s definitely worth watching.
The original Exorcist is one of my all time scariest movies ever. It’s so unsettling and deeply believable, and visually terrifying.
So the one you’re talking about with the weak trailer, is that “Talk to Me”, you’re referring to?
Yes! Sorry. I thought Talk To Me looked boring based on the trailer, but it’s not at all.
I just watched the extended version of the Exorcist a couple weeks ago and for the most part, it still stands up! But except for the spider walk scene, there’s a lot of filler.
Okay I’m watching “Talk to Me” and OMG that opening scene!!!!!
And yeah… the reviews look incredible. I haven’t read them yet, but it’s rare a horror movie gets a 4.5 star overall rating. HOLY MOLY!!!
It was a doozy! They certainly aren’t afraid of gore!!
Usually when Rotten Tomatoes rates a horror movie high, the audience score is low, but it this case both are high.
Oh oh I’m hearing Edith Piaf!!
Holy. MOLY!!!! LOL π
